Containing very old (minimum 10 years) and high quality eaux-de-vie, this Cognac pairs perfectly with a high end cigar. Boasting an average age of 20 years, the flavor profile is wonderfully harmonized, featuring fruity, spicy and woody elements, providing that classic earthy feel you'd find in any quality XO, lending itself particularly well to the leathery, tobacco aromas of a luxury cigar.
The smooth smoking experience of a classic Genevan Davidoff cigar is replicated when drinking this delightful XO. Every sip is luxurious and lengthy, perfectly balanced. Experience warm winter fruity fragrances with a complex nose of plum and prunes, hints of licorice, honey and cloves compliment the woody notes of red cedar that are the result of many years of maturation.
On the palate, plum and peaches provide a sweeter element to this XO, a powerful fruity punch that permeates the dominant woody, walnut and spiced flavor profile that ends on a long and persistent finish.
How to Enjoy
This Cognac has an excellent and sturdy body that pairs perfectly with a cigar, of course, we recommend trying it with a cigar from the Genevan luxury tobacco specialists Davidoff! Any of their "Aniversario" cigars would balance well with the aromatic richness of this XO, notes of leather and spices would complement the earthy, woody tones of the Davidoff XO Cognac.
Presentation of the Bottle
Thanks to the recent purchase of Davidoff by Hine, the bottle's design falls in line with their sleek and stylish carafes and innovative ideas when it comes to branding. Boasting a wide oval shape, it's art-deco aesthetic stopper makes it a beautiful display piece to present on any drinks shelf or home bar.
The tall slender neck of the bottle is reminiscent of a cigar, a subtle and respectful nod to Davidoff's luxury tobacco products. Its beautiful silver label matches the elegant metallic cap.
The bottle equally comes with a leather box (not dissimilar to a classic cigar box...) for gifting, storage or display purposes, proudly displaying its "premium" quality on the label, destined for those classy Cognac connoisseurs to are lucky enough to try it.
DAVIDOFF XO is the acme of the perfect harmony between aromatic intensity and smoothness. It's contemporary unique decanter and compilation of 25 Cognac eaux-de-vie from Grande and Petite Champagne, Fin Bois and Bon Bois are beautiful.
Aged over 17 years in Limousin oak. The first 7 months in new oak barrels to create the vanilla and then in lightly charred (5 to 40-year-old) barrels.
The cognac is diamond-bright. The nose is highly complex, with pleasant floral accents combined smooth fruitiness and honey aromas, followed by flavors of of sweet spices pepper, and leather.
The mouth is intense yet smooth and silky, with a delicate blend of summer fruits (apricots and peaches) followed by honey, cloves and walnut, ending on lasting soft wood aromas.
Pairs well with Cuban cigars and chocolate.
