- In contrast to Joshua Tree National Park, The Mojave National Preserve is far more rugged and wild. Many possibilities for those who want to experience the desert untamed.

Slim, I subscribed a while back after watching the ammo can stove. So, I thought of you as a clever repurposer. Now I find out you're giving Nat. Geo. a run for their money in well filmed and narrated videos. You are a man of many talents . I find your videos entertaining, interesting, and informative. Keep 'em comming!!
What he said!

Same here!
I'm retired and watch gobs of youtube. I'd say Slim Potatohead is about the best around.....very nice QUALITY!

This is the real deal. No drama, just good information. Slim has come a long way with his camera skills. I was professional photographer for 25 years back in the film days. He puts many people to shame with the quality. I love his use of early morning light and late afternoon lighting.
Makes Monday a bit more bearable!
Colours in the sky at the end are amazing. Thanks for sharing bud👍🏻
They were outstanding!
Yeah stuff like that kinda warms my soul. Stay healthy and happy.
L. O. V. E. Your choice of music for this vid. You knocked it out of the park
Agreed!
You're in California, you go out exploring, you come back and your car, trailer and bike are still there??? Wonders never cease to amaze me! Beautiful desert scenery, Mr. Slim.
You more likely to get ripped off in the city.I feel safer boondocking.
I fully expected to see Jim Morrison out there dancing in lazy circles. Live long Jim. Live long.
You sure know how to make a good video. Interesting places and great music. Thank you. 😀
The Joshua tree at 17:53. That brilliant green against the black night sky is absolutely stunning. Greetings from Manitoba and thanks for sharing this marvelous video.
Love it,love it,love it ,,,,,Truly an awesome video.Thank you for sharing.
Amazing videography and narration. Thanks for sharing!
Another good one Slim.
Simply a fantastic video. Stunning photography :)
Wow, Slim. I think this is your best ever. Really enjoyed this trip. Nice colour grading as well. Brilliant. 😎 -Mark

Amazing views of Mojave. I loved every minute. Thanks for sharing, SP. 🐶
A really excellent piece- watching from the UK
Super video Slim. I was at the Sand Dunes NP last spring and yes, the sand an be brutal in the wind. Superb photography and story telling. Trolls, ghouls and ogres - and Potatoheads!
Great video love all the holes in the walls of the moutains Thanks for a wonderful trip
You da man Slim. Another really pleasant video. You are very good at your craft my friend. Please keep it up.
Your use of polarizing filter is exquisite, love the deep blue skies :-)
Great video. The red sunset was marvelous. The Joshua Trees were impressive. Thanks for sharing.
I remember many things from living in the Mojave as a child, you showed me things that I never saw before in this video, thanks for another outstanding tour.
Great scenery and photography! Thank you. We don’t know if we will ever get there so thanks for letting us experience the Mojave through your video.
Judy and Guy
You have come a long ways with your B roll over the last 3years , keep up the hard work .🙏
Great video on a rainy day in February. Good job Slim.
Can't wait to see your slider combined with a Milky Way timelapse.
This is some outstanding work Slim. Those sky shots at the end were something else.
Nice Slim Great photography!
Wow! This is an awesome video. Watched it on my big screen TV and the colors were mesmerizing!! What a beautiful place!! Definitely on my bucket list!
Very nice capture of those Black-throated Sparrows at 3:38! Who says the desert is drab, I think Black-throateds are the most attractive sparrows to be seen.
The beauty is amazing.
Wow great video!
Beautiful video and still shots. The unexpected color in the starkness is breathtaking. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic vid Slim, beautiful videography my friend.
I was beginning to exhibit withdrawal symptoms I'm so addicted to your videos; it seems so long since your last video. Loved the music & your hat when you wandered around the cars @Devil's playground. Slim, consider wearing a think pair of gloves when out hiking, something to protect the palms & fingers of your hands if you trip & fall.
I sincerely hope you will visit the nearby Bristlecone Pine Forest North of Bishop, CA. These Bristlecone Pines grow in only 2 places, the other is in the Great Basin National Forest in Eastern Nevada.
Extraordinary footage. Great narration. Love the lava tube. Mojave added to my go see list.
Ah man! Freakin' outstanding! Great photography. Diggin' the new parallel bars for the camera.
Stunning- thank you for sharing with us ❤️👏😁x
Well done!
Can't beat the sunrise or sunsets in the desert. I loved them when I lived out in Tucson and still have the memories of those wonderful days and nights. Thanks for allowing us to share on your adventures!
I really enjoy your videos. You have a wonderful story telling style.
This video has it all: humor, beauty, history... love the quintet/kazoo comment, and the dust swirling in the light shafts, oh my... and of course your creativity expressed in so many ways. Thank you Slim!
"quartet of bees came in, a quintet because they had a kazoo player " ...this made me laugh.
Thank you....so many contrasts, so much stark beauty...you've done an excellent job capturing it! Continued journey mercies!
Greetings Slim from the desert boondocking heaven SW of Yuma! I look forward to each of your incredible videos since I am following your journey in my little camper van. Thank you for the inspiration!
I am currently up trail from a newfound friend’s campsite. Larry is a 66 year old solo traveler who has an Aframe trailer. He really struggles with setting up his roof so we’re building a “Slim Potatohead raise the roof cantilever” tool. Gracious amigo from Larry and me!
LOVE the camera slide! Adds a nice new dimension to your videography!
Those photos at the end were fantastic...you should frame them and put them up for sale.
Yes I certainly did enjoy your vid! Good job Slim👍😄👌🏻
There's a stillness and peacefulness in your videos that let us (the viewers) actually experience nature from her tiniest creations to her most grand and spectacular. Thank you.
The last time I was on the 15 the desert was in bloom! It's a beautiful place. Thank you.
Wow! Amazingly beautiful!! and great videography. PS: I'd get lost exploring those formations.
As a Brit who has only so far visited the area outside Mesa AZ, the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley, your videos are showing me so many other places to visit next time. Thank you for being so informative. I fell in love with the deserts and can’t wait to get back again!
Thanks again for sharing your talents. You inspire us, give us hope, beauty and entertainment. You are brilliant, gorgeous, fabulous and talented!
Always like seeing you doing projects and puttering.😊. Great video
Slim, you are in my old stomping grounds, born in the Mojave desert and lived there for 37 years! Loved seeing the desert again.
Another VLOG of Awesome Scenery.
I love the grandeur of the desert, especially when it's been it's been rained on and there's so many colors from the flowers and from the beautiful sunsets and sunrises. I was stationed at 29 Palms with the Marines and actually got to drive a generals wife and an ambassadors wife on a tour of the Joshua tree national monument. I was driving an olive drab 1974 Ford LTD and I was the duty driver for the day at the motor pool and was glad that I was, for once! I love the desert!
Forgot to say that you've really captured it's beauty! Excellent photography and cinematography!
The Video is so good. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing, Slim. Safe travels.
Honestly, some of the best night sky footage on youtube. Your filming style has really evolved over time and its stunning. Bravo!
A great video, you get a thumbs up from me
You have a wonderful way with words.
Wow, the Mohave, an artist's dream. Centipedes and lee-zards, rocks and sunsets. Thank you so much, Slim. Your vids are incredible. Seventeen years on a mesa in northern NM then forced into "neighborhood" living, yep, eager to get on the road and back to the boonies.
Wow, you really outdid yourself with this video! Also, I like the artistic effect of your new camera slide.
Great video
Stunning photography
Cheers from Quebec !
What a super awesome video. The Mojave Preserve has been a family favorite for over 40 years.
Beautiful, sunset colors at the end were amazing.
Slim, your narrations are the best... not to mention your make-shift repairs. I wouldn't think of the stuff you create in the same time as the Mojave has been around. I can't wait to see your future videos when you travel with your new trailer.
18 minutes and 44 seconds.... The first 17:48, pretty good... the LAST minute - FANTASTIC!! Great Job!!
Your videos always feel like a TV show!
FANTASTIC Slim. And as the last FAN commented, national geographic has nothing over you! Simply AMAZING.
Hi Slim, i am a fairly recent sub to your channel, and just wanted to say i think the channel and your video's are really great. Thank you.
Beautifully shot, written, and narrated! I love your stuff! Always excellent!
I spent time in the Mojave when I was in the Army . I loved it . I remember hearing the train off in the distance . I could see it but since there wasn't anything to measure just how far away it actually was stumped me . I believe it had to be a few miles away .
Slim. your videos are wonderful. We are Aliner owners/explorers of the American SW and your experiences are dead on. You are truly the "real deal."
Ha! About a minute before you mentioned Jim, I started singing "My Wild Love Went Riding... She Road All The Day"
I have watched almost every one of your videos, but it seems that each one, no matter whether which one I view, your photography is simply outstanding. I am an advanced photographer, and I know more than the guy who just fell off the turnip truck. Slim, you really know how to tell a story in pictures. I always like the way you break up the videos with your little repair jobs. I have said this before, but I have been a boater on the Ohio River for 50 years, and there is not that much difference.
Keep up the good work.
Exquisite captures. Thank you for sharing. Totally enjoy every single one.
Vivid colors and clarity of the whole video was just fantastic. NICE
With the NASA T Shirt and the Stetson, I was waiting for a space cowboy pun. Great video!👍👍
Breathtakingly beautiful!! Thank you for taking me to a place I will never be able to go. I'm a railfan, so loved seeing the train.
Slim is a gem
Wow! Loved your use of music in this one! Gorgeous 'cinematography' and lighting. Thank you for taking us on your journey.
Beautiful videography Slim. Keep up the great work!
I am grateful to you. You take me to places I may never get to, make me feel tje beauty of it, the dangers, pleasantness and serenity. All the while, you educate and yes, even entertain.
You are an excellent photographerb editor and copy writer. I have enjoyed many of your videos more than once.
Thanks. You are appreciated.
Luv this video! A little bit of hiking, fixing something, landscape shots , nightsky, gazing into the wilderness, three things missing were playing your mandolin, wildlife photos and cooking food.
Mandolin didn't make it this trip. Wildlife is at 3:38. As for cooking food, well, what I've concocted so far would scare anyone! Thanks, SP
We really enjoyed this. I spent 18 years trucking from southern Alberta down through Baker. I always wondered what it was like off the beaten path around Baker. Thank you for showing us the beauty that I missed. Travel safe and keep the videos coming.
Always traveling along with Slim
Thanks Slim , for letting us join you on your adventures ,true your fabulous videos and sometimes hilarious narration. Your kazoo playing bee made me laugh out loud. Keep up the good works and be safe. Keep on trucking !...
I don’t know why, but these videos help me sleep. Keep them coming!!
I m so glad we've got clever and artistic Canadians nearby when we crave a view of our beautyfull back yard. Thanks Slim, your work is getting more spectacular every video. And I think you have a new camera.very nice.
Spectacular vistas. 🏜
One of your best posts yet Slim. The lava tubes were shot perfectly.
Your video and timelapse is excellent! Thanks!
....Slim, you're amazing. Writing, narrating, editing, photography.....almost BBC....in an A liner..
Another great video Slim...You have a great talent and should be working for National Geographic....Well done and thumbs up.
I agree . Watching Slim's videos is like watching a great documentary on PBS or on National Geographic .
