I once watched scania or volvo's video about lowering fuel comsuption, they said, in the long run, lowering your cruising speed from 90 to 80 km/h will reduce 10% on fuel consumption, but you only lost 1% of journey time
We had one on demo here in Australia towing 64.5 tonnes, amazing fuel numbers
It's a good exercise to learn alot from,
But i Haven't seen a video by stavros on pre-inspection, would love to watch that tooo
Nice to see u again Stavos, I've missed few of ur vids, thanks again for his good vid, take care....love ya beard!!!!
loving the vids and the beard stavros 👍
In regards to the volvo gear selector, the new generation do give the option to have the selector as buttons on the dash. Not equally as good as a column stick though.
On the dash still takes a hand off the wheel.
I've driven Volvo FMs with both the stick and the buttons on the dash-option. I do prefer the stick in this case because with the buttons you not only has to take your hand of the wheel but also you have to look at the button you're pushing as opposed to the stick were you can change gear by feel. But the buttons do free up space besides the seat. In the end of the day the Scania-style column shifter is the best solution though.
Stav there’s nothing wrong with the gear stick that what makes Volvo different than the other ones
Couldn't agree more
i agree. since iShift is so good that you barely touch that thing it doesn't matter where it is located
just brilliant loved it
@Stavros969...i love your videos and as a truck enthusiast all i can request is just one of your Stavros cap🤗
Kind regards from Croatia
Nice video stavros 👌👌👍
Hi stavros really enjoyed your video and love from UAE 🇦🇪
Been waiting for a go in the new Volvo
The best I have ever achieved was 13.99 miles per gallon on a motorway driver over a distance of 160 miles at 42 tonnes, I am disappointed whenever I am not achieving at least 12 miles per gallon.......... '' foot flat to the floor '' is NOT how an economy drive is done 05:17 these Volvos can achieve so much more than 8.27 miles per gallon, great video though.
I run a new Gen FM500 6x2 with lightweight pusher axle, coupled to a STAS Agristar tipping trailer, can carry just over 29 tonne when grossing 44. We re loaded pretty much all the time
,alot of our work is Urban and rural and the little Swede averages 7.6mpg
Hai friends ! I love sharing your videos. Greetings from Malaysia 🇲🇾
Greetings from Croatia :)
If the pay check had a bonus driving economy, it might inspire some. But one should have the time to have that fokus.
@stavros969 Hey, nice video.
Some feedback for you… Without using the cruise control you were not getting any of the benefits of I-See, Volvos predictive cruise control. Volvo offer a retarder but rarely sell them as it’s a bigger cost than the Volvo Engine Brake and the VEB is so effective there is no need to go with a retarder unless carrying big weights over fairly mountainous routes. Regarding visibility, have a look at how thin Volvo have made the pillars and the mirror frames to increase visibility. And as you said the low height of the side windows. 👀
I also really believe that you can’t do a legitimate fuel test on any truck without putting all competitor trucks on the same route in the same conditions. We are winning a lot of new business down to our fuel performance so happy to help you with your next fuel test to make sure you are giving the truck a fair chance!! 😁
Chat soon, Barry from Irish Commercials.
Hi Barry, the interesting aspect to this competition is that it is not a vehicle challenge, instead its a drivers challenge. Today's HGV,s are equipped with a range of automated driver assisted devices such as predictive and adaptive cruise control.
A very interesting result from the competition was that the most efficient driver used 8 litres per 100 kilometers. This demonstrates that professional drivers are a key component when it comes to fuel economy.
Fantastic truck, well driven by Stavros, who incidentally finished a very credible 3rd. Well done to all and to you Barry & Irish Commercials for providing the artic and trailer.
Nice video sir
It’s a Volvo fh500 I drive. 2019 model,I drive off the controls at all times. Ishift in economy mode always. After 15mph I’m onto the cruise control and exhaust brake at all times after that. I drive it manually when I think it’s over revving or revving too high. I’m constantly and consistently over 10mpg. Best I’ve had out of a Volvo -on a long run central Scotland down to Teesport Middlesbrough I got marginally over 12mpg running with an empty container. Loaded container I was about 11.2mpg. I know someone who’s recorded 14mpg running a Volvo with an empty skeletal trailer from Glasgow to Felixstowe.
Hi Stavros matey 👍 it's mark from the Wirral Merseyside i like the Volvo FH 16 with the bigger top engine in it the 500 Volvo it's good but i don't think it's economical enough as the top engine 790. But other truck drivers may disagree. Anyway Stavros matey with your hair being abit long and the cap and the beard you remind me of chuck Norris 👍👍👍 big thumbs up for the Chuck Norris look alike great UA-cam videos on trucks very much appreciated 👍👍 thanks again from mark from the Wirral Merseyside the only two or three trucks that i like is Scania and Volvo FH 16 and MAN with a V8's 👍👍👍 enjoy watching your UA-cam videos on trucks very much appreciated 👍 thanks Stavros matey 👍👍 thanks from mark 👍👍
You look like Chuck Noris
Indeed 😂
Side note... rockin that beard! 😅
the Scania talk i one of the reason i watch this channel:)
lol at the end.
What's up Stavros....
Nice voloo
Hi✌🏻 from malaysia🇲🇾
In The United States, we have a regular shifter with multiple ranges to change, and one hand on the wheel until you need two hands.
What is the lenght of tractor and trailer together?
Please do a review on Actros 3340 and Axor trucks
3340 is common in Africa, I don't think you can find it in Ireland.
👍👍👍
What truck are you driving now stavros
What a weird competition. You have to be an artillery officer to pass it rather than a truck driver. BTW I'm not a truck driver, but a mechanic, and I think companies that limit the speed and acceleration of their trucks are putting their drivers and other people in harms way. Sometimes in order to save your own and other people's lives you have to go over the legal speed, a good driver who breaks the law is a safer option than an advanced software that doesn't care about reality on the road
Was this a Turbo compound model ?
It has a heat waste recirculation which adds 300 nm more than the normal non turbo compound model.. e.g
The normal FH 13 460 has 2300 nm.. The turbo compound has 2600 nm
@@BoitumeloMabena-jj2kf Yes, I understand that. In the UK market we have two FH13 500, one is turbo compound the other is not. One has 2500nms & the turbo compound model has 2800 nms. Hence my original question.
can you show my how to drive a truck but I am in Kenya in Africa pleas👌
Nech, indonesia
use 12th wen rolling
I LIVE IN KILLCUIN HILLCREST 65 KILLDARE
Very dangerous truck to drive especially with the button on dash gears, they cant even safely pass a tractor or bicycle, they wont drop a gear for you, actually they will change up a gear when you pull out to pass and having to take your eyes off the road to try and find the hold button and so on, they are the most underpowered, frustrating and dangerous lorry ive ever driven bar none.
Wow that's not good mpg 7/8 and I moan at my berlingo diesel only doing a combined 45 mpg.
Its alright for a fully laden truck. Best I got was around 11mpg average with mostly motorway driving. Any rural or urban work and it goes to about 8-9. This was a in a 2014 Actros pulling shipping containers or tautliners.
Very interesting video mr stavros969
