  • Buying a trailer at an IAAI auction from Saskatchewan.
I had a goal to buy an inexpensive trailer and I was not afraid to invest my time and energy to restore it. At the time of purchase in Saskatchewan, only SGI auctioned insurance property. The choice was very limited, and the site does not work well.
For this reason, I began to look for auctions in other provinces and for users from Saskatchewan on AIAI, the opportunity is open to bid in the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia and Manitoba. At the next auction in Winnipeg, I bought a trailer. The choice fell on Jaco 2008, my winning bet was 5650 CAD. With auction fees, taxes, etc. the total bill was 7100 CAD.
On the same day I paid the bill. For this, time was given until the evening and within 3 days it is necessary to pick up the lot.
Paying the bill was not easy, due to the fact that my account was opened in another bank. Having printed the Bill of Sale, I went to the nearest SGI office and immediately received Plates for one year (about 800 CAD) and had to pay part of the taxes in Saskatchewan again because I paid taxes in Manitoba upon purchase, which is another 380 CAD.
The purchase was to some extent spontaneous, I had no experience with trailers. I needed to urgently install a break controller on my truck and buy a hitch with a stabilizer.
Arriving at the MIC parking lot, I showed the printed documents that they sent me and all that remained was to hang the plate on the trailer and go home.
I did not know what condition the trailer was in, the description said that the left side was damaged and the roof and front left side were hit by hail. I was ready for the worst results. But in the end it turned out to be in good condition, the main problems were the lack of a jack leg, the sunroof window in the shower was taped over and, most importantly, winterizing was not done. It's already minus 10 outside.
Having climbed onto the roof, I realized that everything was not so bad, there was a question with winterizing, by chance I was able to solve it after 2 weeks when there was abnormal warming in Regina at the end of November. I left the trailer for winter storage, let it wait for spring and new upgrades. On the bad news, the gearbox on my truck broke down after driving with a trailer, the service said that there was a strong overheat and the gearbox needs to be replaced. The car has a gearbox temperature sensor, I followed it on the road and there was no overheating. So the previous owner overheated the gearbox and hurried to sell the truck, it’s not very pleasant ((
