I have been researching Matera ever since I discovered my family was from there a few years ago. They were the Ferraù family, the barons of Galeso, and have a palazzo in Matera. I would love to go one day and walk in the footsteps of my ancestors.
Wow! Amazing story Dan.

Magnificent Matera! Thank you for this beautiful video. 😊
I’ll be there next November. I’m so glad you posted what it will be like that time of year. Magical!
Stunning. The older I get the more I realize now "backward" as a description is so crazy. This place is so "forward" and beautiful.
Really enjoying your content, especially on Calabria. It’s my parents birthplace and i visit each summer, it amazes me how few tourists visit the area it has some of the most beautiful beaches and Mountain View’s not to mention the food. Keep it up 👍🏻
Thank you so much Tony!
I was going to ask if you were planning on exploring Matera, and voila. Extraordinary.
Haha, yep, but their spirit remains ;)
Wonderful glimpse into a unique part of the world. Thanks for pointing out the gelato as well!!

I lived in Martina Franca for a few months in 2017 for work. I heard about Matera and went to see it for myself, and it was breathtaking. Unfortunately, I did not spend enough time and missed the replica house of how they lived, so thank you for the tour. Love your style, and I am now following you. GRAZIE!

We will be seeing Matera in 5 weeks. Cannot wait. Discovered it via UA-cam during lockdowns and will be our first international trip since you know what.
That's super exciting Ben, you're gonna love it! Enjoy!

We have recently been to Matera. a place where my greatgrardfather came from. His surname was CILIBERTi. Does anybody have any idea of the surname.
We somehow were shown round the Sassi by a person (an angel) whose name is Michelangelo Trotta Bruno. Does anybody know about him?.
Am sorry, but my Italian is very, very limited. Thank you. Malta
But of course, any forther information would be highly appreciated.

Hi Vincent, I know this surname by not from Matera, from Accettura (very close to Matera). Best regards!
Too bad you did not speak to the film crew. The Imma Tataranni - Sostituto Procuratore TV show filmed there for the past few years.
There was very hard security, all very secretive
You seem to have a blood connection to Basilica, do you?
I don't! :)
@@ItalyGuy where in Italy 🇮🇹 do your ancestors come from?
Matera very nice and Polita/ no graffiti there
Beautiful, but looks boring. I'll probably just come for a quick half day trip
