Damn all these kids keep reaching my heart in these fights! Rock Lee fought so well, and so hard that I've got nothing, but respect for him. I've got faith he'll be back as a respectable shinobi one day, and until then I'll be waiting for his come back!

this tournament is very traumatic, blown up arms (shino vs zaku fight), blow to the heart (hinata vs neji fight), broken back (temari vs ten ten fight). reverse lotus - a technique that can kill, if it wasn't Gaara - it would be death most likely. everyone blames this technique for Lee's injuries because it puts the user in a very vulnerable position. it's like a one way ticket - if the enemy survives - then this is a guaranteed death (if we are talking about the battlefield).

You saw naruto and kiba fight , and saw the next fights (i don't wanna spoil it for her) wether it's naruto's or sasuke's after they knew the abilties of other genin's , unlike lee who didn't knew gaara's abilities , and they train for like month .
When lee fought gaara nethier sasuke nor naruto could beat either neji or gaara .
And neji can't defeat gaara because taijetsu againts gaara is useless unless you have high speed or monstrous power like someone we know will appear after few arcs (don't wanna spoil for her) who can break the sand shield and armor with strength .
And neji style the gentle fist can't break that , even if he use it like a knife ( if that will work then it would work with lee kunai in ep 48 )
And neji stronger than naruto and sasuke at this point even if sasuke hadn't the curse mark and wasn't afraid to be consumed by it ( in case you said because he couldn't use the sharingan)
Even kakashi himself said in hinata fight that sasuke can't defeat neji (even when neji didn't use his full power) even kankru said we didn't saw his full extent of his power even when he didn't know neji because it was obivious
And later in few episodes it will become crystal clear .
So this is not a matter of opinons it's facts actually (i don't know maybe you didn't watch the full show or forgots something)
Maybe if you said that neji can beat lee it will be a matter of opinons even when i don't agree
The five gates is too much for neji to handle espacialy at this point when he didn't know about it .

What a sad ending to an amazing fight. As much as we wanted Lee to win. He never stood a chance. Which is what life is. There are success and there are heartbreaks. Great reaction/commentary
I've never watched Naruto Subbed before, i was a toonami kid, but wow I prefer Naruto's tone so much more than the dub. the dub he's more angry sounding when they take Lee away. here there is so much pain in his voice.

I think why they are mentioning the gates is that had he had not used the gates to that extent, with his speed he could have easily evaded th sand coffin. So it was an all or nothing and in the end he got nothing. Harsh but true
There was only one way for garaa to lose but I think saying it is a spoiler
Lee would have beat anyone else there taijutsu is a bad matchup against garaa
In fact, defeating Gaara is possible if you know how. Any opponent can be defeated if you know his weaknesses. Taijutsu is a good option even against Gaara, just needs more information and more strategy

if Gaara passes out, it will be catastrophic. *spoiler* there are actually a lot of options, for example, just talk to him about important topics. Gaara is a good boy.
Naruto and Neji wash. Sasuke arguably wins because he's more likely to kill in pursuit of his goal.

Gaara and Neji are the only two that could have had even remotely a chance against Lee at this point because of their great defenses, Lee just got very unlucky in getting paired up against Gaara

Enjoy it cuz shippuden isn’t gonna make u as sad as Naruto did. I just finished it last week and I’m on episode 100 of shippuden. I cried throughout Naruto tho
