I became a big fan of Iggys' right around this time. I was 19 going on 20, will be the big six - oh in 2 weeks! Iggy continues to rock and the World still turns!
Cudos for sharing this piece in time! This was right at the time when Iggy was going bankrupt, as hence performing here in some shady club with some questionable musicians. David Bowie came to the rescue and put his name on the "China Girl" song on his 1983 album and basically resurrected and revived Iggy's career via royalties.
@@Onemore59it really is derogatory but we need terms like punk rock to categorize things. I don’t like labels but they probably help for people to discover parts of history. I probably wouldn’t have learned about iggy or the stooges if I didn’t look into the history behind punk. Which bands influenced who, which bands were associated with certain genres, music scenes, etc. People discriminate and judge based on labels, which sucks but I think they can be necessary even if they’re not accurate. I don’t really think of iggy as a “punk” but I associate him with the term punk. I think it’s natural to associate certain bands together just for the sake of memory. It’s like how we categorize art movements throughout history, baroque period, romantic era, avant-garde, swing era, etc. If we didn’t it would be confusing and hard to learn about history. People who have interest in rock or even just punk need to know who iggy is.
2nd live gig I ever went to. Was about 14.Blew my mind-loved the Iggy ever since
