Driving into Lake Lure After Helene | October 12, 2024

I drove into Lake Lure to see what's really going on. The road to Chimney Rock is completely closed off as the National Guard is carrying out a large-scale operation to rebuild the valley and create a temporary road through. Downstream of the dam, signs of significant flooding are still evident, with water lines over ten feet above the road in some spots.
