Para todos aqueles que comentaram: este filme é sobre uma história italiana e é difícil para os não italianos entenderem. Os acontecimentos políticos mostram um massacre realizado por criminosos locais, que no futuro aderem ao fascismo, que governou a Itália por vinte anos com uma ditadura secular e muito distante do cristianismo, apesar de alguns religiosos aderirem a ele. Este massacre levou à morte de muitos socialistas que exigiam um melhor tratamento no trabalho. Na Itália, a esquerda nunca governou, depois da monarquia e do fascismo de direita, um partido católico de centro, os democratas-cristãos, chegou ao poder, então na década de 1980 havia governos capitalistas seculares, daí nossa visão do socialismo provavelmente é diferente, hoje há poucos apoiadores e poucos detratores, vemos isso como um fato histórico do nosso país. Nos últimos anos alguns jornalistas acusaram o Padre Pio de ter contribuído de alguma forma para este massacre para se opor aos socialistas, mas este filme mostra a verdade, que o Padre Pio não ajudou a matar e que estava apenas atento ao aspecto sagrado e religioso da vida, sem interferir diretamente nos debates políticos. I am a spiritual daughter of St Pio. Please know that profanity is satans language. I know that St Pio would yell at the unrepentant, but he would never use satans curse words for any reason. God has made it clear to me that I am to even get rid of my last word, that I did not think was so bad, s**t. When I stub my toe I am trying to say "souls" instead, so I can truly offer the pain up for the salvation of wayward souls. When I slip and say that word I trace the Sign of the Cross on my lips and ask God to help me, so that every word I speak is for His glory. I do hope that there isn't a lot of profanity in this film. I would like it to be successful, for the glory of God, for others to learn about St Pio, and for your sake. I'd like to be able to recommend it to others. I am praying!

Love Padre Pio. A picture of him is on my wall. I can't say if he would have used language like that. He did have a temper, & often bluntly told people to get out of his confessional
I thank God for that curse word. I will not see this movie. I was truly hopeful and excited, but I've yet to see a miracle, Padre pio reading a soul, or anything to show his holiness in the promos. What I see are multiple F bombs and far more Communist flags than crucifixes. It truly appears that this is a movie made by an atheist socialist using Padre Pio as a prop to push their agenda.

Hi Tricia, Although i don't know how padre pio acted in his life, That is between him and Jesus, What i do know is that he was not pure of heart and mind, No man or woman who walked this earth from adam and eve to the very last had/has or will have a pure mind and/or heart, & the Word of God tells us this clearly in the bible, Jesus Christ God Himself is truly the only one pure of heart and mind that will ever be, Jesus tells us no one is good only God Mark 10:18, and that our hearts are not to be trusted Jeremiah 17:9

Eu também prefiro o antigo. Foi tudo mais fiel à história de Padre Pio, inclusive gravaram nos mesmos locais onde ele viveu; sem contar a maquiagem do ator que ficou muito realista. Esse novo filme só mostra mais um contexto de lutas e revolução, afastando demais daquilo que deveria mostar: a vida de São Pio (não edifica em nada e nem alimenta nossa fé).
O diretor é um italiano budista e esquerdista. Talvez se explique uma história mais centrada na briga política que no próprio Santo, e o palavrão que ele diz durante a confissão.
I did not " DISLIKE" this trailer but, I think they missed an opportunity to make a beautiful movie about a beautiful saint, St. Padre Pio. The trailer reminded me more of Les Miserables than of the struggles that St. Padre Pio actually had to over come. Lastly, I will never believe that St. Padre Pio ever used the F-word.

I saw the movie and it was mostly a political movie. For those who may not be familiar with Padre Pio, it may not make sense but whether the movie is good, bad, or whatever opinion you may have, the truth is God will go to any lengths to save a soul and that’s what He did for Shia Le Boeuf. They should have made him say something like "Leave, you are here only for your self-will! Leave now, the confessional is not to serve what are purely elfish intentions! You're rejecting all openness to the spirit that created your soul and seems you intentionally set yourself against the very spirit of mercy preferring yourself as the standard of truth. Hell for you is already manifesting, it is your self-will which you have set as your idol." Something like that, I think the swear got into the script cause people aren't being commonly taught that when we use such language we are attempting to draw power from the thing we name (even if we don't realize it). Padre Pio however is known for relying God's power (even while kicking people out of the confessional).

Probably not easy to know this and this whole thing is probably a spiritual attack to discourage you and make you withdraw from our Lord or the saints - don't give in bro! There is something wrong with this movie. There are two types of languages: a Holy language and the other is a vulgar language (the Fuck word used by actor ), the fact that Padre Pio had a strong character does not mean that his vocabulary was insulting. Serious mistake because it violates the sanctity that Padre Pio had. This movie only shows events around Father Pio but not really the essence of him and his service to God.
Even for me, I'm feeling a great deal of despair just because of that word. My heart is broken and I don't like feeling this way 😢. I live Padre Pio and what do I tell my daughter's when that scene comes up😢😢.

should have been a series with more emphasis on Padre Pio. Rather than the life of a Saint which is personal struggle it is about collective struggle during a interregnum. Most of my family lived in Italy raised up in small villages near Lucca. I wish now that I talked to these people , friends and family who actually lived through these periods about its history . Now they have all passed.

I, like many others here, was looking very much forward to seeing this movie. Shia's personal journey in making this movie is inspiring! That being said, I am so hurt by that single moment wherein Padre Pio is portrayed using profanity, that I cannot see, nor will I endorse seeing this movie.
I can't blame the actor. It is an emotional scene and sometimes slips like this happen because the actor is drawing from their personal vocabulary. The director, post production, could have overdubbed that one word in this scene, and chose not to. Padre Pio was known for his outbursts, but was never known to curse. And, if he ever did, this truly holy man would NEVER use language like that in the sanctity of the Church!
So sad. I, like many here, and throughout the world who are inspired daily by this amazing man, ask that the director, and those involved reconsider releasing this movie as is. One word does indeed make the difference.

I feel like Shia being the only one speaking with American accent is going to be really distracting because it makes him seem too out of place.
I realize in real life that all these people would have been speaking Italian, so speaking English with an Italian accent is unrealistic from the start anyway, but honestly I don’t care what accent they have (coulda had an all French, German, whatever cast for all I care) as long as they all sound like they are from the same place.
But Shia sticks out like a sore thumb. It calls attention to him as himself, not as Padre Pio.
And he is trying to say his decision was because he was getting oh so lost in inhabiting the role. Strikes me as virtue signaling. He’s an actor. His job is to make the VIEWER get lost in the story.
I hope his motives for conversion are genuine, and I am glad he’s doing better in life, but something about it all makes me feel like something is not sitting right.
I watched Shia's interview with Bishop Barron. He talked about how much he liked the people, and that he had a different perspective on life. But he never really talked about Jesus Christ. I am very skeptical.

I think the swear got into the script cause people aren't being commonly taught that when we use such language we are attempting to draw power from the thing we name (even if we don't realize it). Padre Pio however is known for relying God's power (even while kicking people out of the confessional).
They should have made him say something like "Leave, you are here only for your self-will! Leave now, the confessional is not to serve what are purely elfish intentions! You're rejecting all openness to the spirit that created your soul and seems you intentionally set yourself against the very spirit of mercy preferring yourself as the standard of truth. Hell for you is already manifesting, it is your self-will which you have set as your idol." Something like that maybe.
If you ever read this Shia - May God bless you and love you dear brother, don't let this bother you too much. This probably didn't occur to anyone on set. I think this Film instead to concentrate in the life of Padre Pio show the political problems that Italy suffered in that time. The italian version with Castellito like Padre Pio was amazing!! And show you the real life of Padre Pio. He had a strong temper but not speak with bad words.

It is also disappointing that this so-called extended trailer showed very little of Padre Pio and more of the other characters.
