Japan are carrying a few veterans that aren’t at the level required now. But without the well known names the greater public lose interest, and with less viewers etc.. the Japan rugby union know how to keep sponsors happy.

Unfortunately Japan is not even remotely the team that stunned the world in 2019, I guess with Fukuoka retiring early, they lost one of their go to try scorers. As for Italy......don't be fooled, until proven otherwise we still suck balls. Georgia beat us last year in a test match and then beat us again this year at the under 20 world cup. New Zealand and France are gonna have a lot of fun, I'm afraid.

Italy was awesome but Japan was good too. Many are saying Japan was better in 2019 but I think they're about the same. Other teams have simply made much more progress such as Italy. Japan lost many points due to poor kicking and "gifted" last mimute tries attempting complex pass combos that were very interesting and ambitious. I do believe that even though it would be a small surprise, they could shock a poor England team.
Well played and a good win. Just wished Germany was on the level with Italy in rugby. Out of the three former axis powers from WWII, Germany is no where to be seen; when Japan and Italy consistently qualifies for RWC.
Deutschland produced a really good player recently (Anton Segner) but he plays here in New Zealand now and even represented NZ under 20's side a few years ago.

Also today more than 3/4 of the player that have played for Japan was.not japanese, but fijians and tongans and even some southafrican. Now if the cycle will give Japan strong foreign players, Japan will be strong, but if the foreigners are nothing special this will happen...not havibg Japanese players for this level. That's why is fundamental breeding their own national players, as Italy did.
