It’s hard to have one favorite G-Shock but I really love this watch. Aside from the awesome design elements, little things like putting military time on the chapter ring rather than making an inner ring and then making it invisible at certain angles - Kawashima thought of everything with this watch!
Love the video man, I been drooling over this for a few weeks now and finally managed to order it today, I also have the AWM-500 same as yours black dial, great watches, G-Shock too addictive! Lol
I have an original 1989 AW-500, it looks pretty much exactly the same except the analog hands are not centered as with this newer version, it also has one less button and buttons do the functions a bitt differently. Same functions on the old one too, even has DT. But I will get this one too :)
I very rarely think negatively about Casio watches, but I'm a bit disappointed they didn't update the module. Especially considering the price, which is twice the price of the G100, which has the exact same functions. Great review, though!
Just noticed that the date in the LCD is presented better at the old 1989 version. It takes up more of the display, while as on the new version date and day is squeezed more to the middle of the LCD.
@@Santor- stopwatch, hour chime etc, hands completely synched to the digital display, power conservation mode (the hands stop moving in the dark and move to their normal position when exposed to light) etc. Watch Long Island's video on it, you will be amazed
Please ignore above rant just can’t get rid of it!Comment : lve been watching your channel for about two and a half years now and lve purchased many a fine Casio after seeing it for the fist time on Watching Casio l don’t even know your name but l owe you big time,my friend-in-casio l fist saw the A700’s the DW-291H,the A168WEM the beautiful all steel MOP A1000’s and the list goes on today l purchased the AW-500E-1E and l can’t believe such a contemporary styled watch is nearly 35 years old as a woman with basically the same wrist size as yours lm very comfotable wearing it it certainly doesn’t look at all like l should be riding a skateboard with a baseball cap on backwards it’s an interesting attractive practical watch that won’t have to be babied to keep it’s good looks(unlike it’s stainless steel counterpart-l can see myself heartbroken at it’s first scratch) so l’ll be passing on that one and it defeats the original purpose of a g shock in the first place my favourite g is the AW-590-1A and l can see it’s DNA there so l’m used to seperate analog and digital modes l actually prefer that and people are becoming very lazy if they think that adjustment is such a big chore!! “WHAT?MY FINGURE ON THE SAME BUTTON FOR 2 ENTIRE MINUTES!!!? I had this watch for a month now. I absolutely love the watch! But I'm quite annoyed with the analogue hands doesn't sync with the digital display time. I wish the hands adjustment allow me to go backward instead of cycling the whole 24 hours just to correct it. Since the analogue hands are independent, you can say the watch has triple time lol!
great detailed review, thanks ! it looks really great ...personally i prefer the All Black version without red buttons and the cleaner stealth dial. unfortunately this release is a bit hard to find like you mentioned. also at around 150, it is a bit difficult to pull the trigger ...considering some of the other great models out there currently (love that Wave Marble series !)
Yeah I held off for a bit but after wearing the steel version I had to pick it up. Definitely don't regret it. I'm currently thinking of getting the blacked out GA2100.

I see you mentioned Tecbuy earlier to another comment below are these ok to use / legit as I've never heard of them before? They have the actual model I want for just under £63.00?! Also do these models have at of the fogging issues on the lens due to temperature changes etc?? I've always differ d with this fogging on previous Casio watches I've had in the past especially when I cycle to work in the morning leaving the house and all the glass steams up? Had my AW500 e1e now for 5 days got it from a great guy off eBay I Absolutley love it! I have noticed though on the white minute hand it can be a bit confusing telling the time with the extended arm at the bottom? I've also done the temperature check too this particular watch is just fine no issues at all!! Happy days pal.
55mm lug to lug.... That's big and looks awkward on a normal size wrist. I had a bag experience with a previous model g8900. Same lug to lug and i bought blindly online and i hardly wear it cause the gap is to big on my wrist and looks weird. Maybe casio is targeting big wrist men when making g shocks. They totally neglect people with medium wrists. Not everybody has giant wrists. I don't know who they are targeting.
I hear you. This one feels different though. I actually enjoy wearing it whereas with other 55mm watches there's no way I could get away with it. I think the circular design helps.
Well, as opposed to a sandwich of differing resin pieces that Casio usually does in their lower end watches. Resin can actually be very nice - the indices on the stainless steel watch are actually resin, even though they look just like steel.
@@WatchingCasio Would you buy a "Resin" car, or a metal one? You just seem overly enthusiastic about "Resin", as if its some sort of upgrade. Its not. Its a downgrade. Just like plastic. And dont get started with "higher grade plastic" or "Luxoplast". Lol
they should have updated the functions and use to the modern g-shocks.. the design is enough of a nod to the past and it's a nice design but no timers and almost all buttons and functions work differently than what people are used to.. that doesn't make sense and no one realy wants that hassle.. it's just too much retro in it to be practical..

I have AW500BB-1E version and it's just beautiful.
The module looks similar to the G-100 (5158). The toughest change is when daylight saving time ends. You get to watch the hand go 11 hours.

What are the highlights of the module? I have a pre-arnie in classic 39mm case, not quite the same.

When I 1st saw this model on Instagram a few weeks ago I was a bit hyped, but: Then I saw the spec sheet. For that kind of money imho buy a 5610.

Nope, no atomic clock or solar. But it does have a 7 year battery. Check out the stainless steel one for those features.

I haven't noticed any fogging at all. But yeah, it's a great watch. Very fun.

It is definitely an odd choice but overall it's really a great watch.
