my only issue is that my wheel deck side pillars arent that tall, the height that my wheelbase is mounted at is literally at the very top, they're only 58cm heights, so I guess, Could I just lay the angled profile on the pillar, or get a spare bracket and screw it on the side lower down?
You could definitely do that or even just put the profile on the side of the pillar rather than on the front of it, and then just attach the boxes at more of an offset to the left to make up for the extra distance from your hands!
A 2X2 or 2X4 would be a lot cheaper but you would have to be able to cut the right sizes and angles. Also relatively easy to move things around, just screw in to a different spot and maybe drill a hole, but not move multiple times.
Thanks for watching! Yes I made the passenger side it was really simple, those nets I’m using at the moment are custom made; but I was using nets I made myself before that. I will make how to videos for both of these in the future 👍
I have plan do something like this but left side my rig, contain is, Racelogic display, Evil Rank Driver display and / or Streamdeck and / or Button box like your set.
Top notch, Alex! I really dig the simplest of diy projects the most! 💪 But… is it fire proof?! 😂 I’ll rework my interior next year so I’m thankful for any input regarding this topic! Have a good week! 👋
Well there’s a fire extinguisher but it’s empty so if rig catches fire I am done for 😂 look I would say it’s fine as I’ve used the rig a fair bit this past year and I’ve never had any issues, just keep it clean of dust etc you don’t want too much build up. The way I wrapped my button boxes is not ideal as it was my first time back then, I’ll have to redo them. Apart from that the rig is very easy to keep clean of dust etc.
Great view Alex, really insightful and helpful. Just need video how to make the passage floor and attached the window nets etc. Keep up the great work!!

Yeah as you can clearly see in this video on the boxes 😂 to be fair though all you need is one of those lint rollers like I used in the video and it’s really easy to keep it clean, it’s just a daily process is all
@@secret_one nah you can only notice it up close so in videos etc it never shows, I also have carbon fibre wrap which doesn’t attract dust but gives a bit of a shine on camera.
No problem man, I’ve been so busy with LMU stuff that I haven’t been able to make a guide video on it. It’s just a piece of diamond plate from hardware store that I put 2 holes in and then bolted it to a piece of aluminium profile. Then attached to the rig
Hey bro I like it a lot however the foam inside handgrips is about thin, I would have preferred the wheel with rubber grips instead. The one I am using is called Simedal X-GT
Thanks for video. I am now step of building these to my rig and luckily i have big cardboard box of my electric mountain bike what i was going to throw away but i think i use it for material for rig :)
Hi buddy, first of all ty so much for this guide, i've been looking for something like that since long time but never found any on youtube so ty ❤ I have just a little question, can i do the exact same thing but with an GT-Omega triple screen STAND ?? cuz my rig is an OPLITE so it's not aluminium profil
Hey mate thanks for watching! Could you post a picture of your rig on our discord so I can see what you mean? Then we can try figure it out :) discord.gg/twSE9Hjj7f
Good question and thanks for watching. 1. If you try to match that top right hole up with the corner bracket then it will limit the lateral (lift-right) customisation as the channel for that hole is very small. 2. To be honest another way you could do it is place a corner bracket at the top and bottom of the bar. Then put the boxes on the bar and then push them firmly together with the corner brackets and then tighten (kind of like a vice) and then that would also be a good way to do it.
Moooola! Cooool! 😎😎 but my problem is I have a Shifter sequential, a Handbrake and a shifter H... and I have no space for a buttonbox like yours... I have put it behind all these stuff in vertical position, and its difficult to access to it 😅... I would post a pic to show you but I dont know how. (sorry my englissshhhh)
Yeah I know is some people have this problem! You can maybe get some extra piece of profile and still have it vertically but make it closer to you! You can do anything with aluminium profile!
@@alexkayracing the sequential shifter and handbrake are a distance perfect for me.... if I brought them closer to me, it wouldn't be comfortable or realistic.
@@Dani_Jari sorry I meant you could put a small piece of profile sticking out so that you can attach the button box to that vertically to make it closer to you, it’s probably easier to show you 😂
They are done with aluminium profile at the back of the rig, you can see how we built it here: ua-cam.com/video/LsG2gjbgFKo/v-deo.htmlsi=eZjlNLVdO7PTDDcJ
I like mine to look clean and neat at all times i guess your application is for videos. Also it maybe cheap for materials but in total with button boxes you need my console cost a minimum of £400 to build with button boxes
You can make your own boxes cheaper, the whole point is you can save quite a lot doing it this way as opposed to using wood and building a structure. My setup is clean most of the time but it can gather dust pretty quickly. Only thing for my boxes is because they were my first ones I wrapped I didn’t know how to wrap them properly, in the future when I decide to re-wrap them I know how to make it look clean and smooth; for now there’s no need because you can’t see any of that in videos, only up close.
I want to do something like this with the button boxes on the right-hand side and a shifter on the left as I'm from the UK, does anyone have any ideas on how i could do this
I think now it’s getting close to where VR is almost an always viable solution. I remember when I started simracing it was in VR, and even with an RTX 3080 at the time that GPU still wasn’t enough to get a decent frame rate without lowering the graphics and reducing the experience. But now I think thinks are getting pretty close especially with this quest 3 headset
Leave any questions in the comments and I’ll get back to you! Thanks for watching 🔥
So helpful, I'm setting up my triples next week and been planning to make one of these, this is gonna be something to rewatch in a few weeks!

Why would you attach with tape when there's mounting holes on the back of the button box that rests against a corner bracket?

How to make a console: buy button boxes, mount button boxes. Worthless. 0/10 & dislike.
I think you’re being a little over the top there? You could easily do it without button boxes and use stream decks etc, use your imagination.
