I run a Ca Drop Riffle sluice. I catch fine gold and I’m certain I’m not losing enough to haul around a metal box with multiple layers to disassemble. Thanks for the review.
I wish that the grey Angus sluices were still available. I believe someone bought out the original manufacturer of Angus makirk and now make them with black polymer. Does anyone know where I can purchase a grey A.M expedition sluice?
Tom ~I have both the gray and black Angus MacKirk sluices. I agree the gray ones are better but not made anymore. The new black ones are of lesser quality but were available at Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops. Also look on e - Bay. ~Geo Sluice Mining in Oklahoma also has "plastic" sluices like the regular & mini Le Trap and California drop riffle sluices & highbankers. ~I do love plastic sluices very much. ~Also look up the plastic Kreeger Sluice, they are very good for clean-up. Green Mountain Gold Trap on UA-cam has a good video on how these Kreeger sluices work, he loves them.
I found a 1.3 gram nugget with my Angus makirk. It stopped right before the rifles on the diamond plate-like area. My streams down here in GA are low flow, so the A.M sluice is perfect for me.
@@midwestmidasmining yea you can run the mackirk pretty flat. I've been out of the gold prospecting game for awhile, but I'm getting the fever! I think I'ma build me a DIY trommel/wash plant! Thanks for your time on these videos!
I only have the grubstake and that catches sone dam fine gold and also anything else above that obviously, but when I have it setup correctly everything just boils around and exchanges brilliantly.and its so easy to setup and wash out. 2 foot long by 6 inches such an awesone sluice.
I think I had the angle too steep for both sluices in this video. When I have them out in the wild, they both do a great job of catching gold. Thanks for watching!
Easy to slip in a back pack and easy to clean up is worth a few lost specs. I just got my grandson a dream mat and one dunk and it perfectly clean. I might test it against my home made expanded over miners moss but if they are comparable I'll probably moth ball the latter.
Hey Matt I just think 🤔 you answered your own questions both are great at there Capture rate and both work for any applications so don’t believe everything you hear this the truth here Thanks for the good video Matt have a good one always good to have a comparison out for now

My "test" was certainly not definitive. 😄
Thank you for watching!

That's awesome! I think I may have been running the sluices too steep. Otherwise, I really like my Mackirk, especially for unclassified material.

I have been running and Angus for years , i am very pleased with it's results . and it does catch the smaller gold and i am in North Carolina .
Yeah, my test was probably not super accurate.
Cool
Thank you!
Is a spiral wheel a good tool
The spiral wheel is a great tool for cleaning up your gold concentrates. It is not a main capture tool like a sluice.

Try the silicone with another section to be fair
Agreed. Not the most scientific test.
Mats you end up woth a ton of black sand to deal with.. angus cleans itself
