Ah thank you soo much for this video! I spent like 2 hrs looking up videos how to go from blonde to dark 😭 none were helpful until I found your video!!❤ thank you for explaining and listing the alternatives
I absolutely LOVE these DIY hair videos. I've been using yours and others for many years as tips and I seriously save SO much money doing it myself and it comes out beautifully! Your results are amaziinnnnnnggg girl! 👏🏼❤
Girl I love you so much for this. I have been watching videos like crazy of how to go from blondeing back to the dark side. Your video breaks it down as needed! You’re the best 💜
Thank you soooo much!! This was truly helpful. I’ve been watching a few color fill videos, but your video and explaination made it ALOT more easier to understand. 😮😮 thank you!!❤❤
I just watched your video of you going and getting highlights then watching this one. Lol I’ve already decided to go to the salon and get highlights like you did before because I love it.
Sam!! Of all the videos, I keep coming back to yours. I’ve got about 10 to 15% gray too and I’ve got Redken color gloss and 20 developer. I’m likely one shade away from where I want to be.
Would you ever consider doing short one on one “consult/recommendations” on what to purchase to do ourselves at home? Even with everything I’ve learned through your videos im still nervous lol Ive always gone to professionals to do my hair but as of now im a stay at home mom I just had my second baby and i simply can’t afford to go to the salon as often as i did before
Thank you for this tutorial, I haven't found a video explaining how to use a coppery demi-permanent to help prelightened hair look less flat and greenish grey tinted when going darker. I'm going to use this technique for a dark shadow box under my platinum blonde.
Thank you for this video. So thorough and helpful. I dyed my own hair and it looks so awesome! You helped me understand developer much better than other people have explained. ♥️
It's dark! Loving the advice on sally product. I'm wanting to leave out" my front pcs, so this will be fun ! Lol not going so dark thow.. and still have 9V ( gvp of shades) that has my Hair dark looking and ashy.
Loooove it! It makes your skin look so bright, too! I recently did this too and caNOT get the red tones out of my level 4 dark brown. I’ve been using ash, green…everything! Is there a particular dye that you think tones best? Or even permanent dye that you think is better? I just gotta get this red out and I’m trying not to go black but will do it if I have to! 😂
When did fillers become a thing? I've been coloring for years and now want to go back to light brown. I'm told I need to do a gold filler. Huh? What? How? Thanks for explaining, but I'm still unsure...lol ❤
This is really interesting method I'm tempted to try. I'm naturally a level 7 but ashy, not a lotta warmth so I can't fill with reds/etc in to fix the old 8-month old balayage, which has lightened to a level 8-9 at this point. Is it worth just dying the old balayage darker just to get everything even.
I previously dyed my hair on top of my very bleach blonde hair; without filling it. I have very orangey undertones when it fades out . Im struggling because i want to pretty much start over and do it the correct way. Do you recommend doing a color remover and then adding a filler and then putting the light brown on that?
Thank you so much for this video going to try this today. If I have grey do I still use the 10 volume or should I use the 20 for both demi and permanent? Thanks!!!
Hey Sam! Your color looks beautiful. Thanks for explaining everything so clearly. I recently did the same thing (covering up blonde balayage and going back to dark brown) and I was wondering how you decided to use permanent vs. demi. I asked the hairdresser to not use perm because I heard that it’s so hard to lift the color and go light again down the road. Did you go with permanent because you’re planning on staying dark? Thanks!
Yes, I’m planning on staying this dark for a while. But honestly, whenever you’re this dark, it always has to be a commitment because going light again from here will always be a big process - sticking to demi helps though!
I did what u said put a med brown over my daughters grown out blonde. It’s a green tinge now lol. My question is can that application be a fill and I can put another brown over. Thanks
Hi Sam! I used your video as a guide and it came out great! I do have some red which didn’t take(after the filling). Is there a toner you’d suggest that I could guy(not licensed)?
Does anyone know what the Sally’s equivalent is to the redline professional grade hair gloss?? I’m following her exact color suggestions because my hair looks just like hers lol
I wish I'd seen this before I dyed my hair 😂 I did it using the tips in 1 of your other vids about how to use box dye and it's so much better than when I usually do it, but I do have green/muddiness where my hair was bleached! Do you have any tips on what to do to fix that, if you've already done it incorrectly?
I dyed my hair black in April. I want to go maybe a medium brown, not too light or too dark. Can I do that at home? I have my license to purchase anything now!!
I’m going to a level 3 instead of 4 can I use the same filler products u mentioned from Sally’s? If so the two filler colors u mentioned do u mix them ?
So I have a question for you or any other professionals. I recently had blonde bangs, I tried to just cover with black a couple times before I knew I needed to fill it and now it’s a greenish/brown while the rest of my hair is black. Should I still fill those brownish parts and if so, which color should I use?
Love the color. This sounds crazy, but trust me. To get color off your skin m as ke a paste with cigarette ashes and water. Rub it on the stain and wipe it off. It's crazy but it works!
I know it works, but that requires having cigarettes around, which I do not lol. Rubbing alcohol works pretty well too. But honestly, the staining fades after a day on me anyway!
@@styledbysamvaythe ONLY, ONLY thing that has EVER worked for me is to hang onto some of the color being applied so that it can be used immediately to clean all the accidental splashes off my face or too far on hairline. Try this sometime and let me know how it works. I’ve tried everything made by the companies, Sally’s crap, cigs, and color removes color.
Hey idk if anyone will see this but does anyone know why you should do Demi-permanent filler rather than permanent? I know she said the color molecules are larger for demi, but just wondering if it matters that much if I use permanent dye to fill my hair? I alr bought permanent, that’s why I’m asking lol
Hi Sam! I already have box dye black hair, last I did this was January/February time frame. My hair is still pretty dark but outgrown, for me to achieve this what should I get/do?
If i have naturally dark brown hair, Got a honey blonde balayage, but want to dye my hair back to natural at home with a demi dye (u may want to go back to blonde in the future but idk), do i still need to dye the blonde with the copper colour before? or is that only for permanent colour?
So i tried out the first half of the video on my hair with Sally’s wella charm products. I got a 7RR+5WG and my ends are reddddd. Not bright red but a cool kind of shade. Is that normal? 😅
You're one of those people who look good both with light and dark hair, but I have to admit, you look prettier with dark hair, more "rich" and elegant but at the same time more girly :) By the way, do you know what to do with some crazy baby hairs? I lost probably half of my hair due to diet, but once I started eating again they started to grow back. All of them or even more 😅 Now they are like 7 cm long, and my old hair are ribs level. I have that "Italian" type of hair, frizzy and easily getting volume. The shorter they are the curlier they get even though they are in general straight/wavy. And I look just ridiculous, but I don't want to use straightener, because it could damage my baby hair. People advice using shampoo with silicone, but honestly it doesn't work in my case. What will help?
Can someone please clear my doubt... I now have bleached blonde hair.. and I want my hair to be black again which is my natural hair colour... if I now dye my hair black, will the black dye fade gradually and my hair turn to blonde again?! because I doubt that the black dye won't be permanent and gets faded... what if the black dye fades and i get the blonde colour again?! I don't want my hair to be blonde now...
Your hair has gotten SOOOOOOO LOOOONG!!!! I remember when you were in cosmetology school & your hair was superrrr short! I’m Loving the dark hair

Love the dark color. So cute and ready for fall vibes!
This is so helpful! I just went from being platinum blonde to a level 2-3 and it’s so helpful to learn how to maintain this color at home. Thank you!
Super dark hair looks stunning on you! Light hair looks good on you too, but something about the deep, dark color is just so sophisticated
OMG the dark is beautiful! So rich and classy! Your hair looks so much better. Great job! ❤❤❤❤it makes your skin and eyes pop!❤❤❤❤❤
I LOVE DARK HAIR ON YOU! I recently switched back to my natural dark side and I’m LOVING it!
This video was SUCH a huge help! Great job and fully explaining and detailing the process!
I'll be heading to Sally's this weekend to buy exactly what you have listed here. Going from light blonde back to brown. Thank you for this video!
did you get a gloss w it? i didn’t see her list it below ..
"before" color was so beautiful
Thank you Sam, you are a great teacher. You made sure to explain in details every step of the way and this is what we need.
So informative! I will be doing my daughters hair for the first time! Thanks for the advise can’t wait to do her hair and possibly my own ❤
Thank you soooo much!! This was truly helpful. I’ve been watching a few color fill videos, but your video and explaination made it ALOT more easier to understand. 😮😮 thank you!!❤❤

Coloring my hair today and this is just the video I needed while I do mine. Yay. Love the dark on you. I am a level 4-5. 🖤
I absolutely LOVE this colour on you 😍 you pull it off so well, and your hair looks so dang healthy too!

Gorgeous. Makes your eyes pop
Lovely result. Did you not think one tube would be too little for your hair?

I love black hair! I use the level, one jet black in a Demi color. Only time I use permanent is if I’m going blonde or bright red.
I think you explained it very well and I hope I execute this as well as you did, love the process 👏🏻
YESSSS 🥳🥳🥳🥳 I was waiting for this vlog!! ❤️
I love you. Thank you so much there are very few videos of making hair dark.
You’ve been helping me for yearssss
It looks gorgeous black hair looks better on you than the blonde. I love black hair.
Thank you so much for sharing this video I have learnt from you a lot I appreciate your time ❤️
The way you pull off every color!!!!
Omg love the dark 😮

Looks amazing! I always have backup color just in case I run out in the middle of my application process! Hahaha! ♥ Jenny
Could you do a video about glossing hair please?
The copper red looked even better
I love any color on you! 🤍
It looks so beautiful 😻 🔥 🔥 🔥
I love this color on you! It makes your eyes & septum piercing pop! 😍

This is so freaking helpful!
Please, please, please! A video talking about the hair gloss. I didn't know it exists!!!
Can you do a beginners video on how to dye hair
You always look great, but I LOVE the dark hair :)
Dark hair was made for you 😍😍😍

I just experienced the same thing I needed two tubes when I just had one and the stores where closed.. must be a universal thing 😂
Looks amazing! 🙂
Your color looks so good. What is the main purpose of the gloss?
I previously dyed my hair on top of my very bleach blonde hair; without filling it. I have very orangey undertones when it fades out . Im struggling because i want to pretty much start over and do it the correct way. Do you recommend doing a color remover and then adding a filler and then putting the light brown on that?
Why the use of dark permanent hair color and not Demi permanent instead? I’m curious since I hear different opinions on it? Thank you ❤
Thank you so much for this video going to try this today. If I have grey do I still use the 10 volume or should I use the 20 for both demi and permanent? Thanks!!!
This was super thorough 👌Ty!
Loved the video! Will you please repost the Sally’s substitutes for the products you used? Thank you!
They're in the description :)

@@styledbysamvay That makes sense. Thank you!
Have u seen any imporvement on ur hair after dyeing it dark? Im thinking of going brunette too after a blonde balayage…
Beautiful
Great video 👍❤️
I did what u said put a med brown over my daughters grown out blonde. It’s a green tinge now lol. My question is can that application be a fill and I can put another brown over. Thanks
Oooh good question.
How would you handle grey hairs in your regrowth?
I essentially have the exact same color hair as you, but I have done grey hairs that need covering.
Oooh need her to answer some of these questions.
I did this yesterday and it did turn out dark but there’s like a red glow to it . How do I get rid of that? Thank you in advance !
I have a red hue too! Hopefully she answers 😅
Bella Sam 💕
I love it
Will the demi filler "fade" if its under permanent dye?
Hi verry nice color
Would you have to fill the hair if someone was about a level 7-8 red copper or can you just do the 4/71 with a 10 developer?
Yes if you’re going three or four levels darker. You need to fill your hair.
I want to color my hair brown again but I dyed my hair dark burgundy with bleach and now it's faded what should I do? Please
I wish I'd seen this before I dyed my hair 😂 I did it using the tips in 1 of your other vids about how to use box dye and it's so much better than when I usually do it, but I do have green/muddiness where my hair was bleached! Get a red color deposit shampoo and wash it with that a couple times. That should do the trick :)
@@styledbysamvay thanks so much! ☺️
I dyed my hair black in April. I want to go maybe a medium brown, not too light or too dark. Can I do that at home? I have my license to purchase anything now!!
Is there an alternative gloss at Sally's that you recc??????
I’m going to a level 3 instead of 4 can I use the same filler products u mentioned from Sally’s? If so the two filler colors u mentioned do u mix them ?
What’s a good gloss I can do at home that won’t disturb my current hair color
The gloss I used by redken comes in a clear color or Sally’s has a clear gloss by Ion.
So I have a question for you or any other professionals. I recently had blonde bangs, I tried to just cover with black a couple times before I knew I needed to fill it and now it’s a greenish/brown while the rest of my hair is black. I’m suprised you didn’t wet the top and emulsify it through the ends

Hi, Sam. Do you think the Dyson is worth the money? I’m really debating it. Thank you 🌸
Personally, yes. I love mine!
Would this be the same technique if someone have dimensional blonde?

How hard would it be to go back blonde for next summer?
If I’m going from a level 8 to a burgundy level 4 or 5, should I still fill my hair?
It’ll definitely prevent it from fading as fast, so I would.
@@styledbysamvay would you suggest a copper color or a neutral brown?
So i tried out the first half of the video on my hair with Sally’s wella charm products. I got a 7RR+5WG and my ends are reddddd. Not bright red but a cool kind of shade. Is that normal? 😅
I did this and my hair came out the same!
What did you end up doing?
Why did you use 10 volume developer with the permanent color? I thought you were supposed to always use a 20 or higher with that!

Try wax. Like Cantu wax. They also have specific products for baby hair.
