The Royal Enfield Classic 350 Climbs Over Holme Moss from Glossop to Holmfirth

- The Royal Enfield Classic 350 catching the last of the autumn sun on a ride back from Glossop over Torside to the Woodhead Pass then up and over Holme Moss with its radio transmitter mast standing 748 feet (228 meters) above the moor and belting out radio signals across the North of England.
Down into Holmfirth, a gem of a Yorkshire town where the iconic TV series Last of The Summer Wine was filmed. “Sids cafe” is in the square as we drive by.
Block out the winter weather and lest have a ride.

Compo , Clegg, and Foggy would have been proud of you, and loved the 350 too! Super video, thank you.
It does feel sometimes like I'm living in one of the episodes, Ride safe, Dave
Ey up
Loving the videos, keep them coming. I’m one of those senior riders, passed my bike test 56 years ago
This is a route we make during the summer months, with a quick call into the Carding Shed for a brew
Merry Christmas Dave and a Happy New Year 🍺🎄

Stunning scenery. Makes me want to get the 650 v stomach out and bumble through Brecon, but, once again it’s munning down
It is here as well, It was dry until I got my riding gear on and went to get the bike out, then heaven opened 🥲
Never been this way to Holmfirth bit of an eye opener for me 😃👍
Hi, it's a good way to go, Just watch the bend right at the top, it can catch you out when it tightens. Ride safe, Dave
Might do that that group of roads once I've ran my 350 in and the weather gets a bit warmer 🤞 . I have been lucky to have many bikes some of them dream bikes 1200 thruxton r and ZZR 1400 to name a couple. I can honestly say my little 350 with it's extremely smooth engine and gearbox is my favourite bike I've owned. Love it. Keep up the good work with your videos, great to watch when I can't get out on mine 😊👍
Hi, it is worth having a ride on these roads, the classic handles them very well and sounds really good. I have more videos planned for this year, ride safe, Dave
Last time i did this road my eldest daughter was 2 ....shes now 40....came over from....last summer wine country 😉👍now im that age😖🤣🤣🤣 must do it on either my himalayan or classic 350.... merry xmas from cumbria 🎅🥃🎊🎈🎉🎁🥂🍻
Hi, I was in Sid's Café the other week having a cuppa. You definitely need to come and ride it again. Let me know if you do and I will ride with you, If we can get another couple of riders we can have a remake of "Last of the Summer Wine". No fighting though as to who pays Compo lol, Merry Christmas and happy New Year to you all from Yorkshire. Ride safe, Dave

Thanks really enjoyed the run, bike sounds great. I live near there and the countryside is amazing all year round. Wakefield is surrounded by great runs out on the bike. Take care👍
Hi Garry, there are some great rides around here. Every change of weather brings new perspective to the views. Ride safe, Dave
autumn gold is perfect in England.
Hi, it is a good time of the year to ride. Winter is with us now but on bright crisp days you still can't beat getting out on the bike. Ride safe, Dave
I've done that route many times before in various cars & now looking forward to riding it on my Yamaha trike, bought last September...merry Christmas all..😊👍
Hi, the trike sounds good, there is a ice cream / coffee van at the top on a weekend. On Sunday afternoon there is usually a group of old Brit bikes there, worth a visit. Have a good Christmas, ride safe, Dave
@@thatblokeonamotorbike I'll try and get up there one day soon...I'm from Rotherham, have you visited Revs n Relics cafe & old bike shop/ museum yet at Maltby off J1 of M18. Yet its brilliant 😊👍 Enjoy your Enfield, have a great Christmas 🎄 😀
@@neilclayton6606 I haven't been there, didnt know about it, thanks for the heads up I will defo be going for a visit. have a great Christmas stay safe
@@thatblokeonamotorbike take care Dave enjoying your vids mate..❤
I enjoyed that ride with you. Stunning views. I also can't stand it when cars start tailgating me whilst I'm out riding.
Hi, thanks for commenting, Tailgaters are the only thing that worries me when riding. Stay safe out there, Dave
@@thatblokeonamotorbike I’m more concerned with drivers who may not see me than I am those behind me who do see me. Although tailgaters might run over me, I feel it’s highly unlikely. If I’m riding slower than traffic seems to what to travel, I give them plenty of room to pass. If no passing areas are around, I’ll find a spot to pull over and let them go. I don’t ride along at a leisurely pace and worry about holding up traffic if I can relieve myself and my followers of the stress.
Very much enjoyed the ride and the love the 350 classic, hopefully my next bike.
Hi thanks for commenting, I don't think you will be disappointed if you do get a Classic 350. The grin factor alone is worth it. Ride safe, Dave
Jolly good. Happy Christmas, Dave. Regards Edward.
Hi Edward, thanks, happy Christmas to you and yours, Stay safe, Dave
Having ridden that road on my Vincent recently I was amazed how well the Enfield coped. Re homed two feral cats to a farm up that cobbled street in Holme a few weeks ago.
Hi Chris, I bet the Vincent sounded amazing. do you go to the tea spot on a weekend at the top with the other brit bikes? The Classic 350 keeps surprising me with how good it is. In the Lakes it went over Hardknott pass with no hesitation at all. Ride safe, Dave
Nice ride, what great scenery you have there, happy new year 😊👍
Hi, it is amazing countryside to ride in, and if you don't like the weather, give it 5 minutes and it will change! Happy New Year, ride safe, Dave
@@thatblokeonamotorbike just subscribed, looking forward to 2023 , I always try and ride safe 😊
Thanks for the great video, its been 40 years when I was last doing that trip. Like your comment about the Ariel, I had an Ariel 650 Huntmaster back in the 60s, that was a great bike.
A classic ride with captivating views on a Classic motorbike. Job done 👍
Hi, thanks for the comment. You summed it up spot on, the bike is Classic by name and Classic by nature. Ride safe, Dave
A route, more or less, we often go BUT the other way round. Up to Holmfirth, Holme Moss from Doncaster/Rotherham and then down to Glossop, Chapel en le Frith, Edale, Bamford, Bradfield, Outibridge and home. Interesting to see it in reverse. 😂
And Merry Christmas. 👍
Hi David, I do the route in both directions quite often. I go over Holme Moss from Leeds then to Glossop when I want to ride the Snake. It is interesting riding a familiar route the other way round it gets a whole new perspective. Ride safe, Dave
Great, enjoyed every minute. Merry Christmas.
Hi, thanks Steve, Happy Christmas, Ride safe, Dave
Very enjoyable ride, as always Dave. Wishing a lovely time at Christmas and roll on Spring.
Hi Dave, nice vid , just to wish you a Happy Xmas, and New Year, we are a little cooler now at 18c, so mesh is retired until spring! Still good riding weather, so out most days, even if only shopping. Cheers DINO.
Hi Dino, really sorry to hear you had to put your mesh jacket away lol.
Happy Christmas and New year to you and yours mate, stay safe Dave
Great vid enjoyed it.
As you say you never get bored of that view having grown up and still live in the area even after 45yrs on a bike still enjoy that run my old RD250 used to hate going up there though dropping in and out the power band lol.
Noe subscribed looking forward to catching more video,s.
Hi, thanks for commenting an for your subscription, It does mean a lot. I was up there a few weeks ago having a coffee at the ice-cream van when a RD350 came up the hill, the smell of Castrol R was so good. Ride safe, Dave
One you prepared earlier for our Winter Delight. Amazing ride in safe hands - SO enjoyable with lots of interesting information too! Perfect Christmas present from you to us. Thank you and have a Great Christmas, Dave . Peter
Thanks Peter, roll on warmer weather, we will have to have a ride together for sure. Have a good christmas, Dave
I love these British back road videos. Also love the RE 350's. All the best to you and yours, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas!
Hi, thanks so much for your comment and best wishes. The backroads are a perfect match for the RE 350 engines bikes. Merry Christmas to you and yours as well. Stay safe, Dave
Beautiful scenery, reminds me of parts of the South Island (NZL) Love seeing the older buildings too. Amazing to be able to watch a post from the other side of the world almost the instant its put up.The 350 seems to just purring.
Hi, the power of the internet used in a good way. I was saying today I cant believe that a fella riding in Yorkshire is watched by people all over the world. It feels like a group of mates having a ride together. Stay safe and Happy Christmas, Dave
Found out recently had a few ancestors from Derbyshire, have to look into the locations and the county as a whole.
Heard its got some great riding, well this route you did looks an absolute cracker!
P.s Had a look at g maps and looks like Glossop right on the border. Think my lot were further south more bham way...have to have a peek next year when get back on the research.
Hi, there are some fantastic roads in Derbyshire. I will be riding lots more of the roads there next year. Happy Christmas and stay safe, Dave
@@thatblokeonamotorbike Cheers Dave (my brothers name). Maurice🧑🎄.
Know my one side spent time in Chesterfield then South Yorks. (Miners).
Have a great xmas! (Just got insurance redone and £150 cheaper. Bikesure xmas present)
That blue van at 15:05
Hi, thanks for your comment.
What is it about the blue van you are meaning?
😂😂 I can’t believe how quiet that junction was.
I know what you mean, I've come out of there loads of times and always had to wait for ages. Ride safe, Dave
Why do people flog along roads like these, they must be concentrating so much on the road ahead that they cant possibly see what is to the left and right of them. Life is short so try and absorb as many sights, sounds and smells as possible on your travels.
Hi Jim, I agree, it's much better taking in all that is going on around you rather than just fixing on a bit of black tarmac. Ride safe, Dave
