The oil filter was stuck on my ‘23 , also. Went through every wrench I own before resorting to the screwdriver method. You are 100% correct that the OEM filter cans are paper thin. The first 4 or 5 holes simply peeled back like a pop top when I torqued the screwdriver shaft. I finally got the filter to turn when there was enough crunched metal bunched up together to give some support. I got away with it, but I don’t recommend it!!! 1/4 turn of the wrench after a good hand tighten -plus a lubricated O ring- has always worked for me.
My wife and I used those tiles in our enclosed back porch to keep our dogs from slipping, making as much noise with their nails, and just a better look than the concrete.
Cruz man, I think you made an excellent decision in being responsible about the way you handled the oil filter. You looked at your overall responsibility rather than the experience level of everyone that commented negatively. I used to be a Snap On dealer for 28 years. Two things-Congratulations on your decision to make some statements that cross into the craziness of what has happened to us as a society. I would add we've lost "common sense" in addition to dumb and uglier. We had to sit in the hallway, backs against the wall, head between your knees, with hands clasped over the back of your head. I still see the idiots in their cars driving be theirselves with a dang mask on, or a plastic face shield. What a trife! Common sense is a curse in dealing with those who have none! Overweight society, to much all you can eat/drink feeding troughs. No outdoor activities for kids, with to many video games, no exercise, way to much laziness!! Being 6' 5.5 with a 36" inseam, wish Honda offered the previous generation Goldwing. Test rode the 2018 Wing back in 2018, but too small. Riding the 2017 Wing. Good rant too!

A company called K&P makes an oil filter that you can twist off with a wrench, it cost about $100+. And the oil filter has fens for cooling. I have one for my Road King and transfer it to each heavy bike i purchased in the touring models on HD.
I appreciate your rant. My guess is we are more or less of the same generation, probably I'm a bit older. I believe it is mainly the western world (I'm from Europe) that is getting dumber and uglier. The generation in power has accepted common or even ugly as the norm. Western society no longer sets itself proper goals. Look at advertising, ugly is preferred. I remember the cigarette advertisement movies from the 70s. I never smoked but even I wanted to be like the folks in those ads! You are so correct!

Question: Please tell me if there's a way to switch back to my navigation map screen when I receive or make a phone call while using my bikes navigation system. I have to end my phone call for the navigation map screen to show back up, or I only see the phone call screen. This is annoying. Thanks.
No, when using the phone the whole screen is taken up with the useless phone info and you can't see the map with the navi...you can however talk on the phone and see the map when using Android Auto
@frankward8003 Thanks for answering. I presumed that Honda either didn't think that one thru OR uses it as a safety feature so that when on the phone, the rider is not multi-tasking with both the phone call AND the bikes navigation. I will use Android Auto when using navigation, so I won't have to end my phone calls going forward! Thanks again👍
@larrygreen4122 Honda did quite a few stupid things when they programmed the navi...like the elapse time feature..why does it reset everytime you shut off the bike..it should only reset when you reset it and as it is, its a useless feature for any road trip. Then we have the phone, instead of the phone info taking up a small block at the side of the navi so you can see the map...the whole screen is taken up with the phone and you can't see the map...which means if you are being routed to somewhere, you lose all your route directions and map if you are using the phone...and why can't you access your phone book on your phone while moving...but with my iPod, I can access a 1000 songs while the bike is moving....just doesnt make sense why Honda did what they did. I was hoping for firmware upgrades to correct these flaws but Honda doesn't seem to care about making the electronics with this bike work better.

What is the cost of a oil change at DFW ? and how much did they charge you to take off the oil filter ? I am glad they could help you out in the 2 hour window here in Michigan it would be three weeks .
Stupider? After what they are teaching them on campuses - no doubt. Young people not only don't know anything about history, but they also don't know where north or south is. Forget about the ability to think for themselves instead of being told how to think. I always was critical about auto (or DTC) transmission, but after riding the Wing I do like it more in auto than manual. And yes, auto in combination with the manual will shift quicker.

I too just returned from a Norwegian cruise to Alaska and could not have been more disappointed. Unfortunately, the cruise lines have gone the way of airlines and just pack more people into smaller real estate. Sadly this will be our last cruise AND by the way all four of us got COVID.
A friend of mine says he drives with a hoodie up and a mask when he drives to try to get out of tickets by red light cameras saying it wasn't him driving... lol. Dumber? I have noticed the same thing about the mask, I was thinking they may be taking some type of prescribed medicine and from that they have an immune deficiency?? One small improvement: It would be nice if Honda upgraded to a digital speedometer.

He asks the college kids simple questions like how many minutes in a quarter hour? Or what is 3x3x3? Or name 3 countries other than the US? How many dimes in a dollar? My first oil filter change was a son of a gun! (2023 Tour 6 spd manual.) Yes it was tight! I got lucky with my cheap filter wrench and I was good to go. No problems forevermore. Yes! people are getting dumber and uglier! Thank you.

Cruiseman, I agree with your rant. I still walk on the traffic side of the road when with my wife...yes she is a woman..I know the difference. I do this to protect her if a car kicks up something or splashes up as the go by. Chivalry is not dead.
People use to get stupider by the year. Now it's by the milsec. And that other forum is a prime example from the admins to many of the users. The morons on that other forum hammered you over the oil filter. I'm banned so I couldn't respond. Mine was stuck when the first oil change was done at my dealer free of charge to include a Honda filter and Syn. oil. They used the same oil filter socket the Dallas dealer used on yours.

I was very surprised to discover you sprung for a 2024 Gold Wing when the 2025's are just around the corner. While the 2024s represented only minor changes from previous years, the 2025s seemed to represent some significant upgrades and changes. While most of the articles and other information available is based on supposition and some leaked marketing information from Honda, what are your thoughts?

I got my letter early in the week to let me know that fuel pump kits were now available here in Canada. I called my dealership the very next day and had the inspection done three days later. Thank you, Great Lakes Honda. As it turned out, a quick inspection confirmed that my fuel pump was not one of the affected ones. 2021 Tour DCT.

Oh good grief, all the whining abut your oil filter removal. You explained in your original video why you took it to the dealer, all good reasons. We sit at the outdoor balcony at a restaurant in the Cayman Islands. The cruise ship people are wearing clothes that belong in a Bedroom or beach but not in the shopping district. People just have no respect for themselves or others.

I use a KN-204-1 oil filter. It has a nut on the end of it.

People are getting dumber. Look at the safety equipment on autos now. I’m a firm believer that safety equipment is making drivers feel the car will save them. Look at how people drive nowadays.

I have noticed the same thing about the mask, I was thinking they may be taking some type of prescribed medicine and from that they have an immune deficiency??

Second comment about your rant… On UA-cam there’s a guy that goes to college campuses (sorry I don’t have his channel name). He asks the college kids simple questions like how many minutes in a quarter hour? Or what is 3x3x3? Or name 3 countries other than the US? How many dimes in a dollar? They can’t answer those basic question! They’re supposed to be college students!

Hey cruise man excellent rant i agree with every thing you said , we are glued to our phones i see the women and kids you talk about at the shopping malls here in oz . i think back to when i was dating my wife and girls then would go out f there way to make themselves attractive to guys now its like take or leave it not all but a large majority . The kids are soft have no respect for anyone at all , i was trained by vietnam vets when i served and they were hard arses no mucking about you did what you were told or watch out but it made us tougher and respectfull every night on the news we see 14 15 13 year olds breaking into homes ,stealing cars ,assaulting people for there phone or money im 65 and i am sick of it in my day you did that and your arse wouldnt touch the ground for a month time to ake our countries and cities back from these kids .
My first oil filter change was a son of a gun! (2023 Tour 6 spd manual.) Yes it was tight! I got lucky with my cheap filter wrench and I was good to go. No problems forevermore. Yes! people are getting dumber and uglier! Thank you.

Cruiseman, I agree with your rant. I still walk on the traffic side of the road when with my wife...yes she is a woman..I know the difference. I do this to protect her if a car kicks up something or splashes up as the go by. Chivalry is not dead.
DFW Honda is great. Bought my 2021 Goldwing there and all service done there. They always work me in even on drop in’s.

The morons on that other forum hammered you over the oil filter. I'm banned so I couldn't respond. Mine was stuck when the first oil change was done at my dealer free of charge to include a Honda filter and Syn. oil. They used the same oil filter socket the Dallas dealer used on yours.
Dumber? No doubt. I mean, just 20 years ago, no one would vote for a 34 time convicted felon, but hey, here we are. We still have to live together, but you are right, we get the government we decerve.

Loved it! Great rant! I enjoy shifting, so probably won't want a DCT for a while.. I'm still enjoying the 2002 GL 1800 I bought a couple of years ago after being a long time Yamaha Venture Royale rider. What an incredible ride. I do like a rendezvous Idea though. It'd be quite the ride from Massachusetts though.. 🙂

Wow, I just managed to get caught up on your channel after being away from UA-cam for a while. I was very surprised to discover you sprung for a 2024 Gold Wing when the 2025's are just around the corner. While the 2024s represented only minor changes from previous years, the 2025s seemed to represent some significant upgrades and changes. While most of the articles and other information available is based on supposition and some leaked marketing information from Honda, what are your thoughts?

I got my letter early in the week to let me know that fuel pump kits were now available here in Canada. I called my dealership the very next day and had the inspection done three days later. Thank you, Great Lakes Honda. As it turned out, a quick inspection confirmed that my fuel pump was not one of the affected ones. 2021 Tour DCT.

Oh good grief, all the whining abut your oil filter removal. You explained in your original video why you took it to the dealer, all good reasons. Some people just look for a reason to pounce on the 'hate factor', and why??? Can it be politics, inflation, somebody just got back from Walmart? Or is it these people are just miserable for no good reason? Oh well, onward.

We sit at the outdoor balcony at a restaurant in the Cayman Islands. The cruise ship people are wearing clothes that belong in a Bedroom or beach but not in the shopping district. People just have no respect for themselves or others.
Curious if your 2024 dct has mid year changes-touch screen. Adaptive cruise, lane keeping?
