this is awesome! seeing these guys and the knowledge. it also makes me think. "damn i don't know anything. my van is gona turn out like a potato" thanks Jarrod the info you putting out on this channel. It is helping me see the possibilities and shaping my future van build. cheers friend/ peace and love to all up in chat!
I really like that dividing area that does between the motorcycles and the area that you're sleeping in or eating in plus you have all that room in the back above that you could be storing stuff again
Yayyy someone who will do as much building that a customer can do/needs. Jarred please feature builders on the east coast. We have mainly seen west coast builders/solar installers from the west coast😩
If I'm back east I definitely will. There are some I tried getting in contact while there but their drive to get a feature wasn't there. And honestly I show the ones who put forth the effort and love what they do. I want to show the best, not just another builder ;-) hope that makes sense
Thanks for all the great info....So much fun to learn all you can do to a Van ...I can't wait to live this life!! Love you and support you 100% You Rock !!!
This was a great episode! Thanks for getting a behind the curtain look at building key systems for Van Life! Good move on installing a Switch to drain the Gray water tank while driving...perfect time to do it is on rainy days.
@@JOHNW2999 You have to contact Jason from the above link. ua-cam.com/users/redirect?v=Mn3tM79OnCI&event=video_description&redir_token=bsMRxhaBxENG2VaV5-9TqoD-3FJ8MTU4MTIyNTQ3N0AxNTgxMTM5MDc3&q=http%3A%2F%2Foffgridsolutionspdx.com%2F
Hi sorry. I just saw this. Not sure how I missed this one. Did you ever do a van tour of the MotoFit van after it was completed? Would really like to see the stacking system Jason was talking about. 3 bikes and sleeps 3!?!?! Amazing!!!!
Great tour! Love campulances! But I like stealth too😉 some great ideas for DIYers in this video. The floor insulation 👍🏼and all the other techie stuff. Weight def an important consideration. Love that Japanese wood. I think it is actually a burning technique that makes it fire resistant if I'm not mistaken. Wondering those storage bags/cabinets, not sure what to call them in the ultimate adventure van, are they custom too? Thx for the tour Jarrod! God bless.
Dang, I’m impressed, he definitely knows his stuff inside and out, best of all, he’s passionate about helping others. So cool. Those soft storage/cabinet thingies looked cool. Not a bad idea for using it in curved vehicles if you have problems not building in squares. I’m sure they’re a pretty penny, but getting a closer look, might be able to knock out something similar. What was that called, a pit bull what? To keep the bikes in place? I’ve gone down on a bike, but mine was pitiful. England had its first snow in a couple of years, it was my first bike, I was driving down a curvy hill from school and went right underneath a work van that had a high carriage. I just slid right under. Can’t remember if it was just part of the bike or half of it, you know how stories get bigger over the years. Anyways, scared the hell of the van driver. Me too. He pulled me and the bike out and helped brush the snow off. I was all good, just a few bruises for bagging rights was all. I’ve saved this video because I know I will more than likely be ordering one of his kits when I’m doing my own build. God bless him, I have a feeling he’s going to be saving me a lot of sweat and tears. Thanks for this video, it is so full of great information. Amazing and well done. Good questions too.
This was a great video, so informative. I do have a question if you or anyone can answer. He was talking about moisture in the vans as if it is an ongoing problem. So will you have moisture on your clothes and everything or will a max air or similar help with that? I don't want to wake up with wet bedding and moldy clothes.
Not likely. The moisture is mostly due to temps differ from being cold outside and hot inside and it being a metal structure. There's moisture in homes too and when building a home they use something called a vapor barrier which captures the moisture in the wall. Hard to explain everything in text. With using the heaters we use in van life it's typically dry heat and actually absorbs or dries out the moisture on the inside so nothing technically should be damp inside. Hope that kinda makes sense
He is DEFINITELY a diy dream!!! Awesome work on all of the vehicles. Several ppl are asking about the soft, canvass type cabinets @18:41. Can you tell us about them or provide link? Thanks. Oh, by the way, I went onto IG WHILE watching this video to follow him.
I'm kicking myself for not asking more about those! I don't know anything about them unfortunately. I can ask him to look at the comments and see if he can answer. Or you can try and message him on IG
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Could you please spell out the name of the wood from Japan in your friends personal van? Pica Pica? Don't think I am spelling it correctly. Or the actual Asian name? Also, what do you call those nylon looking cabinets in the last van build shown? And where can you purchase them? Thanks again.
Shou Sugi Ban or Pika Pika is the wood. The upper nylon cabinets I'm not sure where they are. I'd search van conversion products or something along those lines
Absolutely! I've talked to Troy from Van Life Tech a bunch about that. I believe they will eventually move into the tiny home space. If you'd like feel free to email them info@vanlifetech.com if interested
Hello Jarrod, first of all, Love the Vids you'll do! Most of your Friends & Van Connects are Central to West Coast, from what I've seen. Do you know of any East Coast, especially Atlanta area?
I hope to make more friends down on that side of the country. Currently no but I have some in the north east. You don't have to be close to your van to get it built 😉 but I know where you're coming from
Lord Scott that’s my question/request, too. I’m on Long Island and no one here I know does this type of building. All I’ve seen is over priced tiny homes.
@@Musicescape17 question for you both. Why does the builder need to be on the east coast? You can bring a van to the west and have it done. However I understand if you want to do some of the build yourself and have someone else do the harder things. Sadly the northeast I feel is in a bubble (and I'm from there). Most I know when I first told them about "vanlife" didn't understand it. In time there will be more builders out there and when that happens I'll jump on the opportunity to feature them
@@Musicescape17 I think a guy with a company called RoamRig.com is in CT. I think he is a VanLifeTech installer. Then there is HumbleRoad outside of the NYC area. He is not associated with VanLifeTech but does great conversions. He has a wonderful YT channel, but a small one-man show for now. I am in KY and looking for a builder. I am even thinking of moving to Portland and renting a cheap apartment while the van is being built, so I can be close by. Then living out of it fulltime. I'm still 6 to 12 months away from pulling the trigger though. Still in big-time planning stage.
Those Ambulances rock, but for some reason even if there diesel, their owners never discuss miles per gallon, and trust me, there is a reason why. You can fund a 45 foot luxury coach rv for the same amount.
Wow! What s great shop! I have 50 gal of fresh on board and only a 35 gal grey tank which fills up too quickly. I need more info about that ball valve grey tank system. Could I get one installed on my Short Class A around here? I am on the east coast. Va now but Fl after Jan
All About Scooters can you put electric scooters in there that would be Sharp I do a lot of swap meets and I'm now a crippled so I need to have my scooters so I can go around and buy or sell or trade items that I need. So can you do the same system with scooters and have a petition after the scooters and then have a area above the scooters that you can like a Murphy bed where it can go down flush or go up on the side on either sides0

Add AIR LIFT bladder to the rear springs, progressive, adjustable, works like pneumatic sway bar

Awesome!
Can you recommend anyone down in Southern California who can install a remote ball valve gray water dump?
Why do want/need an electric operated gray water tank? Are you trickle dumping while driving?
Much easier to dump water no matter in motion or not. Yes I can open slightly and trickle out if needed

The upper cabinets in the van before you toured the shop. They were canvas correct?
