  • Version two of the Springray provides a number of changes and improvements to the original design. The shelving EQs have been replaced with a parametric EQ with frequency, Q, and gain controls. The CV inputs for feedback and mix balance have been replaced with inputs to control the filter frequency and gain. Lastly, the feedback and limiter circuits have been redesigned, and the drive quality has been improved.
    Features:
-Parametric EQ with controls for frequency, Q, and gain.
-Feedback path with virtual tube circuitry.
-Redesigned limiter circuit in feedback path to prevent high gain feedback from clipping the output.
-Selector switch to choose between three different connected tanks (one on the front and two on the back).
-Improved drive input with large gain (can overdrive the tank inputs).
-External processors can be inserted into the feedback path via the SEND/RETURN normalled inputs.
-Three different sizes of Accutronic tanks are available.

It sounds beautiful. I sold my Springray when I first saw an upgraded version demo, but it looks like it is finally being produced. I will have to get this if available in October. Your products are fantastic!

Mine is on the way. Can't wait to send the feedback through an inverter.

i like it very much with no inputsignal. only droning and moving the feedback frequency. i feed it into the shakmat aeolus seeds quadraphonic modul. this modul has also a cv output from its own internal modulation that i feed into the cv in of the frequency from the springray. lovely

Yeah it's great for drones with no input! Just a bit of modulation and something in the send/return path can create some really compelling results. Sounds like a fun patch...

when i started to dive into the modular world i also asked my self how i want to listen. because i am mainly used to listen to accustic instruments. therefore i went for simple quadraphonic system and it brings so much fun to a lot of sounds. i got bored of listening in "mono or stereo" 😅
the stringray sounds just fantasitc when its swirling in the field 😍😍😍

@@serdarsaydan Never thought of quadraphonic as simple, but that does sound like fun! I’d love to play around with using Planar to pan things in quad.

@@ScottMFR not that it is simple but the aeolus seeds and mixer modul are really hands on and easy to use. there are some realy nice features and i guess inspired by the buchla 227 e interface modul. the aeolus seeds modul is like "one" channel from the 227e. but hey, this is a very simple and affordable solution to the original 😅😇😅

as MylarMelodies would say... Ace! I love my v1 Springray but (unlike many other folks, apparently!) it won't leave the rack when I add a Springray v2

playing with the frequency gain and feedback really is something you can't get as a VST

Mine too, I think, after listening to this. Very rich, and balanced to my taste. However, I will try all of them.

Cool, sounds great! I recently got a SpringRay v1 on a great close out deal so I'm going to try my hardest to not ponder what I might be missing with v2! ;-)
Hey, I LOVE the opening sounds you were getting between 0:03 and 0:19! Sounded a lot like the opening of the first track on Phil Cirocco's Novachord Restoration Project CD! www.discretesynthesizers.com/nova/mp3/nova1.mp3 What was the patch you used . . if you remember?! ;-)

      Thanks! Love that Novachord growl....
It was pretty simple, just Shapeshifter through Polaris and into Springray2 using the small, medium, and then large tanks. I can't remember the exact settings I had on Shapeshifter, but I was using the Fold output with Fold at about 8 o'clock, Osc1 was set to Flute1, Ratio was at about 3 o'clock, Shape1 at 2 o'clockish, and there was some slight modulation to FM1 and Int.FM.

How important is the surface which the tank is placed on with regards to rumble? I notice yours is placed on the same as your speaker so will that effect the sound in anyway?

Ok thanks. I ordered one earlier. Also, I've just ordered the intellijel small tank from dv247 in the uk. Will that work ok for Springray 2? If I'm not mistaken I read that the units were built around the tanks but just double checking...

You can use the same tanks as for the Springray 1.

Can I mount the tank inside the Intellijel 7U case?

Only the small blue tank can easily fit inside the case.

How about Hammond necklace reverb tanks? They were used in some speaker cabinets. You can find them on Ebay sometimes.

From the Intellijel FAQ: The important thing to consider when selecting a tank is the input and output impedance. Our tanks are rated BB, meaning they have an input impedance between 150 to 190 Ohms, and an output impedance between 2,250 and 2,575 Ohms. Using tanks with different impedance ratings may result in distortion.
