Abstract Acrylic Painting Techniques Using a Catalyst Wedge
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 бер 2021
- This is a time-lapsed abstract acrylic painting demonstration on canvas. This is how I use fluid acrylics and a catalyst wedge to create movement and build layers. This is NOT a "How to Paint an Abstract Painting" video, but hopefully will give you inspiration and ideas for your own DIY abstract painting.
Adjust the settings on the video to watch a slower version and to gain a better understanding of my technique.

So beautiful... I like it !!
Wow! Amazing as always! Thanks for sharing your talent!
Thank you very much!
Nice colour combo 💗
What great technology! I am completely amazed by the excitingly beautiful color nuances that working with this silicone catalyst wedge produces! This makes me want to try out a new technique again. The colors you pour onto the canvas will look beautifully saturated and not watery. If you have the normal tube colors from well-known manufacturers, how can you mix such beautiful colors for this technique? I can't see for sure, but are there drying times between new coats of paint? I would be very grateful for a tip.
Fantastic painting dear friend artista..
This painting is so satisfying ☺️
Thank you so much 😀

Actually this is beautiful but I would have loved to heard you describing what you are doing. The colors used, your tools, tricks etc.

Holy cow , I love this. New subscriber!!!
Thank you so much!
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👏👏👏👏👏
Absolutely stunning, your creativity is beautiful and the color combo I cant stop looking at it, I think you did an amazing job. But I do have to agree with a comment that someone made, that it would have been nice to here you describe how you do things so you go and how you came up with your color selection. Alot of people make theese speed viedos, and I feel if you take your time to watch a painting tutorial it's because you are instred in learning, speed painting is not fun to watch because you get no knowledge out of them at all. But well done, maybe I will learn how to make one of my own someday. Thank you.
I agree, feel the same way :(
Wow 🤩 What an amazing masterpiece! Great techniques! You process most incredible artistic skills! This is so creative! Absolutely love it ! Keep it up the good work!!!... 👍+🔔

💖
Waw!!!
Wow!
hello, is a simple and ingenious technique. I would like to know how long the individual steps have to dry. Thanks
Is the paint your using thinned out? Beautiful!!!
Have u paint ur canvas before with while clr or something before applying colors
If you are using Liquitex soft body acrylics why are you pouring them from a cup? Did you dilute them?
Yes I did, with Liquitex flow aid and water.
Love your work Court! Nice wedges :) Also, when you smudge, I see you wipe and clean quickly and efficiently. What do you use? Paper towel and water? 🥂
Thank you! Yes, just water and paper towel.
Great work thanks for sharing! Would also share what kind of brushes those are with the flat handles ?
I use paddle brushes and a catalyst wedge :)
Do you let every color dry before adding another color or layer?
👍❤️🌷
Acrylic only or mix with water?
Do you wait for each part to dry before moving on to the other colors?
It depends on the layer - I would say the first half of the painting is always wet and the last layers are dry
Very Nice, inspiring. Do you mix the paint with water or juist pure?
Sometimes, it depends on the brand. I use fluid acrylics mostly, so there is no need.
do you have paint white on th canvas first?
I love your work. It is very stylish and elegant. May I ask if your canvas is pre-prepared in anyway?
It’s primed with gesso and painted white
@@CourtSeniorART thank you very much
More info needed on application with water 3:43
Could you please do a video on how you thin your paints for this type of painting please. Thank you.
I use flow aid or a little water, but mostly it's just straight fluid acrylics :)
Court, at 2:29 you applied a thin coat of white over the aubergine and it didn't get smushed together- the white became a film over the aubergine. Is that because the aubergine was a bit dry by then?
When I try to apply the light cover over dark with the wedge they blend together and now it's no longer a layer but mush. How do you keep the light colors over the dark from merging together but remaining distinct and layered? This has been my biggest problem. If I wait and let the colors underneath dry, I can do it.
Your advice? thanks
When using white - the layers do need to be dry underneath unless your looking for a blending effect. In this case the layers were dry :)
@@CourtSeniorART that explains it! Thanks!!!
😃🧡😃
This is amazing! I wanted to see it Finnished. Is it Finnished? Looks like you were still working on it when video cut off. Its very cool piece of art
I added only a couple more elements to it after :)
@@CourtSeniorART please add a finished pic to your video ?!!!
How do you mix your paints please.
Bonjour,
J'aime beaucoup votre peinture avec les galets sculpteurs... Bravo...
Je n'arrive pas à en trouver,
J'aimerais tester.. Pouvez-vous me dire où je peux les trouver facilement ???
Merci à vous.
Nicole
Wow!!! U using fluid paint or glazing medium?
Fluid paint :)
@@CourtSeniorART fantastic wedge work
La musique est fabuleuse... C'est la même pendant toute la vidéo?...
How do you load your wedge?!
Hi Ma'am. Do you add water to the soft body acrylics? Thank you!🙏
I mix water with flow aid :)
@@CourtSeniorART Thank you, Ma'am!🌻
Hi Which type of paint is used will it be okay to use acrylic
All of my tools are listed in the description :)
Loved this but would have liked to see the finished result.
I think it is beautiful. I think you have a lot of water in your paint but I don't know about the wht.
Looks amazing.
This is gallery wrapped canvas from Michael’s
Super
Mais dommage qu’il n’y aucune traduction française
Car pour les débutants il faut que l’on sache comment faire ? 😘
Original retiens le regard.j’aime.
The blue and purple is so intense. I find it hard to find colours this strong or even mix them that strong
These are fluid acrylics from Golden and Liquitex - right out of the bottle :)
Is it acrylic paint?
Yes :)
Why u always shows un finished painting
Actually this is very interesting…
But the choice of music is apparently not appropriate .
