Yes he was. Elvis said Dean was his favorite singer. He wanted to see Dean one time. Deans office told him he had to go to the golf course. So Elvis and one of his guys went to the golf course. They found Dean and for a joke Elvis started singing one line of his songs. Dean was laughing so they talked for a while then when Elvis started to leave he told Elvis will you do me a favor buddy ? Elvis said site, he said don’t sing my songs will you? Lol Elvis said you got it. They said Elvis was thrilled. The colonel wouldn’t let Elvis be on Dean Martins show. He said they wouldn’t pay enough. Elvis wanted to be on it.
That manager of Elvis, Colonel Tom Parker, really hurt Elvis! He took advantage of him and Elvis just didn't know any better. It was a real shame, Elvis led a very restricted style because of Col. Parker. And, he hurt him financially all those years.
Dean MARTIN. the only human ,human who exposes all that is good in the best and dearest emotions which we are all born with sadly every one of us on this planet cannot display. Dean Martin was the greatest singer and entertainer in history.Dean always made you feel good and you were never bored. Dean will be missed forever. John Sam Campana
In 1965 I had the (rare) chance to visit Dean Martins Bel air house by the invite of his wife Jeanne & play drums with his late son Dino (R.I.P) Martin on bass & guitarist Billy Henche. We played 'Turn,Turn,Turn' by 'The Byrds' and a couple of more songs. I'd like to thank my late mother for bringing that day together for me.
my Dad loved watching his show on TV, i would watch his face light up when Dean would do his thing on his show and it just made my Dad forget about his trouble for the hour or so, while he watch this show...
Yes, my father had it rough, he worked long hours as an iron worker & was a hard worker who never complained. He was a loving father who never hit us, taught us how to work hard & be good christians & good Americans but all that work stressed him out. This show allowed my dad to escape his troubles for an hour. He once told me that for that one hour, when my mother, my sisters & I joined our dad & watched this show, it was one of the few times in the week where he truly felt like he didn't have a care in the world. I can honestly say that Dino brought our family even closer together.
While we sing the the praises of the great starts and entertainers, we must not forget Greg Garrison THE PRODUCER and DIRECTOR of such great shows and not forgetting LES BROWN and his BAND OF RENOWN.
Lena Horn, what can you say about this beautiful singer. She is a most brilliant entertainer of the first class. Another person in the mold of DEAN, songs which come .from the heart. Both of these artistes will not be reproduced in any way or form by any of the entertainers of today.. IAN JONES, wherever you are please keep rolling these shows forever.........
Wonderful entertainment with wonderful stars. Pity we will never ever see such fun any more. I feel sorry for the young people today. They have missed out on so much and don't even know it.

LENA!!!! What a singer....... She sings as she feels every word aslike DINO... Why o where are the singers of tday who can match this brilliant pair. Keep showing these shows. Can watch them again and again. I AM 84 and regret that I may not have many years to left to watch these shows. Only hope I can meet them when I watch their heavenly shows!!!!!!!!!!!
The Golddiggers (the 4 girls singing & dancing in the beginning) were so gorgeous (& they still are! I saw them at a veterans show!). Look at the difference between American women in the 60s & 70s vs American women now.....its so sad. Nowadays women wanna be men & men are emasculated....there are 14 different genders & 9 different sexualities, everyone is obese, everyone is offended by anything everyone says & the US is devoid of fun, humor & self critique. We are all so connected to each other & frankly I think its way too much. I was born in the mid 60s & I yearn for the days before the 21st century. Totally in his element. The sheer enjoyment he feels while performing might be matched by others but nobody is above him. Lena Horne's singing number is reminiscent of Frank Sinatra to me. They both had a unique way of varying each line by speeding up and slowing down the words which I find very pleasing to my ear. Cheers
Dean always looked like he was having a great time no matter what he was doing. It was a blast to watch as a teenager.
He was always drunk.
I never liked Lena
Lena Horne was very conceited and I didn't think
