    I really appreciate the people like you ma'am patti and many others that even you are in a frosty country yet you continue planting for the whole community not to starve by providing food in the farmers market for them to avail, chemically free.

    Hali always comes up with some awesome things! Pickle in a jug! Who would have thought. 22 degrees is freaking cold!! The color change is so amazing! Calf's are so cute. Peppers are kicking chicken!! Greenhouse #5 is just freaking mind blowing! Blown away that little header head is enough to warm that greenhouse. Rut-Ro.. Wayne is building him a man cave! LMBO.. That lettuce house has always been a butt kicker!! Stay safe and warm my friends! Hope you folks have a great rest of the week / weekend!

    I think your videos are great! You said -5C is cold but average temp in North Bay is a lot lower than that, like -20C and colder. How do you keep your greenhouses warm and how are they insulated? I'm in central Alberta with similar temps.

    This is my favorite time of year on the farm, when the endless busy work of tomatoes is done, and you can count the remaining peppers left to go. wayne is always in the middle of touching something haha

    -5C in late September!? Now that is cold! My first frost at 51N here in southern England was December 8th this winter. The lowest it has gone down to so far is -2C. Right now it is 9C/48F at 11pm, as I place my seed orders online for this coming growing season.

    Sorry for the inconvenience, can you tell me if you've ever tried to grow cucumbers in hydropinics? Bucket? Barrel? Or can cucumbers be grown only in the ground? Can you make a video with which crops can be grown only hydropinically or only soil?

    Hii .. we are also thinking about growing tomatoes in hydroponics. We are thinking about using pvc pipes of 6 inches dia. But we are not sure if the system will be viable or the roots of the tomato plants will block the pipes.. Can you give us some suggestions on that? Also, how much kg's of yield you are getting on an average from one plant? The information will be really helpful. Thank you 😄

    I think I just figured out where you are located! Lol! When I watched a previous video you had mentioned that you were in northern Ontario(I think you are really still in southern Ontario, but not to be confused with the Niagara region I’m sure that’s why you refer to your location as Northern. Of course as a person who grew up in Orillia I think of myself as being from Southern Ontario and I consider places like Sudbury & Thunder Bay as being Northern Ontario. Lol! Anyway when I saw the highway that was close to your property it sure looked like Highway 11? I’m sure I’ve passed your farm a hundred times and never realized it. So is my guess correct? Finally I get to watch a UA-cam video that is somewhere close to home doing hydroponics!! I’m so used to watching them in Florida and other warm climate countries. Anyway I think what you are doing is fantastic!! Congratulations on all your success. I’m sure you went through a lot of trial and error time get to where you are today. One question I do have is, why not grow your cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes hydroponically without the substrate? I’ve seen many videos of those plants in particular that do extremely well just growing in water and suspended up through the strings in a similar way to what you have. Florida Disney was where I first saw it back in 2001 and I was blown away by how close they were able to grow the plants mere cms apart. And the number of plants was mind boggling in such incredible small square footages. They grew hydroponically enough fresh produce for all the parks in that one small space. Now I’m sure the fertilizers needs for tomatoes will be different from what cucumbers or peppers require, but based on what I’ve seen with your lettuce it’s something you could definitely conquer and then you could grow these plants year round within a heated green house without the worry of frost? Also I don’t know how much you are paying for that substrate and those blocks but as far as I’m aware they are totally unnecessary?? I’m just curious I hope you don’t mind the questions.

    Hello thank you for all the info. I do have a couple questions. Do your greenhouses run east west or north south? And Do you have to worry about carbon monoxide with the mister heater? Keep the amazing videos coming. I have learned so much more from you than from all the books I have read!

    • @Growwiththelaplantes
      @Growwiththelaplantes  4 роки тому +2

      Hello!
      We have 4 greenhouses running east west, and 4 running North South. The ones running East west do much better as they don't become as shaded.
      We don't worry about carbon monoxide with the Mr. heat, as we only turn it on at night, and there is enough ventilation in there because its not sealed up at this time. The roll ups, are loosely rolled down. However, we would not work inside with the heater going just to be on the safe side. It is placed at the front door as you walk in, so we open the door, shut it off, and go do something else for a bit. We only run it when we feel it's absolutely necessary.
      Thanks for watching!

      We run the inflator fans all year round. even though the winter when the greenhouse isn't in use. It keeps the snow load off and in the summer it helps keep it cooler.

    Does having the double poly layer make the greenhouse too hot in the summer?

    • @Growwiththelaplantes
      @Growwiththelaplantes  4 роки тому +2

      Not at all! the space between the layers act as insulation, therefore it keeps it cooler than having only 1 layer of poly.

    Where about in Canada are you located?
    I feel like we have the same zone for planting😉as I'm within a slate-rock-skip of a stone away from the 🇨🇦 border.
    If I just throw that rock, I'm gonna hit border patrol in the forehead, that's how close I am. (10-15min away- from the border and about an hr from Montreal)
    I LOOOVE your setup, def already have some money stashed away for next yr, as things obviously didn't go how ANYONE planned this yr, so next yr is my first MAJOR yr planting more than a few of each. I'm hoping it's a big success.
    I know it's been pretty damn nipply the last week in my area as well, I've had to bring everything BUT my Kale + Collards inside into the grow tent. My son accidently threw food scraps in the wrong hay pile and it rotted most and had some bad stuff in it so😔I had unusable hay.
    Still looking for a bit and may check my local "Maple" source as I KNOW he has a TON of fields. Seeing how they own like 3/4 of Clinton County's Maple Trees, I shouldn't have any trouble- hopefully he hasn't sold it all yet. (These guys use a different method to extract THEIR Maple syrup🍁... I can't tell ya or I'd have to... You know. Lol)
    Take care❤️and keep on growin'!
    In love, light + peace, Aly
