They sound a bit more different in real life. With the original Mest I can't get a fit deep enough for the bone conduction driver to be audible. As a result it has a slightly recessed midrange. The MKII has a more comfortable fit that allows more contact area between your ear and the shell. Although the Mest MKII is $100-200 more expensive than the original in the used iem market, I think it is well worth the price because of the improve bc driver and accessories.

lot of work with mest because those EST drivers demand a good source and fit otherwise they can cut air like laser, for some genres of music that treble clarity is positive either way warm or not my mest mk2 react strongly for different sources that makes it special just because it can be fine tuned (I like that those EST drivers pick up everything from the background I'm still discovering micro details)

Ive heard both with the same source (have also had the Mk2 for two weeks), the dx320 and they are both sibilant around 6-8k (the Mk2 slightly less so). Your demo is very close to what ive heard so great job!
A reduced upper midrange caused me to crank the volume up to hear the vocals better but then the sibilance was hard to bear. Both sets are for trebleheads imo, not a big fun.

yes they can be aggressive in treble region, I wanted to try those sticky sedna tips but they didnt wanted to go in the canal to seal it properly so final effect was sharp piercing sound, for me best fit are those stock tips that it came with, good seal is just a part of success because now it demands source specific for it, I for now use desktop amp with hi/lo output resistance switch, when its set to HI mest mk2 change sound a lot something like warm tube bass with toned down highs, sometimes I have to turn LO setting because bass is too much and it can get bloomy xD thats still not the best pairing I believe mest need a hybrid amp or tube amp with specific match of tubes

From this demo is a sidegrade. Sometimes MKII is better and sometimes MKI is better. But in the othee demo MKII is better than MKI (OG) by a margin with male vocals.

I have MEST MKII and would love to hear other end game IEMs. Oh, KZ PR2 with good amplification and EQ really comes close for a fraction of price. You should try it! KZ PR2 v1 (with mesh version)

      MEST MKII or u12t?

@@vvmaster2010 Sorry mate, I have not tried U12T. But if you love vocals, I recommend Campfire Andromeda. I got one and I am liking even more than MEST MKII. Tried Moondrop Variations too and did not like it (boring). Now I see that in this hobby you really have to test the IEM. The tastes are so particular... I like KZ PR2 more than Moondrop Variations, lol.

@@ramaidaugirdas thank you! Which andromedas have you tried? I like listening to jazz, rock and classical. I have A&K SP2000 and Acoustune IEMs

@@vvmaster2010 I have Andromeda 2019 (or V1.5). It is a warm and at the same time detailed IEM. Magical! For your library I would take it. I got it second hand. Is better value. But if you could test the IEM, is better, mate.
