  • Here is a film produced by Clay Wiseman in 1994. Clay was skipper of the Truk Aggressor in 1991-1992 and he worked with Gradvin Aisek of Blue Lagoon Dive Shop directly thereafter. The underwater footage was made by Clay during hundreds of solo dives into the shipwrecks of Truk lagoon (deep wreck penetration). The filmmaker does not recommend deep or solo wreck diving and, in particular, solo wreck penetration. For the underwater filmmaker it is sometimes the only way to make haunting footage. Please enjoy The Deep Wrecks of Truk Lagoon by Clay Wiseman

      Thank you. Truk is amazing. Great diving for the history as well as for the natural history. I loved living there and diving on the wrecks every day!

    I know they were the enemy, but when you see the lathe and the leg vise down in the engine room, I picture a machinist mate working down in the bowels of the ship keeping the engine running and repairing what needed mending.

      Most of these men were forced into the situation of WW2. The below-deck machinists and engineers were only trying to stay alive, afloat and eventually return to their families. Thank you for recognizing this.

    You have to wonder who gave the video it's title since this guy Wiseman would definitely would have known how to spell it since he spent so much time there.

      May have been an auto-correction feature or I may have caused a typo. Five-finger typing isn't an efficient way to convey information. I hope the video image presents a clear message. Anyways, it is really called "Chuuk" now... Chuuk Lagoon. Have a nice day.

    You said Japan ship. The one in video was it a us or Japan ship?

    • @claywiseman
      @claywiseman  7 років тому

      Japanese ships, many of them purchased by them from the west before the Sino-Soviet conflict and outfitted as "Maru(s)" or armed merchant vessels.

    I would have thought that as war graves, exploration and filming remains would be forbidden.

    The only true end to a War is when Death has taken enough lives that everyone finally stops fighting and starts burying the dead.

    • @chadmock5883
      @chadmock5883 8 років тому +1

      part true. wars live on in the soldiers that fought in the war. the war dies one soldier at a time. ww2 will soon be over.

    • @johndoe-nf1ty

      I have 5 or 6 of them laying around. Blacksmithing was one of my jobs, so a post vise is a necessity. They came in various sizes!

      Some divers have been allowed inside the USS Arizona but I've never seen any video that shows any of the war dead that are still inside the ship.
