Just for your reference... the earth's core has molten magma including plasmic matter. Plasma is nothing different than a gas but has a charge.
according to Maxwell equations, an moving charge would produce a magnetic field around. Since the earth rotates on its axis..these charged particles set up magnetic fields around them. These small atomic magnets act as a huge magnet and therefore produce a magnetic field around Earth. HOPE this helps
