PXN sent me their Fight Stick for a quick looksee, so today I'm putting it through the paces on some classic games for the PC and Nintendo Switch. Unboxing, gameplay, a peek inside and thoughts on this joystick that works on Windows, Mac, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PS4 and about everything else with a USB port.

PXN really good joystick for the money, fun for beginners and nice it's allround !
Agree. The smaller form factor is useful for times when I dont want to use one of those monster sticks I keep around.
Most games allow you to use either the d-pad of the joystick for movement, but there are a few games that use them for different functions. The switch allows you to set it to whichever part you want in the latter type of game.
The one thing I don't like about using universal fight sticks on the switch is that the usually go with the Xbox standard for the placement of the ABXY buttons, so if you're playing the Switch the controls are backwards. I ended up rewiring the 8Bitdo stick I have to fix it, since I'm more likely to use it on the switch.
You'll notice that in some games the stick flat out does not work in one mode or the other. That said the Switch really does have the A and B flipped, which is kind of annoying. This controller keeps them in the correct physical place, although that means A is marked B...
For the record that Nintendo quirk is one of my top 5 gaming peeves. I mean really, what the heck.
@@Retr0Rob I'm glad to hear that they took the Nintendo placement into account. It's actually the way I'm used to. lol I think the big thing is that it's designed to be read right to left like the Japanese language. (At least that's how it was explained to me, which makes sense in a way)
@@Retr0Rob I've been using the Nintendo ABXY orientation since the early 90s when the SNES first introduced it. I always thought it was Microsoft that was switched.
it was xbox and dreamcast that switched the A and B to what we know now on the current Xbox and PC controllers, the original layout is how nintendo still do it, and in fact originally even the playstation was meant to be the same with O as OK and X as incorrect or back, but the west bastardised it (Japan kept it like that) but it still popped up in some games like FFVII and MGS
That little camo hori stick is perfect for me. I like that look. It would be great to play metal slug on ps4. Also mame/fba on the pc which is how I play my fighters.

Anyways it looks pretty cool. I believe it should also work with Linux, so you can run the MAME emulator at your Raspberry or some other microcomputer. Neat
I would guess it would. I should plug it into my PICO8 box and try it out.
someone correct me if im wrong, I think the switches you hear pressing on the joystick is for the Dpad function while when you switch it to the other mode, there is a potentiometer just like in modern joysticks.
Do you know if the hori restrictors or any other standard restrictor could be used in this one?

Hi I'm trying this controller playing with Arcade 64 on Windows 11, but it has a strange problem with the red B key, if I turn off the pc and turn the pc back on, this key loses the command and no longer works, it is overwritten by the pink X key, it does it with whatever emulator you use. Why is there this flaw? Are there any Solutions?
Do you think this would be a decent/good option to play fighting games with on the Switch? I'm really unsure on what to buy and since the suggested fight sticks go over 60 euros which is more than what i'm willing to spend i don't really know.
Can you suggest a better option which doesn't go over 60 if there's any?

I have seen this stick under different names for several years. I never bought it as it looked a bit uncomfortable with the limited amount of "base" under the stick.
Do u know of it works on ps classic. That with tru blue fight pack would be wicked

I got this one but the "Up" failed right out of the box. Was too much of a hassle to return so I kept it, thought I would mess around to fix it but checked the wires and they look ok to me. Any suggestion?
Check the joystick switch (it's the bottom one at 09:58) They are pretty standard parts. as I recall they are not soldered, but clipped. If you can, try swapping that contact for the one on top: If the problem "flips"" you know that switch is the issue and can clean or replace it.
Does this switch between a four and Eight way joystick?

how do you get game sound if I'm using my pc monitor using my xbox one when I connect my speaker through the xbox controller there is no sound using my audio jack
I the audio settings of the Xbox there is a spot where you can tell it to output sound through both at the same time. Can't remember the exact spot though. I had this one one of my COD videos and hunted the issue down after that..

I'm guessing you would have to contact the seller... Not sure if there is any difference in the model number.
I want to get it for an android tv box. I don't have a wired controller to pass through it. My tv box came with a wireless controller with a dongle. Do you think it will still work? Cheers.
Not a 100% sure on that one, but as I recall most of those are kind of finicky about what controllers they support.

I would install a sanwa JLF lever, an eight-way restrictor gate, a bat-top and hayabusa buttons into the PXN arcade stick controller.
there is just somthing very satisfying about beating the shit out of an arcade controller, it takes me back to being a kid in the MK1 days. do you think it would hold up to punishment ?

Not 100% sure but I think it is too shallow to change out with most standard buttons.
I can't get this to work on MacOS (M1). Any one managed to make it work?
Sorry I did not see this sooner. You may be able to get this working in Mame or some older games, but for the most part newer Macs basically support official XBOX and PS4 controllers. I hear that Switch controllers may work as well, but I have not really tested those. I have heard that 8Bitdo makes some controllers that work well with Mac as well.

My controller port has somehow changed to number 2 I.e. red light on 2 number is lit. How can I bring it back to number 1

@@Retr0Rob yes I checked everything on internet but could not find anything about this issue. I unplugged the controller for few minutes, it was still the same. Then kept it unplugged for a whole day, it worked, back to number 1. I know what I am saying is wierd but it's TRUE:D

Technically speaking you could since the coin slot is just a switch.

Bought one of these 5 days ago to play Killer Instinct on PC and already the stick is registering incorrect inputs.
If you're looking to buy a stick for fighting games, avoid this one. You can't even replace parts if something fails.
I would return it -- its pretty likely you got a defective one.

I buyed 4 of these and all have problems on direction switches. After a few hours of playing the right direction has failed at all. I thought the quality would be better but this shows that it fail a lot.
