- Judice Brothers Farms using two whole stalk cane harvesters to cut a field of sugar cane. There's also video of loading the burnt cane into wagons with a cane loader.
This is very creative of the man who designed these machines. It makes life so much easier
All of y'all are doing one heck of a job with the sugar cane industry... thank you for sharing y'alls video...
These machines are wild looking! Looks kinda like a airport control tower on wheels. Very cool love to see them in depth
LMAO, never heard them described like that for sure..... glad you enjoyed it!
Interesting they didn't show the billowing clouds of smoke when they burn the fields.
I am from Louisiana, I don't see those machines anymore. Everything is the new harvesters that cut the cane and goes direct into the trailer. I was watching yesterday around New Iberia
WAYNE DESHOTEL There's a few of these whole stalk operations left.. but yes most have switched to combine harvesters.
@@AerialAg yea, I actually live around Bunkie, La. where they plant alot of cane and all are the harvesters.
WAYNE DESHOTEL I live in Thibodaux, only combines around here too. The mills on this end don't except whole stalk cane at all.
It's a powerful sight, with these machines.
I've seen sugar cane loaded with a bell loader.
They are quite special loaders.
I do not think it was the guys first day running that loader. Cool.

Are y’all going shoot blanchards 2 row cameco again this season? Would really like to see another video on that one
I haven't talked to them yet, but that's one I'd like to re-visit with my new drone.. So probably yes.
Cody Danos I wish someone was filming on Rienzi Plantation back in the late 80’s early 90’s I really missed that place n the people also I would love to know who bought Larry Clement 2 row Broussard Harvester
a question, the machine has no problem cutting? if the cane is crooked or curved
Sorry it took me so long to watch your video! Been busy. Very nice job! Must fell and look odd seeing the canes all dried up from the frost you Guys got. Here they are driving pickup trucks onto the lakes and ice fishing. We have 10” of ice they say.
Why does one cutter have no paint? Or is it a grey looking paint? How often does the cane start burning again in the wagon?
Brp Fan The cane doesn't burn in the wagon, probably just ash blowing off.. that old cane harvester is actually a very interesting story. The farmers father who is 90 years old now actually designed and built that harvester himself . He was friends with the man who owned Broussard Cane Equipment (the red cane machines) and eventually sold he design to him. So you could say it was the prototype for what would become the red cutter.. They also designed and built the cane loader they are using here. I'm planning on going talk to them more this offseason and learn more of this history as it greatly interest me..
Aerial Ag Oh wow that is a very interesting story! Would love to hear more about it!
Guyana should get those if they don't have already
Interesting. Seems there is a wide variety of machines and methods to harvesting cane. I would have thought that by now a method would have risen to the top as the most efficient and economical.
There's definitely differing opinions around here on which way is best. The combine harvesters do a better job cleaning the field and getting more cane out. The whole stalk method does less damage to the land if its wet due to much less traffic through the field.. it's also cheaper on maintenance and fuel.
The most efficient would be the newer combine harvester that harvest and chop the cane. It's the way the majority of the cane is harvested in Louisiana now but there are still some that use the whole stalk method, among the reasons is the new equipment is obviously expensive
@@AerialAg interesting where we can buying them
Cane cart needs to speed up he is wasting a lot of time for the cane picker having to back up all the time not very efficient operation guys hours lost every day of harvest, thanks for sharing good quality video
Very good man
Legal muito bom
thank you for the video. question: what would be the difference between whole stalck and chopped cutting, we use JD 3520 Combined Models.
Going by what the farmer told me, the main difference is running expenses. They spend a lot less on fuel and maintenance cutting whole stalk. He said they leave a bit more cane in the field, but they still prefer to run whole stalk when they can.
I wonder do the mills take both chopped and whole cane stalks 🤔
Hi, I am looking for this same kind of harvester can you help me with any information?
They don't make them anymore, and the people who have them tend to hold on to them pretty tight. Google Progressive Tractor in Parks La. call them they may be able to help you.
Hi, are they still manufacturing the HARVESTERS?
Currently no, but I heard if there is enough demand they may make some more.. Contact Progressive Tractor and Implement in Parks Louisiana and talk to them
@@AerialAg Thank you
What farm do you work at?
None.. I've just loved ag equipment my whole life. That mixed with having photography as a hobby led me here.
Looka Dizzy bawww
This is kind of inefficient since you then have to follow with a can grab ana a cart which is slow. but the video is really good
awesome video, you definitely wouldnt want a fire to get in the field in mid swathing, damn that would be scary, how fast can those little swathers go?
Thanks ! They can move pretty damn fast if the cane is standing straight. They have to go much slower when the cane is a bit lodged like it was here. This way of harvesting bring me back to my childhood playing in the cane fields during grinding. A lot of farms have switched to the combine style harvesters.
what is the brand of that machine ?
Broussard
Want is it use for?
Have a good day be safe
Harvesting sugar cane ?
Use to watch them harvest with the cane knife . Bet that itched .
jk lp
pm.
what's with all the smoke?
After they cut and stack the cane into heaps it is burnt to remove all the trash leaves. So if you're talking about when the cane loader is loading the wagons, that's all just ash and soot.
They burn sugar cane which is a good way to make some extra cash on the cane
whole stalk
thats an unusual way to harvest sugar cane.
These days yes but about 10 years ago this was the way the majority of louisiana cane was harvested
@@glennrobichaux7490 Here In Australia, we burn the trash then they cut the cane and it gets chopped up and goes straight into a chaser bin, and goes to the mill.
@@Bernie5172 her now they use the combine harvesters that chop the cane and its loaded into chasers then dumped into semi trailers and hauled to the mill. They burn the left over leafy parts left in the field later
How much..?
When is the ending date?
A lot of the mills have already finished up, a few are going till around the 29th-30th I believe.
Machines seem kinda crude compared to row crop farming equipment
They were... These machines were built by small companies in South Louisiana for a very niche market. They didn't have the resources to make things as nice as the major manufacturers. The silver cutter in this video was actually designed and built by the farmer in the early 80's. He sold the design which later became the red machine.
@@AerialAg thanks for the info. I'm from Nothern Illinois and no nothing about sugar cane production.
Brad Leverton No problem.. I find the history of Louisiana sugar cane equipment to be very interesting. One day I'd love to make a book about it .. oh well, thanks for watching!
I want to work these machines
Hi guys,I was wondering if you would know of any cane farmer that would have implements to sell that cover the sugar cane in the open row ,any phone number please
Impressive that you guys still use harvesting techniques that involve burning. That shit aint good for the lungs.

What kind of plant is this?
Tractorfilmer Sugar cane
@@AerialAg Interesting to see how it works, we don't have that in the Netherlands. You should make a hole movie from planting to suger!
@@Agrifilmer That may be something I do after grinding is over. There is a video that goes through the whole process if you're interested:
