5 axis port milling on a Mori Seiki NTX2000--Programmed in Esprit

  • Programming and machining of a 3 layer die for the plastics industry. Out of a round stock piece of 4140 HT 16" diameter. Complicated program and complicated part, but we got it done. This was me trying out the 5 axis port milling function in Esprit with a ball endmill it worked better with a lollipop mill. On to the next part at Zala Machine in New Jersey.

    If I may ask, what setting did you use for G332 ? And what tolerance settings in your CAM? Did you get good surface finish ? No vibrations when axis turn direction?

      No vibration. These type of parts I get very nice finishes with surface milling. Very smooth.

      I wish I had more of these. Difficult the first time but easy and satisfying the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc....

    ESPRIT has port milling operation? I've only just gotten past the b axis can wizard tuts
