i have enjoyed watching your videos. thanks for the excellent visuals and explanations! i was wondering, my problem is that i don't know how to set up a torch. do you think that maybe you could do a video on that? safety, setting it up on the work surface, etc.? i am ready to get started at home, but am not confident in getting the torch and gas connected, set up and going. thanks!
Hello, congratulations and thanks a lot for your videos. May I ask you the type of your burner and how it works with your pedal in order tio adjust the flame, high or low. Best, Philippe, France
#Moses, yes there is one reason: failing to heat both edges red-hot. As #john smith suggested, use a massive flame, or design a torch with closely-spaced outlets that would heat the entire length of the sheet you want to join. Remember, it can't be a long tube because the outlets at the far end won't get as much gas so your flame will be uneven. Did that satisfy your troll?
Hi beadnik72! I have severral videos that will help you with that. Look through my videos and find the ones called Hot Glass Tips # 2 through # 5. They give you safety tips and show how to hook up and use the torch. Let me know if you have questions after viewing these. I think they will answer most of your questions.
To butt in, your darker glasses, if they're proper didymium flameworking glasses, have a darker shade so you can work colors more comfortably. Using lighter shade didys on some colors is brutal on your eyes.

I'm starting a glass class this week, this is going to help me be ahead of all the new students.
The lens is called ACE, AV2000, or Phillips 202. You can find a large selection on the Arrow Springs site.
Can you please direct me to a source for the torch you are using, types of gas, and setup. Thanks.
great video! very informative. please keep up the good work!
I need to get 2 glass bottles to weld together. I tried but they blew up. Any tips for welding bottles side by side?

Does this work the same with German schott glass?
Good video thanks for information
Great video, thank you! Is there a reason why I can`t connect together large thick sheets of glass to make a monolith aquarium?
massive flame

What kind of glass do you use? And can I use a chemistry heat resistant test tube? I want to make it shorter.
I use borosilicate glass which has COE of 33. That is exactly what your test tubes are made of so you can certainly use those.
it is possible to weld two common bottles by the neck ?
did you find out the answer?? I want to know as well.
No because they are soda ash glass.
why doesn't the glass crack when he heats it up rapidly
