Continental I think y’all are cool! I’ve loved my Contiextremecontact’s so much that “Contiextremecontact” just popped up on my phones predictive text after typing “Con..”😂. It’s all I run on my Audi’s.
I swear Continental tires are the best kept secret out there. Substance over flash. Please keep it that way! You will have a life long customer and promoter in return.
As a cyclist and motorist, I am amazed at the improvement in tyre technology since the 1970’s. Continental is now my first choice, especially on my bike.
Trevor Christmas ah cool, we’re still planning one. There are two mechanics in our dept. responsible for repairing the hydraulic cylinders, proportional valves, etc. I’m still quite new there, am the electrician for the predictive maintenance team :)
Been using Continental tires for years. I have DW tires on my Porsche 911 and DWS-06 on my Chevrolet SS. They offer great traction, excellent life within the categories you are looking at and fair pricing. An excellent alternative to Michelin and Pirelli.
One thing that never failed to amaze me about Continental tires that I installed on my customers cars back in the late 1970's, the 1980's, and the early 1990's was how "in balance" Continental tires were upon installation. Line up the orange or red dot on the sidewall of the tire with the valve stem on the alloy wheel and 9 out 10 didn't need any balance weights when put on the wheel balancing machine! The first few times I saw that I broke the tire down and slid the "dot" to opposite the valve stem and sure enough it need some weight to be brought into balance; but only like 1/4 to 1/2 oz. Where the Goodyear, Firestone, and all others needed a couple of oz minimum to be "in balance". And the few Continentals that might have needed a weight, it was always just one; never multiple weights at multiple positions on the inside and outside of the wheel to achieve balance. And in those years Continental was about all I ever sold, as long as my customer could afford a top level tire. And I did try the first few China made tire brands that made it to the USA in the early 80's to try to satisfy my few customers who wanted cheap rubber, but it wasn't worth the aggravation of dissatisfied customers and time expended "hammering on" 3 or 4 wheel weights and then a month later having the car return with a shake because the tires I had just installed went out of balance in the first 1000 miles after installation. Hey, the tire sales were a small part of my Asian-manufacturer specialty automotive repair shop, a couple of cars a month for 4 new tires and that's about it. And I installed them myself, having started out "spinning wrenches and busting tires" (and pumping gas in the pre- self-serv days) in a real service station; experience that few automotive technicians ever obtained. And no, I never hired any one that worked for a Goodyear, a Firestone, or a Sears store as I was biased against kids who started out in that type of operation; too many bad habits to try to fix, Ionly hired ex-dealer or techs from other independent shops, or right out of tech school (Lincoln Tech mostly). And other than my two 4x4's which got Goodyears, all I ever installed on my own cars were Continental tires. But I couldn't make them last on my AE86, that 4A-GE burned thru rear tires in 12,000 miles due to breaking the rear tires loose at 7500 rpm when I would got into 2nd gear. LOL But on my '84 Cressida I got over 100,000 miles on a set of Continentals; open differential, automatic transmission, and not enough power to break them loose in the dry.
Nice man I agree Continental does make some crazy lasting good quality tires. I personally bought a brand new 2012 Mazda speed3 that come with some extreme contacts and they have lasted me through the vigorous winter here in Wisconsin as well as a road trip! I personally love the company -- Erik
Interesting... you sold Continental tires in the 1970s and 1980s? The best info I can find is that Continental tires weren't in the USA until after 1987 -- when Continental AG (a German Company) acquired General Tire. Just sayin'.
With all the research you have acquired to date, would you be able to create and show us a chart/map/schematic/family tree of which tire brands own which other tire brands?
Continental also makes the interior for many manufacturers like Ford, Chrysler, Honda, bmw, Tesla and others. They also make pool liners, vinyl material for seats at places like McDonald's, vinyl flooring, vinyl windows for boats and convertibles, medical blood bags, and a ton more. I work in research and development for their films division.
*IMO* The Extremecontact Sports are one of the best bang for your buck tires. Not too soft to where it hurts to daily them, not too pricy, and they're almost as good as their competitor (Pilot Sports) with price taken into consideration.
I've been using Continental tires on my Merceeds and Subaru cars for years. They are very good performance and kind of mid-priced - not the cheapest but not too expensive. Great for the money for sure - they are premium tires. When I rode motorcycles I went with Continental sport touring tires often - they were much less expensive than the competition but just as good, they offered amazing value.
They're a truly epic tire. I kept up with my friend on the dragon when he was one 205/50/15 Direzza Z3s and I was on 205/50/15 Conti ECSs. We were both in Miatas though his was one gen newer (which has a bit more horsepower, stuffer chasis, and better trans).
BAD Ben I have them on my 996 C2 and I was all over my buddy's C6, which has a large horsepower advantage but I was able to brake later, get on power earlier, and didn't have to scrub as much speed through the corners
I'm running continental extreme contact on my Lexus when I was looking for tires I found continental had the best warranty, drive and look of tread for the price
I rocked at least 8 sets of Contiextremecontact DW and DWS over the years. Feel amazing in the rain, and grip hard in the bends. I loved those tires as much in January as I did in July. Currently rocking a set of DWS 255/50/18 on Fifteen52 Formula GTs on my girls Allroad (got that meaty strance). They even stretch well, I ran 235/35/19 on 19x10’s on my Avant. Great go to tire
Love Conti's man! I've been working at discount tire for the past 4 years and I've tried Michelin, Conti's, Pirellis, as well as Yokohamas I have to say best bang for buck hands down is continental tires. I like the underrated extreme contact sport and the Discount Tire exclusive Controlcontact SRS
I have worked for Continental tire now for about 5 months and I do have to say that conti does look out for its people I enjoy my job at conti and I hope to make my experience with them into a long lasting career. I work at the Mt. Vernon, IL plant
I have a Camry Trd and my next set of tires is the Continental Dws06 plus. I had that tire on my Charger Scatpack and I remember how it drove seamlessly and Rolls Royce like smooth. It felt like on high speed I was going down a water slide. It never drove that way with any other tire. The grip is immense and the way it corners is astonishing. They are priced superbly for what you buy. Not cheap but not over priced. It feels good buying this tire because you know you are buying a quality product which will always have your back.
All my rubber comes from Continental. I use DWS06 on my Trans Am, U use their engine belts and even my shoes use continental rubber. They're much bigger than I originally thought!
Had a set of Continental Extreme Winter Contacts on my BRZ for 3 Canadian winters. Never slipped or slid (except when I wanted to), and I drove with traction control and VSC off for 99% of the time. Have a set of Continental Extreme Contact Sports on my AP1 (stock 16" since I couldn't get Michelin Pilot Super Sports for the S2000 in 16") and Honda Fit Sport (15" RPF1s), and they've been extremely (no pun intended) solid performers. The availability in sizes below 17" is great.
I always wanted a set of continentals after they started making the rubber soles for the adidas ultra boost. I thought that was cool to see their logo on the sole of the shoe.
Well, in Europe at least Continental is considered THE tire. We here do not take anything outside of Continental, Good Year/Dunlop, Michelin, and Pirelli to be a premium tire. Yokohama? Mediocre. Toyo? Terrible results when tested, usually doesn't make it past the safety test for wet breaking. A budget solution for the euro scene as well. And oh boy, Nankang... It is a fun perspective, to observe the daily struggles of the US car community I must say. Is it possible that you might have missed as well, one of THE wheel companies - Borbet?
Been using Continental tires on my bicycles for years. Just bought a first set for my car yesterday - DWS Extreme (funny name and it was cheapest name tire on Tire Rack).
Just replaced my Pirelli run flat tires that came with my 2019 Cadillac CTS with Continental TrueContact tires. Super quiet, virtually no road noise or vibration and super shock absorbing qualities. Very happy I made this choice!!
@duke6j I have some on order. “TrueContact TOUR”, is that what you have also? How is the stopping (braking) power? How is it in rain? Have you driven on snow/ice yet? If so, how is it? Seems like an awesome tire. Has great ratings in all weather and conditions! Was about to go with the Michelin CrossClimate2 , which has amazing ratings. But instead I went with the Continental TrueContact Tour. I hope I made the right decision? Thanks alot.
@@mikeike7114 I bought the Continental Pure Contact tires and my prior post says it all! Hugs the road in rain, feels like my tires are glued on as I make any kind of turn, and feel the price was excellent. Never used the snow & ice setting on my car as of yet. I mostly set my car on tour, but if I want a stiffer ride, I'll set it on sport. When it's time for new tires, I'll most likely buy another set. You won't be sorry if you purchase these!!
Getting a set of Continentals LX25 for my Subaru. Did a lot of research. Appreciate their background and how they diversified to grow in business. Their focus is also on much quieter tires which we can all appreciate.
I just bought a set of the “True Contact Tour” tires for my Kia Sorento. Great ride, quiet and very good handling. So far they’re excellent and as good or better than the best I’ve had.
Been running dws06 for about 3years now on my summer wheels and they are great even in heavy rain. I find them shit in the snow up here in the great white north. Oh! And i have conti winters and boy can they cut snow.
Hachi501st Do you have any experience with Continental ContiProContact All Season tires. Got them with a used Volvo V60 wagon. Are they any good around town in Ontario in the winter instead of buying snow tires?
Just Bought Continental Truecontact Tour Tires for my 2013 Honda CRV EXL. The Reviews convinced me they are the best All Season High Mileage Tire for the money. Very quiet and seem very grippy. Happy so far
@Robert Glover Hi. You wrote this comment 3 years ago. Are you still very positive on the Continental TrueContact TOUR tires? Do you still highly recommend them? These tires seem to have great reviews in all weather too! Great in dry, rain, and snow. Great traction, and great stopping (braking) power. Long life as well. From your experience, so you agree to ALL of this, or not? What are your thoughts now after 3 years? You still have these tires on your automobile? I was undecided in choosing these tires or the Michelin CrossClimate2 tires. They too are highly rated. Ultimately I chose the Continental which I have in order. I hope I made the right decision? Thank you.
Most of the Mercedes Benz cars I’ve owned have had either Continentals or Michelins as OEM. I had one that had Pirelli PZeros and I hated them. Noisy, rough ride ETC. When they wore out (in 20,000 miles!) i replaced them with Continental Conti Pro Contacts and it rode as smooth as silk with little road noise. My current car (2019 Mercedes E300 4matic) came with Pirelli Cinturato P7 run flats and they're terrible. Not only extremely loud but rough riding AND I dont know if its because they’re run flats with the hard sidewalls but hard turns feel like there’s a bulge in the front tires. I took it to the Mercedes dealer and was told “nope, there’s nothing wrong with the car. Its the tires”. I cant wait until the tires either wear out or age out to put Continentals on it! And no more of the run flat nonsense!
Every pair of Continental tires I've ever owned going back to the 1990's have been great. My next set will be the ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS for my '13 Ford Fusion Titanium. 235/40R-19.
I just got falkens on my 2012 civic, because discount tire didn’t have the continentals in stock...fast forward two weeks, I have worse gas mileage and a bubble on one of the falkens after hitting a pothole, The pro contacts I had before had hit many potholes with 0 issues lol. Luckily they’re letting me trade these for continental pro contacts too, will just pay the difference.
So, I have a mk7 golf r. I plan on installing the 034 Motorsport lowering springs soon with some new wheels and tires for summer. My question is what tire? I’m lookin at the continental contact sports or the Michelin pilot sport 4S’s. There’s about a 200 dollar difference for my size of 235/35/19. I will hardly ever go to a track, drag strip sometimes but mostly city and highway driving.........
My car is at Mavis Tire right now to be fitted with 245/45/18 Pure Contact LS tires on my 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan 3.8 HTrac. Had Michelin MXV4 and they were okay but not great. Even Consumer Reports lists this or par or even better than Michelin Premier A/S.
My initial comments with the first drive was it helped absorb nmuch. much better the often harness over rougher roads from the Michelin MXV4 tires I replaced. The Michelins also experienced vibrations transmitting through the steering wheel. I want to note that the previous tires were not worn out but had probably a good 10,000 miles left but I was done. Glad I made the move.
Cosmis S1 Hyper Bronze since they want you guys to run their wheels , but if you guys decide to get something else after that , I'd recommend the Rotiform LHR 2pcs , a modern take on one of the classic BBS wheels that came on the stock BMW.
Went tire shopping recently for a ll season tire thats good in the snow as i live in boston so we get plenty of it. The hankook tires that came with my car are ok but from what i have heard about continental is that they make great all-season tires for a good price
Riding my old bike "calzado" with Continental Race King 26" 2.0 ,good compound ,light as a feather ,I guess 400 gr.Good grip on any surface ,with the adecuate pressure. Good job on you making the video and the same for them ,with the quality they provide.
Great job. Lots and lots of cool info. Just bought a set of continental extreme contact dws06 tires and I'm very impressed with performance, especially in the wet.
Great Info on these Tyres. I'm actually getting these Tyre Brand next Week. I didn't realise how actually good they are. The History is also Great to know. Well Done. I'm glad I came across these Brand of Tyre by Chance when i spoke to my mechanic.
Clearly the DWS06 is the most popular Continental, is it a good tire for stretching? I watched the spotlight video you guys did on it and you showed the sidewall flex... Looked kinda thin TBH lol
Continental did some Whitewall tires in 1984 or 1985......pretty cool in 205-50-15. The whitewall were at least 30mm high and have a black lettering in it. Looking cool, but weren't produced since them.
The ExtremeContact DWS 06s I recently got seem to be working out quite well so far. I'm waiting for a huge downpour out here to see how they really do in lousy weather.
Product naming could be part of why Continental isn't storming the market. I had an online tool recommend tires based on my requirements, their #1 pick for me was Continental's "Control Contact Sport SRS+". That's an awkward mouthful, hard to remember, and doesn't really tell me anything about the tire. What's worse, there are several other options with very similar names. It's just a confusing mess. Still, I ordered the set. I am curious to see how they perform.
Been a Continental fan for years: first with ContiPro Contacts on a VW Jetta, through to Winter Contact SIs on a Toyota Corolla and VW Golf, not to mention the set of DWS 06 Plus tires that I have on order for my STi.
I'm looking to run a 255/35/18 tire for my WRX and am having trouble choosing between Continental Extremem Contact DWS06 or Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. Fitment Industries, do you have an opinion or advice? I run the car as my daily and don't race at all of that helps. I just want a really good tire.
I just bought a set of 4 CrossContact ATR's on ebay for $335 usd. Nice price! I'm hoping for the best because I didn't want to spend alot. I'm putting them on my 21 yr. old AWD Chevy Astro that gets alot of miles on gravel and dirt roads. I noticed on the sidewalls they're marked made in South Africa ?! I had no idea tires were made there. Anyway, there are lots of good reviews so I'm hoping they're not junk 🤨
Continental really never has advertisers or advertisements and I don't know why cuz Goodyear, Michelin, Bridgestone are on TV alot and they have signs everywhere but my experience is there tires don't last as long Continental does, all my Continentals last until 65,000 to 70,000 miles before needing changed those other 3 brands I mentioned earlier I get only 40,000 out of them. I know Continental are usually more expensive though but you get what you pay for. Also in the rain these tires have no issues going 80 mph in down pour of rain 😊
Thanks bro for that complete coverage!! I work for Conti in the Andean Region and you just gave me a very interesting hint to make our tires more cool for our and next generations!! 🐎
That's a massive coverage - thanks very much! We are still working on that 'cool'! ;)

Conti ECS/DWS blows to doors off anything Toyo/Nitto are doing. Even at Nitto price point they're still weak.
I only run Continental tires on my mountain bike. Thanks for the variety so I can mix and match.
I think winnig winthertire tests is pretty cool 😀

My current car (2019 Mercedes E300 4matic) came with Pirelli Cinturato P7 run flats and they're terrible. Not only extremely loud but rough riding AND I dont know if its because they’re run flats with the hard sidewalls but hard turns feel like there’s a bulge in the front tires. I took it to the Mercedes dealer and was told “nope, there’s nothing wrong with the car. Its the tires”. I cant wait until the tires either wear out or age out to put Continentals on it! And no more of the run flat nonsense!
i roll continental extreme contact sports, they are fantastic!
My Mercedes key fob is made by continental! So they still make “stuff”
Every pair of Continental tires I've ever owned going back to the 1990's have been great. My next set will be the ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS for my '13 Ford Fusion Titanium. 235/40R-19.
Just put a set of Continental TerrainContact A/T's on my Ram 2500. Gone about 1k miles and loving them so far!
Shoot us an email at shop@fitmentindustries.com and we can help you with this one!
Fitment Industries email sent sir thanx
planning on putting these on my 99 Firebird. Was thinking 255/45ZR17 front and 295/35ZR18 rear. Was wondering how those would look on a Firebird
@Fitment Industries thoughts?
Just grabbed some Continental DWS06 for my 335i.
I bought a set for my BMW K1200RS . Good enough for Airplanes , good enough for me . I used to deliver tires for Continental Airlines . 😊
I have the extreme contact sport they are an awesome tire!
Great job. Lots and lots of cool info. Just bought a set of continental extreme contact dws06 tires and I'm very impressed with performance, especially in the wet.
Oh yeah, I just picked up my second set of DWS06 last month love the way they handle in this tough Wisconsin weather!😂
I use Continental tires on my car and my bicycle, I think they are awesome tires!
For a second I thought this was a lets play of the new Spider Man game that just got released.
Nitto! I mean Ditto! 😏
If it helps I think the cover photo was heavily influenced by the game coming out 😂
Continental did some Whitewall tires in 1984 or 1985......pretty cool in 205-50-15.
The whitewall were at least 30mm high and have a black lettering in it.
Looking cool, but weren't produced since them.
Winter Contacts (made by Continential) are some of the best Winter tires ive used besides blizzaks
The ExtremeContact DWS 06s I recently got seem to be working out quite well so far. I'm waiting for a huge downpour out here to see how they really do in lousy weather.
The opening to this was the greatest thing ever that just made my entire year lol
They’re pretty dope. I got some DWS06 on a e92 335i
Sounds dope dude have you ever uploaded your ride to our gallery before?bit.ly/2Ma4oca
I have the DWSs not first set of Continentals I've owned. The absolute BEST EVER tires!
Continental tires are number one tires in ADAC tests, more often then not. What is more cool then that?
Whats more cool then safety...? Nothing 😂👍
Don’t know if there’d be enough out there to make a video but how about doing something on VP Race fuels?
Vp Vs Sunoco
i just got some continental contisport 3 275/40r19s, y’all think the ones i got are good tires ?
My favorite all season tires are my DWS06s.
Especially ever since they saved my life is a snow and ice storm many years ago.
Those tires are king right now as far as low pro all season tires go
putting on the DWS06+ this weekend.... so excited
The truth about OhLin’s suspension would be awesome👍
Been running continental tires on my truck "AT's" couldn't be happier.
Just had extreme contacts dws06s put on my fusion, hoping they will give me more confidence in the snow than my stock Goodyear eagles did.
AYE WHATS THAT FIRE BEAT PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND?!
Sorrow by Cormel!
Fitment Industries gracias
I love your sense of humour. Don't stop. You're great 🥂
Thank you! 🙏🏼❤️
Can you guys make a top lightweight wheels
I'm looking to run a 255/35/18 tire for my WRX and am having trouble choosing between Continental Extremem Contact DWS06 or Michelin Pilot Sport 4s. Fitment Industries, do you have an opinion or advice? I run the car as my daily and don't race at all of that helps. I just want a really good tire.
I personally love my Extremecontact's they work super awesome in the winter! 🤘🔥
Fitment Industries what about in FL where it doesn't snow? Still good?
Tabernacle... NAILED IT! Could you do the truth about Centerline wheels or Rocket Racing wheels?
Centerline on the list brother! 👍
Really appreciate you guys and your hard work of bring knowledge to people these videos have been so helpful and informational!
Glad you enjoyed our videos! Don't forget to sub to us if you have not already!
Great series!
Got them on my Tesla. Very impressed
Glad you found our video helpful! 🙌
Loving their Sure Contact line thru NTB and Tire Kingdom (got half my family riding on them!)
You must do a ymca video now
DWS Extreme Contact...Great all season performance tire and in snow. Cheers!
Thats what I am running, They work perfect in our Wisconsin weather! 🙏🏼
Looking for tire brand for long, daily high speed highway drive on extreme hot and extreme rainy temperature...
Do you guys not have Pirelli over there in U.S.A?
No we do!
Could we please get a video on them....Pretty please :)
Were in Wisconsin are you?
I love their tire's and also had a pair of adidas all terrain sneakers with their sole that lasted for years and were washed many many times.
Do the continental mc6 stretch well?
Yeah,
Great stuff as always, tremendous job/info
If Alex could speak 10% slower, it would be GREATLY appreciated 😬
Holler Jasper
Just ordered some continentals for my road bike can’t wait
Yokohama and Kumho would be awesome
I have some kumho road venture at 1 on my 2009 Tacoma and only got 23,000 on them and they are shot . Putting a set of Continental ht on in 2 days
Wow! I just wanted to know if they made good tires. Thank you.
What are thoughts on the new continental truecontacs LS in low profiles like 235/40r19 ? Great take
General is my go to for all season tires. I’ve run any Continental tires yet, but when Michelins on my GTI wear out I’ll try a set of Continentals.
I had the Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 on my Shelby GT500 and I am impressed with them.
So who’s burgundy Chevy is that in the back? Can we see it? Or I see it? I think I’m the only one interested
That would be our tricked out Astro van on Daytons! 😂👍
