Imagine asking extroverts why they're so loud, or wondering if they struggle with needing validation.

@@grace_13_guiI was talking to my friend at school during lunch the other day and I was getting really fired up about this one thing, and I guess I got really loud because a teacher walking past looked at me really weird and said "you need to take it down a notch".
      I just about died.

When we ask you why are you so quiet its comes from a place of concern like oh are you not enjoying the party is sth wrong? Oh are you upset about sth can i help? No one wants to oppress you we are just asking
But if you come to someone and tell them to stfu its RUDE you shouldn't do that to people its gonna offend them

Been there done that if someone's being loud 24/7 it gets annoying and not everyone likes speaking up about it just like if someones being super quiet most people would ask why as that's unusual behavior if they're clearly struggling with validation whether they like talking to people or not it's something that should be addressed don't let your friends and family struggle

This is absolute gold. I hate being questioned by extroverts about why I’m so quiet and asking if I hate them because I like to keep to myself frequently.

Thank you! People maybe not intentionally treat introverts as if they have a disease or it’s something to overcome. Seeing it reversed was refreshing.

I love this role reversal, Abbey. If Extoverts really were judged for socialising too often, then I'd reckon that they'd think twice before judging an introvert for needing excessive amounts of alone time to recharge.

  • @Avionne_Parris
    @Avionne_Parris Рік тому +28

As an introvert who can be extrovert when the need arises, this was HILARIOUS, Abs! The reversal was a refreshing spin on the typical trope.
I'm so tired of people treating my introversion like it's some deficiency or disease... Time alone is how I re-energize myself, I'm not lonely!
And yes, reading a book underneath a blanket... hey, don't knock it until you've tried it :-)

I think we should all collectively agree to start badgering extroverts this way until it becomes the norm. Just long enough to make them feel so self conscious that they'll think twice before questioning quiet behavior 😄

My son was a flaming extrovert - but he was smart enough to realize that while he had friends, not everyone was a "best" friend, though they were friends. We did teach him the word acquaintance and just realized that to him everyone was a potential friend. Loved that about him.

I'm involved in church and faith-based groups and often wish my extrovert friends were required to take a "retreat" that involved solitude and silence for three days, just as I am often required to participate in three days of "retreats" that involve sharing bedrooms and being in large groups 24/7, playing games, etc. 🙄

This made me laugh, a lot thank you, when you get to the point of not caring what people think of you that's when life gets fun. I can stand there and listen and when I hear one bad comment on how quite or weird I'm being I can simply walk off and be me. Back in the days I would get nervous, start talking nonsense, laugh when they laugh, even when it's not funny, and when told I'm weird I would explain to them for 10 mins how I am as a person and in the end they still wouldn't understand lmao. It's a battle we will NEVER win unless we stop giving a damn

I wonder if different cultures are more accepting of introversion than others. The cultural expectations in the US in particular are SO geared towards extroversion. Should we move to Iceland? 😂

    • @AbbeyHowe

I definitely think so! In Japan, silence is considered valuable. If you've ever been on a subway there, it's such a different vibe than in the US. I feel like introverts would be celebrated there.

  • @a-the-na6901

🤣🤣 Society is definitely biased towards extroverts. We assume introverts are depressed and hapless, and we are forced to be with people way more than we are forced to be alone because people don't think it's a big ask.
