These horses are extremely well cared for , they are exercised in the park early morning , fed and watered then those on ceremonial duty are there for I hour . They are then rubbed down fed and watered . There are videos of guards bringing out buckets of water the horses seem just to play with it . They are not going to become dehydrated in an hour .
They’re officially called “plumes”. Red plumes if you belong to the Blues and Royals regiment, white plumes if you belong to the Life Guards regiment. They share duties here at Horse Guards.
@@Bandomeme I would be lovely if someone could almost narrate what is going on, what the uniforms signify and the different movements. But the noise would almost make that impossible. Everyone should be kept behind the bollards at ALL TIMES there is NO need for people to crowd around the guard and his horse!
Behind the bollards is generally for pedestrians walking up and down Whitehall.

Sorry, I thought she was asking about this video. Yes, they do change the mounted sentries every hour.

Do the horses get a drink of water when on duty. Especially on really hot days? They could become dehydrated 😮
I think they only do an hour at a time Avril, but I agree, in fact I think it should be stopped altogether, poor things.
