I’d love to use them on my 31 truck that I’m fixing to redo and build it myself. I got screwed over on a “custom frame” 10 years ago when I was 18 and it discouraged me so bad I parked it. Well now I’m self teaching myself to weld and I’m fixing to tackle the 31. Thanks for the info!!
I'm really glad she didn't scream when you put her fish net stockings on ...lol. great . I'm bored setting here in vegas at freemans Marshalling yard. Great video
I'd love to put them on my Garage wall as art ..I don't have a rod or car to do much to but work a lot on bikes . And yup I do watch as much as I can when the programmes come up on the networks ..now I found you on you tube I'll be watching more..and as a how to video that pretty much as simple and straightforward as anyone can get..loads of info there Steve Keep up the fabricating awesome work as always
That's cool you could even start making them to sell to people all over the world... you would probably be surprised on how many orders you could get.. Big Big Fan from Canada!!
"Fra-Gee-Lay... Must be Italian." (Christmas Story anyone?) Going to be in Vegas in a few weeks, hoping to swing by your store/shop. Thanks for your hard work!
Very cool!! What's even cooler, the fact that you're showing everyone, the good tricks of the trade, and then, putting your own spin on them. I always tell my boy, or anyone I'm training or working with that, after you've done a few repairs, or whatever, then you'll find your own way of doing them. The main thing is to get the job done, as fast as possible but, as well as possible!! Learning is living!! Living is learning!!! You impress me, with every video, wanting the young guys, to learn one of the most valuable trades, ever, and you're showing them how well you can live, actually working hard, and being proud of the work you do. Good job, Mr. Darnell.
@@WelderUpVegas , thank you for even noticing, my comment. I couldn't even imagine the amount of comments and questions, you get, every day, all day. I just bought a 1951 Chevrolet Fleetline Deluxe, that had been sitting in a field for the past 25 years, and the FIRST THING my Son said,,,, "we already have the paint job done"!!!! And, of course, I agreed!! A 69 year old "FINISH", with all the parts still there, needs to be appreciated. Truly, the straightest body, I've ever found, on an original piece of history.
Holy Stocking ! Thats what I call creative. Genius idea Steve ! Im going to built them too and weld them between the cab protector and the flatbad. Cheers from Germany !
I am building a rat rod with my two sons. We are starting out with a 1946 Ford pickup . I plan on using the factory I being moving it forward and using some air bages I would love to use the lady leg torsion shocks to hide the airbags I think it would look wicked cool.
Steve you got the best job in the world my friend and best part is your out there just having fun that’s what it’s all about. I’d like to use them ears for my plow frame on my super duty
Been a fan of your show for some time now; but I really dig the "How I do it" videos. Nothing is more inspiring than a builder who is willing to share creative ideas. This is a nifty idea, and it is interesting to watch how you incorporate unique shapes into your projects to give them one-of-a-kind presence... Why is it always the things people notice the least that make all the difference? Peace Brother... Thank you for this, and any more Welderup How To's you care to share with us.
Love the show. Love your shop. I watch your show all the time. You guys do some amazing things to the rat rods. I would use the legs on the rear suspension of my 41 chevy truck that I'm building from scratch. Right hand drive RATROD.. THANKS STEVE.
I would use those lady legs on a custom front bumper of my 12 valve swapped '87 (12inch lifted FWD) suburban that i have owned since '01! Keep the vids coming Steve!
Steve Darnell is a true craftsman, unlike other "monkeys" on tv. Love these videos and the show. Been to the shop and it's a bad ass place. Thanks Steve for showing us your skills.
I really appreciate you taking the time to make this video Steve, it’s good to see the processes that go on to build a vehicle that you wouldn’t see in one of the episodes on tv. One question I have is can u put up the Mack rod episode on your channel?
I have always felt since i started watching Steve that a Half Ass effort in his shop is unacceptable and Steve is able to Smell ( Half Ass ) a mile away 🤙😎💯
I would use these legs for a motorcycle softail swingarm... I would just have to add some chromoly tubing as a reinforcement and done... A perfect part for a chopper... Congratulations Steve Darnell for the videos and awesome work!
Excellent redue of an older made shock concept from the old cars of a hundred years ago. However, what you've done is make it a lot more stylish. I like the looks of it. I'm not looking to get a pair myself, just wanted to make a statement.
Before I retired I was able to get a very old and twisted fiberglass 32 highboy body. Being retired I had more time than money but over the next year built a nice hot rod. The legs would look sexy on my 32, I get looked down on by some builder's at the meets showing up in my old ratty fiberglass 32 just think how I could brag that the legs came from WelderUp.
These would look Bad Ass on my 1927 Model T sedan Rat Rod!! Love the videos you have been putting out here!! Keep it up! Do a in depth video on the Diamond T truck Next- one of my favorites!
Loving the lady legs. Would look cool with spider legs or octapus. You can go mental with this design. I'm inspired. (must incorporate this. Idea in my studio maybe make a boom mic stand) always learning something with welderup! J
Great idea here ,currently deciding what front end set up to go with on my '52 f1 Rat rod ,but if i go with the old straight axle ,i would definetly use them up front for the shocks ,another idea for you would be spider legs ,but no fishnets ,lol !
That’s a slick setup,Steve. Still looking for a solid axle to build a rod. Pulled the 350/tubo400 out of buddy’s truck and we going to use it in a rod. Keep his dad’s (rip) motor running so it will be enjoyed.
Not a bad idea. Looks good for the guys & the ladies hate them. I'd be putting them on a 52 GMC truck for extra stabilization & something just plain cool to look at & Add extra joints at the knee's for a steering stabilizer's. That would be Bad Ass. I'm sure she'll get ovet it... It got you a new subscriber. Cool info. Looking forward for more. Thank you for the video.
Greetings from uk.If I had those legs I would position them in my garden until I could save enough to get a car worthy of them . thanks for uploads and looking forward to next upload.
Really like your video. It is a big help on building my own friction shock. There is one thing i am not sure of, what is the thickness of the metal to use? I am building a T Bucket using a 46 Ford P/U axle and quarter elliptical springs. I plan on using trailer springs cutting one end off. On the axle I'll bolt a 4" sq. x 3/8" plate where the spring use to go and weld tabs onto it for the spring eyes to mount to. The bolt will also be used for the lower shock arm to. (or maybe a pair of legs)
I like the hell out of that and damn you don't need to be an artist to do it when you watch you do it. Course it helps that I can draw a little. Not world class but different cartoon characters and scenery stuff. I'm too old to put in the contest, I just wanted to comment. I would put them on my Harley if I still had her but my kid got off with it cause I didn't get the wind in my face much anymore. I'm 72 and only drive my explorer now. All my kids got off with my toys and now that I don't have a lot other than my strat and a old martin that they don't play so I'm safe for a while. I love your channel and watch it a lot. I liked building diesels, my grandson got my 95 king cab mint 7.3 twin turbo five speed dually with the custom aluminum bed and I split the exhaust to go out the back rather than up the side. I could hear the stereo that way/LOL. Five inch from the front doors back and over the axle and out the sides. I stretched the rail spring bored out the fuel lines into the heads, did the mods under the fuel heater and got rid of the intake heater. It didn't roll coal but you could tell mods had been done and it was long legged. If I still had that I would of put them on the flaps on the back. Thats all right cause I'll haunt them when I tip over.
I'm really enjoying your UA-cam content. I've found I'll get half way through a project and think "Man, I should have been recording that!". Keep it up!
I was wondering what I was going to do for suspension on the Rat Rod my wife and I are going to do!! Thanks for the idea!!! Those legs look sweet also!!
I would love to see a tutorial of how you build the entire front suspension. I've been inspired by watching the Vegas Rat Rod show and I'm starting to build my own rod. But I'm a little lost on the front suspension so I'd appreciate the help with the details. I got a 31 and a 63 axle and I'm not sure which route to go.
Those would be called fishnet stockings Steve. But anyways great video I've been looking for something to do for the front end on my 1936 Diamond T for my '37 International. And if I like how it looks and works I might change the front end of my '27 Chevy that I'm building. I just don't have water jet or plasma table to get them cut out and it's a lot of work to do with a hand plasma cutter. Thanks for the video really enjoyed it. Gave me some new ideas.
Love you man, love the show , build one of those with some original modified widened fenders on it. That was the best part of them cars,, and maybe everybody will copy you again and start putting fenders back on there , they look like a bird with its wings ripped off or like if you rippied the legs off a woman , it's all probably because nobody has any skills on the English wheel anymore?
I have some air struts on mine that I would ditch and completely redo my front suspension to use those. I'm running a jeep grand Cherokee 2wd straight axle on my 39 Chevy pickup. Wish I could post a picture
Hey Steve, I have an 88 s10 blazer with an old school 350, tunnel ram with 2 4bbls through the hood, it's kinda ratty lookin and I been thinking about a straight axle up front to make it a late model gasser, I think I could find a way to make the lady leg shocks work and look cool too, I have all the equipment and a sports store (for hockey pucks) nearby, great idea
This guy in Pismo beach has a shop he cuts out lots of steel stuff like that. I bought a cowboy on a horse from him. I bought it and hung it up with all my other western collection of thing's people look at it and steir at all the stuff. With those legs there is so many possibilities what could be done with them.
i would incorporate them into a lawn chair for the legs and use them for adjustable height and maybe angle of the chair and the friction material could be tightened up for your more girthy people!
Hey Steve, I'm loving these UA-cam videos your doing! I have a '42 K series International that is chopped and channeled, LML duramax with a '36 Fargo grille shell and suicide mount axle, I have original friction shocks for it, but I'm going to make lady legs shocks if I don't win now! BTW I'm in Australia so if you give 'em to me I'll sort the freight!
Something tells me those would look so awesome if the thick line before the fishnets were covered in CZ's all over the line. That throwing up light all over the place only in that one spot with the rest all post-industrial looking. WOW.
This is badass. I had no idea I could do this and not have to have regular shocks. These look way better. I would use them on a jeep rod I'm going to build. Take a jeep slam it down move the axle forward and made it badass
It looks lie they would restrict up and down movement in the front suspension, unless they are bending to compensate. The more horizontal the line connecting the toe and butt of each lady leg is the less resistance to chassis movement there will be, but all movement will be due to flex at the bolts through the ends of the spring , and with massive leverage. This is why most friction shocks have a link with heim ends, connecting the foot end of the lady leg to the front axle, as you had on the completed chassis you started the video with. Someone with their chassis end much higher then the foot end of the lady leg in your design might well end up snapping his spring bolt off on hitting a hard bump at speed. This can be very disruptive. I always enjoy your show.
Holy crap they are awesome you made it look so easy that is a great idea where do you come up with this stuff YOU ARE THE MAN I would love to make me a set of them I've got a Chevy S10 frame I'm looking for a old, rusty ,30or40s car body I think I know where one is but it is buried in a creek bank also I think I know where I can get me a straight axle from a old Ford pickup that is setting in a junkyard I'm just going to get a piece here and there kind of like the way you do thanks for the video KEEP THEM COMING 👍!!!!
Wish they would start the new Season. Good to see you Steve 🤙😎

I would put them on my grandsons minibike for training wheels! Those are plain COOL!
Hey Steve, Im starting a new yard and handyman service in Las Vegas. Id put them on my trailer. Keep up the good work on the videos.
That would be great advertisement piece people will look at them and see your company sign.
Love watching you work !!

They used those on old moonshine cars back in the day I believe for better handling! I think before shocks became popular thanks for great video!
What an awesome setup! Steve I love your work, I just started a fab shop of my own, those legs would look real nice in my front office!! 😎
Thanks for the info sir. Be safe. Peace
Awesome!!!! Thanks for the Video Steve. I’m going to use this on my VW Rat Rod.
Just like an old school friction dampner only problem with them is the compression and the rebound are the same.
Perfect timing I just picked up a chopped 32 ford 5 window 🤘🏻🤘🏻🚗💨💨💨💨💨
ua-cam.com/video/tvftwxjepwc/v-deo.html check er out 👍
im sure i could get those to work on the rear end of a trike, maybe with a springer front end also, that would be mint. keep up the great work steve.
I would love to see a tutorial of how you build the entire front suspension. I've been inspired by watching the Vegas Rat Rod show and I'm starting to build my own rod. Another badass video
I believe its fishnet stockings 😄
These would be sick on my mega truck!!!! 100% badass
Ide love a set of these on my 29 tudoor. Hoping to come over to your shop soon. Thats my kinda holiday
2wicked steve d they will look awesome on the front of my work truck till i get my 31 started
Straight up right on the old gasser lol
Those are sweet and would look great on my 1930 Ford Model A Roadster! 👍👏🇺🇸🙏
I would put them 34 Chevy.... it's a work in progress but I think they would look cool ...
Awesome channel ,, I want to build a cool rat rod like t bucket . That would work great and look cool . Thanks for the lesson on friction shocks .
I would definitely put them on my 31 Plymouth coupe rat.
Stick them on the back of my ford fiesta be the closest thing to a rat rod I'll ever have. Keep up the great work
I have some air struts on mine that I would ditch and completely redo my front suspension to use those.
You gotta build one called the brothel man!!
Headboard torsion bars for the win.
This guy in Pismo beach has a shop he cuts out lots of steel stuff like that. I bought a cowboy on a horse from him. I bought it and hung it up with all my other western collection of thing's people look at it and steir at all the stuff. With those legs there is so many possibilities what could be done with them.
Proper job 👍😎
i would incorporate them into a lawn chair for the legs and use them for adjustable height and maybe angle of the chair
and the friction material could be tightened up for your more girthy people!
Fishent Stocking they call it , Steve .
Brilliant
Thanks
Id put those units,s on my sons trx40r badass work keep on keeping on
I am working on a 32 Chevy Ratrod, would look cool, Or wall art! Great video Steve
Great vid Steve ...trust you to get the fishnets right😄
Ive got a first gen cummins flat bed they would look awesome on.
Some what straighter knee bend, on my service truck for the rear suspension control arms. Those are sweet
I always enjoy your show.
They would be cool to put in the flower bed going into my house
LOVE WHAT YOU DO!!! KEEP IT UP!
Using a hockey puck is a damn good idea..and I'd put em on my headboard..
Id slam them right on my 40 chevy rat rod i am building they are awesome .Love the vids Steve.
They’ll make great peep mirrors for my 70’s boogie Van... “Gas Grass Or Ass Nobody Rides For Free”
