- Featuring @GreyWasteTim ! Time to go into the mind of the wolf! The wolf dreams that the Starks have are amusing, poignant, psychedelic, and of course laden with symbolism and foreshadowing. Tim and I will read and analyze Bran's wolf dreams here in part one, and then I'll cover Arya and Jon's in part two!

Rereading ASOIAF rn with my friend for a book club, taking notes and the immense extra context these streams provide has turned our book club into a conspiracy theory club at our local coffee shop 😂 love the great work David, keep it up!
that's awesome I love it
Man that sounds amazing
Be careful your not having discussion with other people points of view because while being very to almost exactly the same when one has a thought pulled from within its purely of them & gives you that inner discovery of what is.But to add onto the perspective of another sometimes comes to easy so it lacks that chore foundation where ideas are formulated and that experience is everything a book club discussion is for to help draw such inner thoughts and concept from the depth of your mind.I hope this helps you
An iconic stream, an iconic community, an iconic chat.
Thanks for dealing with our shenanigans like professionals. ✨💚✨
i feel both the frustration of not having something work and wanting to fix it immediately, and also the frustration of talking to/with someone and having them not pay attention so i was STRUGGLING this episode 😆😩
I have to say, David might have had his drama with other creators, but him and Tim are a fantastic match. Cheers to Tim. I love his contributions.
random thing I learned in my first year in Japan:
Quaithe IS wearing a weirwood mask.
It is described as a red, wooden lacquer mask.
I happened to see an urushi craftsman at work, from harvesting the tree sap, to layering it on a beautiful piece of wood from a fallen limb from a sacred Tsugi tree.
Quaithe's mask has red laquer. That doesn't just imply weirwood sap. IT IS weirwood sap.
Please look up urushi lacquer craft and you will lose all doubt.
She is a wandering heart tree (at least symbolically)
She wears an actual heart tree face, covered in red weirwood blood.
Good to see you are doing well, David.
A couple realizations:
1. Coldhands is a Stark. Executing deserters is a Stark job: Ned, Arya, Coldhands.
2. Coldhands is the First Ranger. Not just the leader of the Rangers; literally no ranger has come before him. He invented the archetype. We have another parallel to him in Benjen Stark: a First Ranger Stark who disappeared into the Haunted Forest.
I find no issues with your logic ser
Please remember to leave a LIKE and a COMMENT to support our favorite ASOIAF content creators! This is a fascinating stream packed full of symbolism
In Finnegan's Wake (where the name Riverrun comes from), there is a reference to a tilted 'Tullagrove Pole' which is meant to imply the world tree off it's axis. It's a further call back to a work by Cicero on the cosmic spheres. One Finnegan companion work connects some dots: "Tully is the anglicized name for Marcus Tullius Cicero".
Interestingly, Fisher king is also referenced in several places throughout Finnegan's Wake in the context of hanged god's. Odin reference?
there's no question Martin has read it. Have you watched the Livestream called "We Should Start Back"? it's a forwards / backwards reading of the AGOT prologue and it seems to tell the whole story in a way. I hadn't heard about the Tullagrove pole but that makes it a good fit for the Weirwood symbolism. All the fish stuff the Tully's do is related to the green sea / Greenseer metaphor, so it makes sense that they're named after a world tree from Finnegan's Wake. great find
@@DavidLightbringer yes that was a fantastic stream!
Finnegan’s Wake : Great story. All Hail James Joyce. Also- Great song!
Always makes our Sunday guys. Great stream
I've been excited for this stream ever since Dave first floated the idea of it about a year or two ago! And now it's finally here! I imagine the elation I'm feeling right now is a microcosm for what I will feel when we finally get TWOW.
Superbly interesting, as usual. Thanks David and Tim
I haven’t finished watching this stream yet, but I gave it a like and a comment because I know it’s going to be great!
Amazing stream, can’t wait to dissect everything on the rewatch.
Bran describes Shaggydog as, “moving through the trees almost as quietly as another brother he remembered. The one with the white fur and eyes of blood.” This other brother is obviously ghost, but it’s interesting that George uses the same language when talking about the others moving silently through the woods as he does for Ghost moving through the woods. The others are described as ghosts multiple times but I think it’s more likely that George is using this language so we associate Jon and Ghost with the others.
definitely. Jon is like a good Other or something like that
@@DavidLightbringer “an other brother he remembered” 🤯
97k, almost to the silver button! Keep up the great work, Dave! I'm really excited about what you have in the works for the Ironborn series! 👏
I love that George puts so much into describing summer running when Brans inside..
Thanks, boys!
So glad to catch this one live. Great content as always. Thank you chat for making me laugh. Laughter is truly the food for your soul. Can’t wait for prt 2. Love you Dave ❤ props to GWT too
Y'all are so relatable and easy to follow. Like my virtual bff's! Loved it 🖤🤘
I had a great time. Love you guys 💜💜💜
As soon as you said Forbidden Planet the Rocky horror theme popped into my head...and I wasn't expecting it to come up latter in the episode
Watching the replay - "psychedelic mystical woo woo stuff?" Yay David! 🤣🤣
heh heh
My theory is that ghost can’t talk because Bloodraven hodored him. But more realistically not having a voice can be a metaphor for unspoken truths as well as a lack of agency. So his lack of a voice may be connected to the secret of Jon’s parentage. Maybe even referring to the fact that it’s a secret that we may discover but may never become revealed to the characters of the story if Ghost were to never find its voice so to speak.
Catching this on the rewatch. Always ❤
Glad to watch, many thanks for producing
Apologies if this was already mentioned during a Dunk and Egg stream: Grey Waste’s comment about John & Hodor being Bran’s legs pinged that moment where Egg’s father snarks about the realm needing Dunk’s foot-as his descendant, Hodor’s figuratively one of Dunk’s feet (or hands, if you wanna get weirwood-y, since Dunk’d be a root of the family line).
I find when doing psychedelics, is good to be in the mindset of what is it trying to show me, and what is it allowing me to see. 😮
Bran probably saw Jon die, but it’s the secret way to be able to defeat the Others. Body snatch the body snatch, now Jon’s infiltration and undead abilities help him fight the Others.
Thx LML
Love the streams guys! Another series you guys should re read is the blackwater chapters..it would be good with both of you, breaking down the symbolism with the newer theories that have come around since you originally read it..hail lightbringer, hail tim the dynamo!
Skin changing any beast that flies or swims or craws kinda sounds like a powerful skin changer would be able to skin change into a dragon
All the dream moments in the books are really amazing for symbolism, Great stream 💚
We get a lot of foreshadowing in these wolf dreams for the stone kings in the crypts. Some people like to theorise that they will literally get up and move around at the end of the story, what if that is too literal of an interpretation of the foreshadowing? Maybe what we will see is dead Stark greenseers called back from the crypts to aid Bran in some final spiritual battle against the Others in the astral realm?
"... a carrack called the Santa Maria was sailing across the Atlantic Ocean, accompanied by two smaller caravels. On board was the explorer Christopher Columbus. The Aztecs knew no more about those three ships than the enormous Pterodactyl Quetzalcoatlus knew about the asteroid that had once sped steadily toward the Gulf of Mexico. But as a light once again appeared in the sky over Central America, that blazing, blood-red comet, a new threat just as deadly was speeding their way, one that would take them completely by surprise and change their world forever."
"The Aztecs - A Clash of Worlds."
UA-cam, Fall of Civilizations
Hell yea dude
It's not exactly a wolf dream but in GoT, Sansa III, after fighting with Arya about ruining her dress. The Sansa in a fit of anger rips off all her ruined clothes and cries herself to sleep. She then dreams of Lady and they are running together even though Lady is already dead. This is while Robert is out hunting. The very next chapter Littlefinger tells Ned some wolves got to the white hart before Robert's hunting party and there was barely anything left. Most of the party returned but the king went on in search of a boar. So Sansa can warg too. I just think its much harder that she doesn't have Lady to practice.
she definitely can, GRRM has said so, but this is an interesting connection you raise. Makes sense she might drift and dream through the eyes of a nearby wolf
Draught is a variant spelling of draft and is normally pronounced the same way, as [draft] or [drahft] or with a vowel somewhere between [a] and [ah]. A pronunciation [drawt] is sometimes heard for draught, perhaps because -aught is frequently pronounced [-awt] elsewhere, as in caught and taught.
1:40:56 the wolves are also not only trapped by iron like the kings of winter, they are stuck in a hearts wood aka a Garth aka the green sea.
oh jeez I skipped right over that. yes the kings of winter are in the Weirwoodnet, exactly
The only reason this comment appeases the algorithm gods is because this content is the closest thing to kings blood on the platform
THUNDARR FOR THE WIN!!!☄️☄️☄️
Dope livestream as usual thanks guys
6:49 lmao metallica refference
WAAAANNDERRRR WAAAAANNDERRRR
@@DavidLightbringer xDD alright James haha
Epic stream. Thank you.
That section about the kings of winter being trapped by the steel snake **chefs kiss**
they're in the godswood too
I’m obsessed with the concept of the weirwood net and green seers. Thank you for fighting the good fight, scouring GRRMs works for symbolism and providing these streams.
Love a stream with Grey Waste Tim ❤
Boys, keep up the good work, love the content 😊
Yes, Tim is indeed beautiful.
Grats on the channel upgrade!
There is absolutely no need to go into this kind of detail about obscure parts of a book series. I love it
Jon doing the "leg" work for bran would be like a four legged stark.
Old Nan is probably a Child of the Forest in disguise, sent to watch over the Brann boy
I don't see any evidence for that. She's probably the woman in Brans vision kissing Dunk.
@@DavidLightbringer she speaks the old tongue. She knows lots of ancient lore that nobody else in Winterfell seems to know. She's remarked upon on how short she is. She's been around and old for a very long time. She got knocked down the stone stairs at an old age by Theon and bounced back with no serious injuries or disabilities. Her body was never found after the sacking of Winterfell. There's other clues as well, including the CotF admitting they've been infiltrating the realms of men and watching the Brann Starks specifically. Then Old Nan shows up to be a nurse for Brandon Stark and then Brann Stark?
CotF can have kids with humans, as seen with Maggy the Frog being the grandmother of Jeyne Westerling.
Great stream, doods!
Come in and immediately hearing some Heart. Love it!
Under the sea the snow falls up.
i'm really enjoying the LML b2b GWT live streams. you two are working really well together. many thanks to you
The best! 😇🐺 🦇 🖥 💥 💜
Comment for the algorithm! Another great stream .... love the analysis of the dreams! Thank you ❤😊
Actually got to watch some live yesterday! All caught up and waiting for part 2 😁
Well done gents well done
Love the re-reading
Great stream guys, as always. Much appreciation
Has David ever considered checking out westeroscraft? it's a massive recreation of every city in westros in minecraft and it's honestly really fun to just walk around and explore. It'd be really fun to see him try something a Lil different!
Sorry, I couldn’t make the live stream. Catching you on the rewatch!
Comment for the old gods
Squish squish 😊
There was that part about the wolves going to the “dark side of the wood” where a shadow “Bran” called to them. Not sure on the exact quote, but that seems like it could reference the frozen side of the weir wood net.
Sad I wasn’t able to watch this live
Amazing stream, thanks guys!
Hatfield warm-ups are necessary whenever and where ever the wolves roam 😂
There is also a House Fisher in the North that were Kings along the Stoney Shore. So that could be a further connection between the Tullys & Starks.
that's another branch of the same house yes
@@DavidLightbringer so then the Fishers would symbolically be the Kings of The North & The Rivers? And are probably related to moth Starks and Tullys. Gotta love George’s ever connected world.
great stream as always, so many good moments but 49:17 really got me 😂we love that for Hodor💖
Great stream!
Interesting parallel that Bran wakes from the Wolf Dream of Summer falling from the Tree/Tower, and only then does he accept the wisdom/knowledge that he is indeed a Warg (Or, Green Seer, but he's not quite there yet, not until a different tower) ~ further opening his 3rd eye, just like how his initial "fall" started that process.
Bran's voice is a whisper in Summers mind. Just like the greenseer's communicate through the whisperings of the leaves, and whispering in dreams.
The whisperer in the dark. The whispering deadheads under the Whispers.
The Whispering Sound at Old Town.
🐺🐺🐺
Music is sublime especially from the late 60s and early 70s while on paste
It seems like Summer and Shaggydog have an understanding of Summer being the older brother of the two, which i wouldn't expect from shaggydog from seeing how little he respects everone else. I like to think their heirarchy is from Bran and Rikkons personality influencing the wolves the way the wolves can influence the wargs
Ghost is a special wolf. He’s another broken hero. Often the ones that are different have the most magical powers.
Nymeria acts strangely around Ghost, she's almost intimidated by his presence. Can't remember if it's a Jon or a Arya chapter. I just remember they're watching Bran and Joffrey train in the yard.
His TREED friends oh my gosh!!
David, do you know Pebble, the little island in the Bite, off the Vale? You should check out the arms of House Pryor, the noble house there XD
Oh, it's semi-canon sources, I apologise.
naw those are all good so far as I have seen
About Hodor and Bran getting inside his head without his consent, I wonder if we'll ever see Hodor get angry with Bran over this and frighten him to the point Summer will feel the need to protect Bran from him, maybe hurting Hodor in the process. That could also make Bran realise he should not warg people. Then he stops doing it until the hold the door incident where he'd have no choice.
Another bloody fantastic stream engaging, funny, challenging and chefs kiss to the voice work, PRAISE GARTH
Blessings to our lord and lady, 🐈⬛DEAMON & CLEO ❤️💚❤️💚❤️
Jojen's line about "... controlling every beast that flies, crawls, or swims" could be taken as confirmation of not only Farwynd skin changing but also Greyjoy skin changing, i.e. Euron and Theon. The most significant implication of the suggestion that the Farwynds have skin changer magic is that it establishes precedent for Ironborne skin changers. And as the Greyjoys are the only Ironborne house central to the plot, it stands to reason that if we see any Ironborne skin changing it will be Greyjoys doing it. And Euron and Theon are the strongest candidates in my view. Euron is already established as a proficient magic user. And Theon is in the midst of forming a firm connection to the old gods.
you raise a good point. Theon never had an animal to develop a bond with, but he's hearing the weirwood. And Euron as a failed Bloodraven pupil, that's a very old and clearly plausible theory.
👍
Always enjoyable
I was thinking battle above the gods eye. I’m glad I decide to not troll The Lightbringer. 😂😂😂
wew, 6 more weirwood videos and I'll have gotten through them all!
❤❤❤
I think the Orhers are also looking for the Prince that was promised
Ready for part II!
Not wolf dream related but I had to chime in on the Dany endgame stuff. I didn’t enjoy D&D’s take on her at the end and I believe she will be a savior who dies sacrificing herself in some way, but I also think grrm has laid a bit of groundwork for her to do something drastic and out of character. Or at least he wants us to think it’s a real possibility. Could very easily see one of her most important moments in the future taking place in someone else’s pov chapter and George hoping to have readers as unsure of Dany as the pov character. Targaryen madness is a thing but so are Targs having moments of complete shifts in attitude and desires. Always an explanation but seems random to outside observers.
Love the content brother
2:18:00 I do like the idea that Ghost is somehow more powerful magically.
Doesn't one of the children of the forest tell Bran that some children are born with green eyes or red? Being born with colored eyes means you're gifted. Maybe something similar is going on with Ghost?
Wah 3 missed lives. Crap yt didn’t tell me anything-.-
God this is great
Don’t mind me, I’m just commenting for extra engagement
Support your local library ftw, Tim
Bran could be a wolf with raven wings, because he siknshange ravens now. He could be a wolf with bat wings, because his grandmother was a Whent. Jon could be a wolf with dragonwings.
