I commented on this already. But I will say so again. I live in NYC. I see a Broadway show every week, and this is one of the best I have ever seen. I saw Cabaret in its first preview with Eddie Redmayne on Monday, which was amazing. But I have to say I liked Tommy even more. PLEASE see this if you are in NYC and help make it a hit! I don't want this show to get lost in the huge number of new shows this season.
I went to Tommy on Broadway couple of weeks ago (and I see a LOT of theatre - over two dozen shows so far this year) and this production of Tommy is in my all-time top 5. One of the most spectacular things I’ve ever seen.
I'm on Long Island and I saw the first show back in 1993 at the St. James theater. Not to mention 9 concerts including the Tommy show at Forest hills with my son Tommy on fathers day 2018. Ya I'm a huge fan. Happy you enjoyed this show.
I saw it last week. I still can’t believe how beautiful it was. Great emotions. That musical is a legend for me now. One of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen.
I'll never forget the spiritual experience I had seeing the Who play these songs in 1976 at Madison Square Garden when Keith was still playing. That album will always make people wonder it's meaning. I was so fortunate.
After that short rendition I’m ready to see the whole production !!! Awesome vocals and instrumentals !!! Tommy is one of my all time favorite sets of music for the past 50 years!!!!
Roger Daltrey played Tommy in the movie, and, well, that is who I'll always picture playing the part. But it's good to see and hear Pete speaking, still (The Who played a concert at my high school in Southfield, Michigan in 1968 or '69).
They played in ann arbor 2 shows then to and i hired them with some friends. It was at the fifth demension club. Daltrey looked like he weight like 90 pounds?
I thought it was amazing that the Who would play at a high school. And yet, there it is on the Web: "The night of Nov. 22, 1967, is indelibly etched in the memories of local music fans lucky enough to nab a ticket to The Who’s performance at Southfield High School’s gym."
Being a musician with a son with autism, I understood the importance and beauty of the message in Tommy, about how a computer (at that time, a pinball machine) could be a realization for an autistic boy, and then a path of union for all humanity if we learn how to see, feel and then heal ourselves.
i saw this show in chicago last summer TWICE because of how amazing it is. if you have the chance to see it, you absolutely should. it was the best show i’ve ever seen!!
I didn't idolize or have very many heroes in my youth but The Who was sure 1 of them. Still are. Thk u Pete & Roger! RIP Keith & John! "Long live rock...I need it everyday!"
my local HS did a production of Tommy , my kid played the young Tommy (when my son was 7) He's 18 now and an accomplished Guitarist ...I grew up on the Who....
I did as well....twice! I just saw the new one this past weekend. Itbwas beautifully staged, singers were spot on, but unless ny 73 year-old brain is embellishing my recollection of the original broadway production, this one seems a little slower and a little less edgey, but the finale still moved me. Everyone should still try to see this rock opera masterpiece!
I did too, and I thought it was actually lackluster. The movie was campy, but had an amazing cast and the band was in it. I'm a bit of a purist, and think the original album was the best, and timeless. That being said? This actually looks great and if it lasts a year I would try to see it. It's such a great story, and the music never gets old. Pete? Yeah he is old and raking in the bucks once again. Roger Daltrey does not paint a great picture of the man in his book, and I found his own biography to be boring and self centered. Just my opinions here, so please be nice with comments if you can.
I love this with all of my heart. Tommy has brought immense joy to me and my friends and family for decades. It is the reason I started to play guitar. One of my oldest memories is watching my sister and her friend show my mom the interpretive dance routine they devised for See Me Feel Me. Townshend is such a real genius and we are so blessed to have him.
Saw it on Saturday. One word: Wow. What. An. Incredible. Show. The classic album, music and story from 1969 are drawing crowds and selling out theaters in 2024, and on Broadway! The curtain went up, the Overture kicked off, and I was enthralled. I got teary-eyed, enraptured to see it all unfolding in the magic of theater, the lighting, the settings and the performances from professionals who let you know right away this is the real deal, and these are the big boys and girls playing. And now I see several comments from those who also shed tears of joy. It's good to know I'm not alone!
Gotta give it up for Ali Louis Bourzgui. The Who has been my favorite band for over 20 years, and Tommy got me into them. I’ve seen them 4 times and watched every DVD and video I could find when I was a teenager, always honing in on Tommy. I was skeptical given how associated Roger Daltrey is with the role voice of Tommy in my mind, but the second Ali started singing, I felt myself amazed, as if he was both channeling and honoring Roger’s gruffness and also making it his own. I watched this with my Mom, who got me into them when I was 15, and we were both crying tears of joy by the end and laughing at ourselves. Now we’re talking about going to New York and seeing this! It looks like an amazing production, and it warms my heart to see Pete, who got me into rock music as well as playing the guitar (which I still do every day), still out there doing what he loves and seeming really happy doing it. The Who will never cease to inspire me to live a better, more purposeful, more energized life. So cool that Pete and Ali connected to share Tommy with the world once again.

Thank you for posting this. I just saw this on the Jimmy Fallon show and I was hoping someone would post this I enjoyed watching this tonight so thank you.
I was a teenager when The Who released their first record. I loved them then and saw them on their Quadrophenia tour and a few times after that. Nobody else has ever sounded as amazing as The Who.They will always be our friends.
Nothing less than classic. Brilliant, great, wonderful, dazzling, inventive, awesome, meaningful---classic. Thanks, Pete! Thanks, The Who! Thanks, Jimmy! Thanks to the cast and crew of "Tommy" on Broadway now! THIS is the Broadway show to see this year! Rock on!☮️❤️✌️
Pete is one of the best songwriters of all time, and highly underrated in this regard. The Who’s catalogue is one thing, but listen to his solo repertoire. Phenomenal!
Wonderful show! I was lucky to play the Acid Queen in a community theater production many years ago. I actually met Michael Cerveris after a Broadway performance of "Titanic". He was very gracious and we wrote to each other a couple times over the years. I also was lucky enough to go backstage and Bill Buell(original magistrate) gave myself and friend the tour. We stood on the stage and it is a memory I'll always be thankful for. I also met Anthony Barille(cousin Kevin) and Uncle Earnie. He was smoking outside the stage door. So incredible.
I’m from Colombia and I visited the city last July with my parents, I took them to this musical and it was beautiful. My father has been a huge The Who fan and although they don’t know so much English and it was their first time in the States, it was a beautiful experience. I bet this will be one of my fav memories with them ever. They were super happy, totally worth it.
My first concert seeing the who in 1979 after Moon died, thinking I would never get to see them.. as a 19 year old, See Me Feel Me, to this day is the song that I remember from that concert.. just through the roof Goosebumps
I remember the television station played the music LISTENING TO YOU during midnight movies on weekends when I lived in KC back in '70. I remembered the music one night stoned at a midnight showing, The Kids Are All Right, in Wichita.
All those gorgeous voices (especially the harmonies and soaring vocals,) plus all the excellent musicianship. What an huge thrill for the very lucky audience!
Saw the show 3 times at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago last summer including one of the final performances that Pete showed up at. The audience went nuts. Seeing it again next week in NYC and can't wait!
Having seen The Who perform Tommy at The Fillmore East, and at Woodstock, it’s uplifting see it coming to Broadway for a new generation. Mmmmy gennneration. 👏👏👏👏👏
Wow, I was 8 when Woodstock occurred. I did see Tommy in the movie theater as a teenager and had a great time with my friends. I gotta get tkts for this.
Great performance. Its testament to the songs Pete wrote aged 24, that they still stand up to amazing new reinterpretations year after year. I saw The Who at the Albert Hall in 2000 at the inaugural TCT gig, at the end they got loads of the kids the charity was helping dancing up on the stage, to Listening to You. It was a huge moment and deeply emotional.
I was fortunate enough to see the original production of Tommy on Broadway and describing it as spectacular is an understatement. Thank you Jimmy for the entertaining and informative interview with the legend Pete Townsend. 🎶❤️🎶
I lived in Jersey 20 minutes from The City & Damn It! Now Tommy comes to Broadway?!? PLEASE take this on the road & go to my new home Chicago. The Who is my Number 1 favorite all time favorite band & I think I’m more of a Townsend fan. Freaking genius is an understatement.
After 50 years of concerts I have seen them all except the Beatles! I went to this movie when it was released! As I was stoned it was fantastic! A MASTERPIECE!!!
this movie was released and it changed rock music forever! Such an amazing thing to watch and hear and fall deep into it. I never tire of it! Roger Daltrey was the man!!!
I can beat that if you want to play top trumps…. I saw Dire Straits on the UK collage circuit in 1978 promoting their first album before it was released and the entrance cost was £1 GBP 🇬🇧

Pete Townsend is the original mod, rocker and punk even after all these years. I love how intense his playing is. You can hear, see and feel his passion for the music.
Over the years I’ve seen stage versions of Tommy several times including at the Rainbow Theatre in 1972 with several guests - Steve Winwood, Merry Clayton, Richie Havens, Rod Stewart and Peter Sellers plus London Symphony Orchestra
When I was a kid you *had* to have the English import version of the album. I always felt it one of the more brilliant pieces of music ever written. Still do.
It's been years since I've heard these songs. It brought me back to the first time I put this double album on the turntable. It blew me away then and brought tears to my eyes now. Trying to figure out the chords all those years ago frustrated me. I now know there are so many borrowed chords in the final song that it never really fits into a single key. Cheers Mr. Townshend!! 👍 Chuck

I was a teenager when The Who released their first record. I loved them then and saw them on their Quadrophenia tour and a few times after that. Nobody else has ever sounded as amazing as The Who.They will always be our friends.
They did a good job and how much of a thrill to have Pete there playing along?! Wow!
OMG... Phenomenal performance! Tears in my eyes... this was the 2nd album I ever owned and I played it so much I bought a 2nd copy years later...
Oh ya!!!

Peter Townsend is right up there with the very best. True legend.
Glad you never got old Pete! Hope this show comes to Toronto.
I was hoping the same but had to get nyc tickets just in case! I can't friggin risk missing this.
Rock on!☮️❤️✌️
This guy nailed the lead vocals!
What memories.. I'm amazed that I still remember the lyrics.. Good God, those were the days of my teens..
One of my favorite musicals of all time! So glad it’s been revived!
All those gorgeous voices (especially the harmonies and soaring vocals,) plus all the excellent musicianship. What an huge thrill for the very lucky audience!
Excellent!!! Tommy the who live musical in newyork bravo!!!
Indeed
Nicholas
Saw the show 3 times at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago last summer including one of the final performances that Pete showed up at. The audience went nuts. Seeing it again next week in NYC and can't wait!
THE WHO has brought me from depression. to happiness. In my lifetime . NOW THATS a doctor I found to cure the boy!!!!
Marty
Love this! What a musical. What a story. The talent of Pete!!

What a legend !!!!!
That opening riff always gives me chills. I don’t car how many times I’ve heard.
Brilliant in every way- Just perfect performance- Thank you!
Broody fantastic!!! I love this song .
Great seeing Pete still putting it in 🎶
I was fortunate enough to see the original production of Tommy on Broadway and describing it as spectacular is an understatement. Thank you Jimmy for the entertaining and informative interview with the legend Pete Townsend. 🎶❤️🎶
Brilliant!! There's a lot of good new music today, but nothing like this that has stood the test of time. Would love to see this show.
Fantastic! That young man makes a fabulous Tommy and always an everlasting pleasure to hear Pete Townshend play, sing or speak. ❤

Uhhh...Goodman Theatre 2023
I got chills. Wow!
I love that Tommy is being cherished and respected this way, and I'm glad to see Pete Townsend feeling the love!

Such an Amazing Journey; pure -- and easy.

After 50 years of concerts I have seen them all except the Beatles! I went to this movie when it was released! As I was stoned it was fantastic! A MASTERPIECE!!!
Saw them do some songs (encore) from Tommy before it was released. Back in May 18 1969 at the Fillmore East, great show!
Stephen
this movie was released and it changed rock music forever! Such an amazing thing to watch and hear and fall deep into it. I never tire of it! Roger Daltrey was the man!!!
Saw the show at the Goodman Theater in Chicago. Incredible!
Dave
Goosebumps!
I got to see The Who perform in 1982 when tickets were $18 bucks, this music is timeless.
I can beat that if you want to play top trumps…. I saw Dire Straits on the UK collage circuit in 1978 promoting their first album before it was released and the entrance cost was £1 GBP 🇬🇧
Incredible. What a legend!
Loved you for almost 50 years,Pete!!!! Bless you always!!!!! Xo Mel ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🫂🎸🎸🎸

Saw The Who in 1981 in Philadelphia. The energy in this was just amazing. Can't wait to see the musical live!
Happy for Pete and The Who legacy.
Grateful positive
. Beautiful
I saw the original production. This looks absolutely fantastic. I only wish I could travel now and see it.
The rock opera "Tommy" is an absolute masterpiece. Some of greatest music ever written by a true living legend. Pete Townsend.
....being a The Who fan and seeing the front man take that song on was exceptional, well done!
We saw Tommy on Saturday. It was awesome!
Still has the magic, part of the soundtrack of my life. Great job everyone.
This show is absolutely amazing and the performers are fabulous! See it in person while you can!
The Who forever
When I was a kid you *had* to have the English import version of the album. I always felt it one of the more brilliant pieces of music ever written. Still do.
I went to the show on March 23rd - it was really good, me and my guy thoroughly enjoyed it. This just brings it back to mind. Awesome!! 🤘🏼
Cheers Mr. Townshend!! 👍 Chuck
