I find this so strange given part of 4HWW’s lesson was to automate, delegate, or eliminate things that don’t add to your happiness. Cool to hear about this side of Tim

A couple of rich people who use money to separate themselves from the rest of us talking as experts about how not to use money to solve happiness problems... Same old

Tim if you can't delegate meaningless things to your employees then you simply have to practice it. It's not enough to make the mental decision, yo have to practice that mindset.

Money definitely opens the door to happiness, or you can say makes the door a lot bigger. So in a way, yes, money definitely can buy happiness. It gives you all the tools and puts you on the highway to happiness.

Crappy people won't be happy with or without money. It's not the money, it's the fact that they don't know how to be happy. Having or not having money has nothing to do with your internal state. Me? I'm really good at being happy, so if I had lots of money, I could definitely use it to buy more happiness.

As the wise saint once said: "It is much better to give than to receive." For me, more "Stuff" never satisfies happiness. When I procure experiences OR am able to create experiences/situations for others, I get way more joy outta that.

Growth makes me happy … money is a biproduct of growth and working on yourself. Just getting money doesn’t produce long lasting happiness … just look at trust fund kids .. they are NEVER happy… because their life purpose was snuffed out before it had a chance. Purpose makes you happy

No money does not buy happiness. For awhile I had money to go anywhere in the world and doing things,, it was not about novelty or things but rather happiness came from sharing worthy experiences together with someone. I had done enough by myself that all that had worn off. Sharing and making stuff to share is more important. Money is just a tool to enable to do something quickly and easily. Not always the best practice. Be frugal but giving.

A living wage buys happiness, a CEO making more in one day than the employees make in a lifetime buys civil unrest for the rest of us.

Money provides SECURITY, OPTIONS, and TIME (which equate to freedom and subsequently positive existential meaning). My first job was under an open sky on hard rock asphalt drying cars for $5.25/hr. In my early 20's I worked 60-70 hour weeks for a salary that equated to less than $11/hr. That's physical, emotional, and existential imprisonment. Happiness is an emotion, not a state. Yes, money can buy a surge of endorphins but that feeling (like all feelings...is temporary). Money "buys"/provides a STABILITY which can (+ in my case does) produce a more deeply meaningful and CONTENT existence.

Yes its true money has the power to solve problems and can help us & others. There is a different between happiness, joy and pleasure. Ture joy & happiness comes when one is free from inward pain, hurts & sorrow.

Money is only a means of acquisition. It could buy something that resembles happiness, but that is often a fleeting high that requires constant expenditure, like a drug fix. People who value experiences over material things can use money to buy access to those, and they often report feeling more content over people who simply buy objects to "flex" in front of others.

Great Tim - Peter Attia sat down to speak with Bill Perkins the author of Die with Zero, so you're now the second person to bring this book to my attention just this week! Bill decided to look at his TIME spent on things, rather than his money spent of things. For instance, he gave an example of taking his Mother, and all his family members on an expensive vacation, realizing the TIME he's spending with these people that mean so much to him was worth the cost of the trip. He does this with simpler things as well. Fascinating concept. I will probably have to read this book, now that I've heard about it twice in the span of a few days. Great content - keep it coming.

Money can`t directly buy happiness off course, but it can surely buy freedom from doing things you dislike on a regular basis. It buys more opportunities in life and autonomy. Autonomy is quite important for happiness. I remember the stress back in the day of living paycheck to paycheck, which absolutely felt like it reduced quality of life.
