    Notification squad! I think I've decided if I do a trailer it'll be as much spray foam as I can handle losing interior space. at least 3", maybe 4" if I can afford it and the trailer is big enough.

    • @bigfamilyexpedition
      @bigfamilyexpedition  3 місяці тому +3

      Awesome, if we would have done a roof raise I would have went with spray foam. I didn't want to lose any more head room. If you do a trailer build hopefully you film it.

      @@bigfamilyexpedition yeah school buses are already short enough so understandable. I'm a tall guy so don't think I could do a skoolie without a roof raise regardless of insulation.

    LOT'S of planning showing through! I like the foam board with spray foam for the small gaps. The expanded spay foam may even help to snug up the foam boards.

      The expanding foam is doing a great job of filling the gaps, and it is holding everything together.

    You're not concerned about the thermal bridging? I mean, I don't know your intent for this project and of course it's your project, so no judgement here, just wondering if you're aware of techniques to break the thermal bridging and outside temp transfer to the interior.

    • @bigfamilyexpedition
      @bigfamilyexpedition  3 місяці тому +1

      That's a good question. We are looking into what we can do to not lose any more room on the inside and at the same time prevent some of the thermal bridging.

      @@bigfamilyexpedition Just about all bus builders are aware of Chuck Cassidy. He's the YT guru bus builder pretty much. This video should help you out with some good suggestions and explanations. I think I was crazy to want to frame with plywood until I seen his video. I hadn't intended on doubling it up, but he makes sense here so I will now be doubling it up. It does turn out to be a hair bit more expensive but there's really nothing but advantages by doing it this way, using " 3/4 plywood strapping". ua-cam.com/video/codc32FDTZA/v-deo.html
