That was one serious workout for Yoyoka. She's so young but was able to handle it so perfectly with really awesome power. And it didn't seem to stress or fatigue her. I really can't explain what it is that gives people like her the ability to become so outstanding at such a young age. BTW Wave, thank you for your insight. I saw this cover a few weeks ago, but there was so much that until now, I didn't see or understand.

I listened to this song so many times in my younger days, I feel like it’s coded in my DNA at this point. And she nails it. Crazy. Cozy was hard hitter with a jazz touch - look him up, and check out the original recording of this song, you will love him, and love Yoyoka even more!

At least in Japan, Cozy was the icon of double bass drum style. He influenced many drummers to change their style to double bass. And "Kill the King" was the most iconic tune for double bass drum. Still a masterpiece in 2021!!
Yoyoka definitely inherited Cozy's vibes!! Wild off beat hi-hats and the double bass/tom works during the guitar solo!! She is so versatile, AMAZING!!

As I have seen almost all of Yoyoka’s covers/performances, it’s almost a given to expect the power and impeccable technique. Her playing makes you forget again that she’s still a ‘baby’. She thrives with these complicated pieces which really showcases her awesome skills and put a shine on her gift. Such a joy to watch. Just letting her sticks do the entertaining. And I’m highly entertained.
Like you Wave, I’ve never heard of this song and group and I’m learning so much from this young lady. She introduced me to songs or artists that I’m not familiar with and I’m so grateful. Can’t wait to see who she’s covering next. But I hope (I have an inkling) the next time I see her will be at the closing of the #Olympics. She seems pretty ‘quiet’ lately. 🤞🏼

The group existed from 1974 to 1984.(with various line-ups) If you want to see some virtuoso work on the kick drums from Yoyoka, check out her version of Peter Gabriel's "Steam". Amongst the other drumming legends that Yoyoka can cover flawlessly: Neil Peart, John Bonham, Carmine Appice, Ian Paice & Stewart Copeland..She can also play adequate Keyboards, Guitar & bass. She can compose original songs too. and she's taking English lessons. Her technical progress has been scary. She is ranked (by Drummerworld) as one of the 500 best drummers in the world.

Cozy was one of my most favorite drummers ever. In fact, before leaving this comment, I just had to zip over to watch Jeff Beck and Cozy Powell jam out on a heavy funk/soul/hard rock song (sounds like a Band-Maid song don't it) called "Got The Feeling" recorded live at the Beat Club in 1971. Anyway, Rainbow is a top band, but if you check them out, there were several phases of Rainbow. You want the the first phase with Dio on vocals. Cozy played on those albums. Check out "Stargazer" (amazing drum intro) and "Man on the Silver Mountain".

There are a lot of amazing points in this video, but the tempo change at 2:27 and 2:45, which you also pointed out, changed the quick whip-like hand movements into what seems like slow motion (although the foot pedal movement is the same as before). I couldn't believe that she could go from such repetitive and fast hand movements to such precise tempo changes without stopping.
Also, her snare and toms are properly tuned and muted, so even when she hits them hard, it doesn't interfere with the singer's voice.

It's funny but I really can't believe that this young lady is only 11 years old, playing so loud and with the precision of a metronome, I don't know what to say only, WOW Lol :)

I don't really know music but it sounded like a lot of creativity there and her energy and showmanship is amazing.
I saw you asked for a Yoyoka cover of The Dance of Eternity. While you're waiting for that, Tamu of Nemophila has covered The Dance of Eternity here: ua-cam.com/video/ZsuH0xRvLbU/v-deo.html

It would be unfair to expect that Yoyoka can already play such a complex piece. She still lacks the experience and the speed with the double kicks.
Tamu was about 25 when she played it and she comes from the jazz corner.

If you liked Rainbow then you might also want to give a listen to another influential, yet strangely overlooked, British band, UFO. Particularly their 70's and 80's albums, maybe starting with Phenomenon...

Can't believe you've never heard of Rainbow bro. That's where Ronnie James Dio kind of became a household name, and then the afore mentioned Cozy Powell. And maybe you've heard of the guitarist... a guy named Ritchie Blackmore...?
Anyway, I've been a big fan for many years and Miss Yoyoka nailed it!
    Cheers!

I think she has four brains! One for each limb! Otherwise, how could they all be doing something dramatically different with each limb at the same time with only one brain!

Something has to account for the complete independent control she has of her 4+ quadrants.

Rainbow was probably the hottest band of the late seventies and was a spin of from another mega band called Deep Purple. For more of Cozy Powell you can check out his work with Emerson, Lake, and Powell, or more Rainbow from the On Stage, live album.

As a musician I know that the drummer is the one who sets the beat for the song but since she's playing along with an already produced song I will make this comment. First I think the Yoyoka is an amazing drummerbut in the first half of this song she was a little ahead of the beat but dead on in the 2nd half. Just something i noticed. She's a prodigy and I love watching her play.

It's a generational thing. Rainbow was the band founded by Ritchie Blackmore after leaving Deep Purple. Blackmore basically invented the metal shred solo, before anyone called it metal. Rainbow featured Ronnie James Dio and Cozy Powell. Dio, of course, was probably the definitive metal vocalist. Go check out everything they did, it will change your life.

I think this person is reincarnated as Cozy Powell. What an awesome young drummer. BTW I know you never heard of Rainbow or Cozy Powell she is playing it note for note, which makes it more spectacular . I've had drummers In profession bands, That did not like this song. Remember we had no speed pedals back in those days you really had to do the double kick. Calf and Ankle cramps lol So we dropped that cover lol it wasn't worth the aggravation or fighting.

Wonderful! How is that possible at her age 😀
I saw Rainbow 🌈 in 1976 on their first tour. What a band. Cozy had a big unique sound, in many ways on a par with Zepp’s John Bonham. This is one of the best concert openers. Unfortunately Ritchie didn’t rate it as highly as the fans and left it out of his Rainbow reunion concerts in 2018. There is a DVD of a great gig in Germany 🇩🇪 in 1977 which Blackmore managed to get to at the last minute as he’d been arrested on the previous gig. He intervened when a bouncer manhandled a female fan near the stage (RB broke his jaw apparently)
