    This is a great video when you are using a in house desktop or laptop to access the radio but didn't work once I was away from home. Additional settings are required; The solution after a lot of additional research was to find the IP address of my router connection to the internet from my home to the outside world. Also, specific router firewall settings must be changed to allow port traffic through the router. 50001-50003 are the defults. Then "Total Success" Instead of using the IPADDRESS of 10.x.x..... Use the one that connects your router to the outside world. To open the UDP ports to the outside world, google your specific router's method to open the ports. This can be overwhelming and confusing but take it one step at a time; this video contains most of the settings you need; just a little more to move from the 'local' network, to the 'global' network. Great video. Thanks.

    Can this software be used in a non-remote setting to transfer the waterfall and bandscope to a TFT next to the transceiver? Thanks for the upload. *Edit* Apologies, watching further I guess that'd be the 'Setup for a Local PC' option?

    I had hoped that you would show the correct settings used so that you could use your radio "remotely" ie from other than your house

    • @HamRadioDX
      @HamRadioDX  4 роки тому

      The settings are exactly the same. The only thing different is port forwarding the three default ports 50001, 50002 and 50003 to the radio's IP in your router. Because there are many different routers (and because mine is an enterprise router), I couldn't show properly how to do this as it will vary from model to model but the basic methods are as above. Keeping in mind too you will need to know the IP address of the "remote" side or have a Dynamic DNS name. All this is covered in the Icom RS-BA1 manual

    I’m still confused. Do I need a computer running at the house or will the radio do it with just a CAT cable?

    • @HamRadioDX
      @HamRadioDX  Місяць тому

      The radio will do it with the CAT cable.. it has a server builtin. You'll still need a PC to run the software though to control the radio etc

    Thank you for this video. I have a question. After I use the 7300 or the 9700 remote, it is not possible to use the microphone, there is no sound. Any idea?

    • @HamRadioDX
      @HamRadioDX  3 роки тому +1

      When you exit the RS-BA1 software it will default back to a different MIC setting. You can change this in the software. I think it's in the Connect setting, making sure you select MIC when exiting software. It may even be in the bottom right hand corner MIC SEL. In any case, check in the connectors menu of the radio and see what DATA OFF mod is set to. It should be MIC, not USB

    Hi there. I can see that the ‘7300 bands’ are geyed out. I happen to have both rigs; when I connect them both, would the software automagically switch between the two?

    • @HamRadioDX
      @HamRadioDX  3 роки тому +1

      Yes. You can only have one radio connected to one instance of RS-BA1 at one time.
      I’m not sure if you can run two instances at the same time, I’d have to test. But yes when you select the 7300 in the menu it will change automagically :)

  • @mojostew
    @mojostew 4 роки тому +1

    So If I understood this correctly, a 'static' IP address is not needed?
    Great video btw Hayden. Thank you 👍

    • @HamRadioDX
      @HamRadioDX  4 роки тому +1

      A static internet IP address is not needed, however if you had a dynamically changing internet IP then you would need to know what it was changing too, or alternatively run a DNS updater with a DNS hostname provider that will automatically stay updated as the IP changes.
      Internally in a home network the IP rarely changes unless the radio for example was switched off for an extended period of time and the router allocated that IP out again to another device.

    Hi! i have a icom ic-9700 and the rs-ba1 version 2 software. A clean PC with the Remote software. No Firewalls everything is open for testing. From outside no connection. Inside the LAN no connection. Seems that the IC unit don't want to setup a connection. Settings in the icom are alright?? Tried many things but no connection. Any idea? have someone a backup file from a ic-9700 unit with tested settings for remote? thanks

    • @HamRadioDX
      @HamRadioDX  2 роки тому +1

      If you have no connection inside the LAN, I’d be doing a port scan on the 9700 IP for the ports the UDP ports it uses to make sure they are active. If they are then check the client settings. Also maybe check the user and password is correct

    I'm quite disappointed in how this works with the 9700. If you put the radio in SAT mode, nothing works. I have yet to be able to see both VFO's at the same time. Its only use is to create another virtual COM port with the Icom Remote Utility.
