what's even more painful is that after last season, the celtic's front office committed to improving their roster to get over the hump and win the chip, where as we laid back on our ECF laurels and made marginal changes that landed us back into...the play in. good job.
Heat front office got dwarfed. Heat and Celtics were both in the ECF finals. Boston made daring moves. The Heat sat around waiting on Dame and are still trying to figure out if they should wait on Tyler to “make that leap.” They got outclassed.
The one lesson we need to take from the Celtics’ season is kind of the thing we abandoned last offseason by losing Gabe and Max. You need guards that can play defense.
Jrue and Derrick are making everything difficult for opposing teams guards, while simultaneously making things easier for their front court.
To me a successful offseason would be to turn at least 2 of Tyler/Terry/Duncan into something resembling Bruce Brown and Jalen Suggs (doesn’t have to be them specifically, but 2 guards that lean defense but can still score a little).
If we have one leftover they are perfect as a 6th man, and maybe even a closer, but we can’t be rolling out these lineups with two complete zeroes at the point of attack, forcing us to bring our bigger defenders up.
Our offense is awful anyway, and while our defense graded high, it wasn’t particularly disruptive.
I hate it.
How the hell do they lose in the nba Finals and think that it’s okay to run it back with Jrich, Dru Smith and Thomas Bryant?? Pat Riley mentally is still in 1998 but it’s 2024. Tell him to make up with Wade so that he can finally help bring some talent to Miami again
Blazers were so enthralled in trading Lillard anywhere but Miami, they chose to trade for All-Star Jrue Holiday!! The Cronin shenanigans just got started. Blazers immediately swapped Jrue out for 2 oft-injured Celtics (Brogdan, R-Williams). Final results?? Portland finished dead last in Western Conference, including a 60 point beatdown by the Heat. The Blazers had 4 vets quit the season early, because nobody wants to put in extra effort to make Cronin and Billups look like they are terrific NBA managers.
Thats what they wanted fool!!!

Number one reason why the guys are getting injured is the roster construction. Guys gotta overextend themselves to beat lower teams their margin of error is the small3st in the league for any "contending" squad. Time for the team to restructure the roster to get bsck to that contending status; and if that involves not resigning jimmy and trading herro, then so be it

I think it’s deeper than the front office. We spent all of the 22-23 season in clutch time, were absolutely lethal in the 4th quarter in the playoffs. We were dog shit in the 4th this year. How does that happen?
We could not beat any good teams this season. They did not look like a serious team at all. They didn’t look well coached. Our transition offense was a disgrace.
The Celtics very clearly worked harder than we did across the board.
Brad Stevens ran circles around Riley and the rest of the NBA, he did what he had to do to improve their roster and the Heat did nothing. They just ran it back, only adding a rookie in Jáquez and a trade for Rozier that didn’t move the needle at all. Then you had all the injuries that didn’t help matters but bottom line, the Heat front office hasn’t done enough to significantly improve this team.

No no, the league and refs embraced Celtics this year. All season the refs saved the Celtics ass when they were collapsing in the 4th after leading big. Saw it in SAC game reg season and plenty of other games. The no call bull crap was one sided when it came to Boston

They only acknowledged that the heat team this season was bad at the end after they lost, otherwise all season channel was screaming "we have enough" which clearly wasnt the case from preseason. bucks get lillard, celtics get holiday and this channel was praising the signing of RJ hampton lmao
Saltiest recollection of offseason noise with Cronin, they act like heat didnt shortchange him, they obviously did thats why not only do u not get lillard u dont get holiday as well.
Saying the celtics had a good regular season is vastly underscoring how biased he is, and then being critical of the path to championship you can only play who you get.
Fyi Herro is an even worse defender than Doncic, the amount of times he gets blown by even less athletic players than the boston players.
The fact is gotta stop making excuses for the team and be more realistic and less biased.
