anti-anxiety meds are evil. Nearly ruined my life. Thank God that someone I love: Stevie, has had a sane viewpoint on this and helped me to kick an eight year habit. Out of the darkness..

Stevie was honestly one of the biggest inspirations for me getting off klonopin.
She's right when she said it's a terrible feeling and the withdrawal is awful. 47 days is about right.
Clean and sober since July 15th 2017

@@Itslorena_618 just saw your message. Hang in there! Benzos are no joke. I took six mg of Klonopin everyday for eleven years. I had a good physician who slowly tapered me off. Took about two years to get down to half a milligram a day.
After the last dose, it took 47 days for me to start feeling better.
Be honest with your physician and ask them to slowly taper you down.
      You can do it!

Hate how they refer to benzo dependence as "addiction". There are no cravings or obsessions when you quit, only extreme illness, potential seizures and other serious complications. It's not a moral failing or character flaw, it's a physical dependence caused by a drug prescribed by a doctor. You don't have to abuse benzos to become dependent.

OH WOW!!! I was on Clonazepam for over 10 yrs & I quit taking it cold turkey. Went through terrible withdrawals. After being off Clonazepam 7 yrs & being in a severe accident my Dr put me on a cousin med called Lorazepam it's worse. I'm been away from it for almost a yr & yes it's very difficult. And Stevie & my granddaughter are the ones who have inspired me to do it.
Thank you Stevie for being the amazing lady that you are & from the depth of my soul I thank you for all the yrs of wonderful, magical & beautiful music. You will forever be a true RnR legend!! So rock on ancient queen because they all certainly pale in your shadow....... Much Love 💜🌹😍

47 days is WAY TOO fast to wean or taper off the benzodiazepine Klonopin, especially after being on it for 8 years. She is very fortunate to not have severe permanent damage to her health. Only a systematic taper such as what is outlined in the Ashton Manuel should be done in regards to benzos. Also, the video was wrong.... one should not be on it for more than 2 to 4 weeks, not 9. People can be totally dependent upon it in as little as one week.

Stevie went up to 6 mg of Klonopin per day said so herself. This is extreme.
Klonopin in moderation low dose .5 as needed now and then is helpful as is any other prescription drug. Her singing "I hear the song of a nightbird..." always makes me cry but that story is for another day. I am a big fan.

Doctor gives me 100 10 mlgs a month with 6 refills so I only have to see him twice a year. I don't know if that says more about me or the Doctor who prescribes them.

I’m a retired LEO, and have frequently come in contact with people who were on Klonopin. There are specific body tics that users have, and I got so good at identifying them. It’s a drug that has frightened me as much as meth or crack, but it never got the warnings that those other two did. I respect anyone who is able to get off of it.

I just got off Klonopine and took it for 15 years!! I blame it for ruining so much… even my marriage… I totally relate with everything Stevie says here… it’s the most awful drug ever and it’s almost impossible to get off. I couldn’t afford a fancy rehab so it took me 2.5 years to taper using a water titration method. I did it by myself with a support group and it wasn’t easy. So glad to be off that devil drug.

Stevie is a strong independent woman who when she was young made bad choices like many others in her situation. She is about to be 65 years old and is still going strong. She paid the price for her mistakes like she said being left with no husband and no children. But she has been a tower of strength and hope for those who feel trapped in drug addiction with no way out. That is her mission on this earth.

I took klonipin until very recently, not exactly my choice NOT to take it but my dr I had for 15-20 years died in December, I’ve taken the clonazapam for I suppose like 18+/- years- since my dr passed I cannot find a dr in my area that will give me a Rx for this medicine.
But after everything I’ve watched online- I don’t want this medicine anymore.
Although, this med has never made me feel ...”high” or drunk or anything like that AT ALL. it kept me from having panic attacks and also seizures. But another thing I remember a long time ago when I took a klonipin when I started having an asthma attack, it helped calm me down, helped manage that attack.
If I can get a noncontrolled medication to take to help manage intermittent anxiety than that’s fine with me. I don’t want to take Klonipin again. I cannot believe the things I’ve heard. It just wasn’t like that for me though. Hopefully long term damage hasn’t been done, but ....ya right. Pffff. I’ve taken it for over 15 years, at least 2 doses a day- some days 3x a day.
I’m worried. I’m probably retarded and I just don’t realize it yet. Hmmm.
    No, if this medicine
had made me feel loopy AT ALL, I wouldn’t take it.
I don’t like feeling messed up. I like being in control of myself and I like knowing what’s going on around me.
So kudos to everyone who’s spoken out on this klonipin,I feel like hell right now already going through mild w/d. (I know it’ll get worse too) but I’m going to tough it out. If it kills me that’s fine. I just don’t want to suffer anymore. I’m not afraid of dying. More afraid of living, TBH.
But whatever it ends up being,it won’t be with klonipin.
I don’t want medicine like that.
    Stay well

I was on Klonopin for over 4 years and I ended up crossing over to Valium because their manufacturing plant who makes Klonopins are experiencing Shortages. Everytime I tried to get a refill, the Pharmacist told me to come back in two days, then I got it the refill. This is not the first time that happened, a month later, I called the pharmacy to see if they have Klonopins on stock then they said, no, so they told me to check back two days, then I called again after two days, then they said they don't have it. So after two days, I finally got the final refill and said to myself, "I HAD ENOUGH WITH THEM SAYING, THEY ARE OUT OF KLONOPINS!" So I end up went to my doctor and explained of what happened. Then he suggested me to take Ativan instead, then I asked him for Valium instead, because it lasts longer (up to 200 hours) and I do understand the Ashton's Manual very well. Then at first, he was reculant then finally I got the script. (It took me a month to cross over from Klonopin to Valium, and It's no fun. I was also drinking caffeine for depression. When I was crossing over from Klonopin to Valium, I was taking Klonopin 0.5mg 3x a day (eqv: Valium 10mg 3x a day), I started cutting Klonopin into 3/4 and take 1/2 of Valium to see what i feel, then two days later, I nearly fainted twice, especially, aches in my legs, arms and sometimes upper torsos, my hands was rumbling, I used to run very fast without falling over, but during the crossover, I ran and fell, scrapped my left knee, lower right of my left palm, and back of my index finger. After successfully crossed over to 10mg Valium, the symptoms disappeared, then no problem crossing over at the first dose. But after the doctor's visit to get a refill, he suggested me to take 10mg Valium twice a day because it affects everyone differently. So I managed to taper the Klonopin at the second dose by cutting in half, today is the final day of taking half of Klonopin in the Second dose before I am successfully crossed over to Valium. My main goal is whether if it's a good time to taper or stay until when the time is right (because I go to college and it will take me 4 years to study, so unfortunately, I do not have enough time to taper off from Valium). As of this moment, I am doing well without any problems.

    • @Aquais97
      @Aquais97 6 років тому

As I was cutting the second dose of Klonopin in half, The interdose withdrawals had returned, similar symptoms as I had when I first crossed over to Valium but it's beginning to fade as I cross over week by week.

No one is meant to be taking a drug like klonopin (benzos) for more than two weeks. They are ok to take on occasion once in a blue moon (for flying, a funeral, etc.) but they are not meant to be taken regularly. Any doctor who gives out over two weeks worth of klonopin to a person in a year should have their license taken away. If you are having problems with anxiety you should be on something non-addictive like an srri and be in therapy learning how to cope with your anxiety.

Taking this stuff daily and then trying to get off it with Valium is one of the hardest thing I have ever done. It is horrible. I never post on benzos to whine. It is to warn. No issue saying I have been on at different times of my life Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, and now finishing my taper with Valium. These drugs are simply not met for daily use. Please use my story--the withdrawal is really that bad--if you need them, take them as needed. I am not against benzo use, I am against the daily use so no one else ever has to go though the withdrawal syndrome. So if you need them, please as needed. You do not want this...

Oh using the term addiction with this...how wrong they are. I HATE my own Klonopin taper, I certainly in no way crave it or want it. The media is irresponsible for calling it addiction when most of us took it just as our doctor's prescribed and to have to taper it or have a seizure or god awful w/d for years? I have been addicted to other things...not Klonopin. Not even close. Irresponsible. It is a dependency for most of us--big difference.

When I started on it at a slow taper up around 14 months ago now I'm at 4mg a day. Now I'm scared to death to stop cold turkey. I only needed it as a sleep aid.

My Dr. tried to sell me that addiction vs. dependency thing. It’s bullshit. These meds aren’t supposed to be prescribed long-term. My taper has been excruciating, and can you imagine what they did to Stevie? That was before the Ashton Manual. It sounds like they just threw her in rehab cold-turkey. I’m sure there aren’t words to describe the hell she went through.

1st of all it's not addiction it's dependence.... Most of us that have been tortured on this medication weren't using it for fun... My life was destroyed I'm still suffering 6 years later I still have no life

It’s a life saver for me lasts the longest out of any benzo and slightly less addictive than the rest especially Etizolam
But if you use it everyday for years your in BIG TROUBLE I’ve struggled with opiate addiction for years and withdrawals are utter hell but benzo withdrawal can kill you like alcohol
It’s always the drugs that really work that have the biggest consequences eventually..

Then I met benzos n rode the roller coaster for 35- 40 years ....got off those n got hooked on pain pills for a year or so now I'm riding the suboxine coaster

I like it but I don't take them every day. Valium was brutal for me.
Stevie looked overweight in the video that she said was her last day of using coke, so I don't understand her cocaine makes people thin , it did me . But look at that video she is obviously overweight. Not being mean just wondering. Maybe it's the wrong video??

I wonder what kind of a dose she was on? I have been on it for 26 years. I went off it cold turkey because of an asshole doctor for a year and a half and could not finction. Was put back on. This drug saved my life after I had a severe post partum depression and anxiety mess. My dose haas only been increased once in over26 years. In fact I am allowed to take a 2mg higher dose but I don't. It doesn't make me feel high, just normal. I never took drugs, not cocaine or even pot. I prefer liquor. I heard Stevie took 2 years off. Rented a house in the mountains and weaned herself off of Klonopin. 47 days? Thats Bull!

It could not have been Klonopin. Klonopin has a very long half life. A safe detox can take up to a year or longer going down very, very slowly because it changes your brsin patterns. I read for the Klonopin she rentec a house for 2 years. The 47 days was for the coke and Alcohol.
