  • This video is the last of our Ram Promaster Stereo Upgrade videos. Technically, we did the rear speaker install first, so sorry for posting these out of order! Please like, comment and subscribe if you like our content or if it was helpful to you! We are happy to help with questions, just leave them in the comments section!
    The rear speaker install for the Ram Promaster is pretty easy. The hardest part is figuring out how to reprogram the stereo to give power to the back. We show you how to find the upfitter location for wiring, where to run wires, and how to reprogram your stereo to an 8x8 configuration. Watch our other videos for information on how to Upgrade the Front Speakers or how to Install a Subwoofer. By the time you're done, you'll be bumpin!
    You'll need a few tools and supplies for this project:
    Polk Audio 6x9 Speakers: amzn.to/3WijW4Q
    Ferrule Kit: amzn.to/3QoylbY
    Ancor Marine 12AWG Wire: amzn.to/44jFMXI
    Wire Stripper/Cutter: amzn.to/3QpAnJ8
    Electrical Tape: amzn.to/3WjJxKT
    You'll also need to design the rear speaker mount for the door. We made a template out of cardboard, then simply used 3/4" Plywood for the finished product. Once we upholstered it with auto upholstery, it was done! You'll need self-tapping metal screws to screw the wood panels to the door. Pro Tip: The doors are technically different sizes. Don't make the cardboard for one side and assume that it will the other door. Double check both doors before you cut wood pieces.

    Higher sensitivity speakers is what you need. Or external amplifier. Sound dampening to quiet the road noise will also help. The amp inside the factory radio is pretty garbage I think.
    Look for speakers with higher dB/watt. Anything over 90dB/watt is pretty good.
    Also distortion even at low power will blow a speaker. Keep that in mind. I’m working on 3D printed speaker pods for the dash that I’m thinking will really help my Promaster’s sound.

      Yeah, we put in an amplified sub and it's been sounding great. For some reason, the 2019 stock stereo gets much louder than the 2017 we used to have. So that helps. Hope your 3d printed parts work well for you!

    Hey Y’all and thanks for your time! The one Question EVERYONE NEEDS TO BE ANSWERED IS...,what are the Wiring Colors for each Rear Speaker at that connector!!?? 1k of us have been asking for years!!!! What are they!? Xoxo

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching!! The colors don't matter when you're using the upfitter, which is located in the passenger pillar. You only need the wiring diagram if you're wiring behind the head unit. If you don't have the upfitter, we did find the wiring diagram online at some point in our research but I can't remember what the colors are at this point. If I can find it, you can too!

    Do you still have like 1196 ferrules? Can I connect with you to get 4?

      My guess is that we do and we could probably make that happen. Send us an email at thedrifterjourney@gmail.com and we'll see what we can do.

    Hey guys thanks for the video!
    Question: What type of adapters "ferrules" do you use to plug into the board? thanks!

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  3 роки тому +1

      Hey! The ferrule kit is linked in the description along with a few other things you might need. Here is the kit www.amazon.com/Ferrule-Crimping-Tool-Kit-0-08-10mm%C2%B2/dp/B07K17VDF2

    How did you get the ferrules to fit in the upfitter? When I use that crimping tool it makes the ferrules square and the holes are round.

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  2 роки тому +1

      While the hole you see is round, where the ferrule goes is actually square. If you can't get the ferrule into the hole, try to rotate it slightly to align the square. It's possible that you may need a smaller ferrule also.

    How did you make the panels for the speakers?

    • @DrifterJourney
      @DrifterJourney  2 роки тому +1

      We made a cardboard template, following the contours of the recessed area around the speaker hole. Be sure to make one for each side as they're not symmetrical. Then we used the template to cut 3/4 plywood panels. Test fit, then trim/sand if needed. Then cover with automotive upholstery using spray adhesive.
