  • So in today's motovlog I'm gonna show you guys a really cheap homemade Husqvarna 701 Supermoto fender eliminator. Some of the pre-built ones you can buy are upwards to $300, which is just ridiculous for how easy it is to do it yourself for pocket change.

    Thanks for sharing - I was just about to buy a fender eliminator but watching your video saved me around $170. I basically did the same thing you did and it worked out great.

      +Dave Troughton Awesome to hear man. I figured any money saved on stuff like this means more cash to spend on other stuff like exhaust and crash protection.

    r&g make a killing on their tail tidys and its always out of stock or you have to order from europe and wait ages to get it, i found a cheap 30 dollar one on ebay that comes with a cheapo tail light but then i went to chaparall and bought the DRC tail light its the same one crashking from supermofools used on his 690 recently it looks like it was meant to be there

    Awesome video bud. I’m about to do the same to my 23. I’m surprised that saw made it that long!

    You used a masonry drill bit 😂

      +Nick Ellis Ha my friend said the same, I was like I thought all drill bits were the same....😂😂😂 fail on my part.

    Instead of drilling a big hole for the wires, I'm thinking about making a groove at the top to put the wires through. I think the wires would be more snug and less water can get through.

    • @MotardSteve
      @MotardSteve  5 років тому

      Yeah that would work too. I didn't think much of that but I doubt either way you'll have an issue with water getting in

    Good common sense video, I did similar with my 701 Enduro. Useless tail tidy savings applied to Rottweiler goodies (O2 sensor dongle, canister and SAS deletes). The engine is far less covered in hoses now and it's ass no longer looks like ass - LOL

    Hey Steve I'd recommend cutting out a piece of Lexan or some kind of backing plate for your plate, adds a lot of strength and my plate hasn't had any problems whatsoever.

    • @MotardSteve
      @MotardSteve  7 років тому +1

      +iAmWIRide I may do that because when I looped the plate got trashed pretty bad, but I was able to hammer it out flat again luckily.

    I'm also thinking about drilling two holes in the fender to mount the light. I think it would look ok with the black screws that hold the light.

    crazy how diffrent the lights are from the europian ones.. a lot smaller than yours.
    well done tbh with the fender!! :D

      +Stark Biker Yeah I wish we had the tiny square tail light on ours here and the led signals. I guess one plus is we dont have the giant square license plates here. Haha. Thanks man. I think it turned out pretty good.

      This is the kit you want to buy if you want to do the usa blub to euro led conversion. Worked great on my 701.

      MotardSteve True! our plates are so huge and ugly.. like 5 year ago it was even smaller than yours an de now twice as big.. 😂 hahaaa

    Great mod! Funny you kept the plate covered during install then let her rip, hehe

      +MotoHikin'BC Yeah idk my brain had a weird moment with that. Covered it then was like "who cares" not like anyone can really do anything with the information.

    I purposefully run my plate connected loosely with zip ties and only at the top two mounting holes. That way it flaps in the wind and exhaust vibrations, and cops can't read it. If they run my plate, they will see that i only have my temps and should not be riding at night. Also, it keeps that shit from snapping off when I scrape fender

  • @MotardSteve
    @MotardSteve  7 років тому +7

    It should be a crime to put such an ugly piece of junk on such a purely beautiful work of art, But really though, who wants to spend a couple hundred bucks for a kit when you can do the job yourself for pennies.

    • @billymckee9438
      @billymckee9438 7 років тому +1

      I would pay the money for one if they kept the nice big tail light. I've only seen two kits, one with a tiny LED strip that includes blinkers / illegal plate position for CA, and another with an ugly red tail light. Your way is the best bet so far.

      Billy McKee Yeah the bikelitez one is stupid looking and the R&G one isn't much better. plus they are both upwards of $200

      +JeBehaardeOma Haha yeah my buddy pointed that out instantly lolol. I got Masonry bits. I was clueless 😂

    The reason you struggled drilling the fender is because you were using a masonary bit ...

    • @MotardSteve
      @MotardSteve  5 років тому

      Lol yeah my dumbass found that out after the fact 😂

    Must be the hardest plastic ever lol. They're really getting their money with those $300 ones, I think my DRZ cost maybe $100. The bracket was 40 of that too

    • @MotardSteve
      @MotardSteve  7 років тому

      +MotoJeeper Yeah I looked it up again and it's closer to 200 but still, this cost me $30 bucks and that's only because I had to buy a drill and stuff.

    • @KeepOnJeepinOn

      yeah it's always better to do it yourself lol people always like my skateboard wheel sliders

      Izreal 3345 Gotta save that green, especially when the exhaust I'm looking at is $563 but it's one of them fancy SC Project ones. 😎
