Contane 21 everyone gives different answers really. I did it a few months back, never bled it but added some more coolant and the car has been fine. No odd fluctuations, CELs, etc
I bought mine from Jet, My car is in the shop getting head work done and long tube headers, After that, Im going to hemi fever tuning so I can get everything tuned with the handheld tuner
Yeah. Sometimes that happens when you’re in colder climates because the car says it’s taking too long to warm up since the thermostat starts opening at a lower temperature. If you get a tune, correct that and the fan settings, you won’t get that code anymore or you can just run it in warmer climates and you’ll be golden.
Seems that the only people that have the light come on for the thermostat change are people living in cold climates parking outside. The car sees that it takes too long for it to get up to operating temperature.
Just installed a mishimoto thermostat on my 2019 Dodge Charger scatpack about 2 days ago.. Today was cruising in town for like an hour and my coolant level started reading at 212 and 217 do you have any feed back?
Scottyboi TMT I have heard several people have problems from the Mishimoto thermostat. If you were stopping for several min or driving at speeds below 40 miles per hour they will still get close to the stock temps because the stock fans settings but should drop back down quickly once you start driving closer to highway speeds. I would check and make sure it is still full on water. I have read a few horror stories of people with Mishimoto thermostats having their car overheat in traffic and at the track.
I had a 180 thermostat for about a month now and it started overheating yesterday it got up there I’m going to change it back to oe temp and change the temp sensor aswell
There’s no way a lower temperature thermostat can cause your vehicle to overheat and less you got a faulty thermostat. Which can happen. More than likely you didn’t get all the air out of the system or you have a bad temperature sensor which I’m guessing you suspect since you’re changing it also.
Anyone getting check engine light code p0128 ? Pretty much saying it’s running colder then it should be ? Got it a while after installing a 180 , never had this problem with my 203
I never got it on the two scat packs I installed a 180 on or the hellcat. Maybe you have a bad 180 thermostat. Or you’re gonna call the climate I think that code has to do with how quickly it’s warming up.
Nice subscribe to your channel. I had a few check engine lights on my charger but it started causing a lil problem so switch back to stock for now will have to order another
@@KnightsGarage I will get another 180 because I didn't bleed the line after it cause my temp hand to jump up and down and I got an occasional code saying temp is below operating temps I even had the fan settings set by my diablo tuner it works well on the stock 203 before I changed but I have to get another 180 it does take a little longer in the winter to get fully warm
I think it depends on your climate and all if you live in a cold climate where it’s going to take a long time to come up to operating temperature when you start driving your vehicle may throw a code. But the code is basically just saying it feels like it’s taken too long to come up to operating temperature.
@@KnightsGarage Well I live in Hawaii so hopefully when I do this I get no code I guess if I do A 180I should probably set my cooling fans between 170 and 1 second and 175 what do you think
@@paulhyde4899 I really can’t remember exactly what Jay Greene Set mine too but I wanted to say it was higher than the thermostat set point because he said if you said it to load the fans would run all the time and it would wear them out quickly. JIMBO SLICE I hope that stays the same when it gets colder outside. But I think the problem comes when people let their cars sit and “warm up” on cooler mornings. But none the less no CEL’s for me yet.
If this is better, why didn’t they put this in from the factory? It can’t be cost, and there must be a reason (maybe the factory part is good for most use cases in most places). I feel like this is a mod that’s trying to outsmart the engineers.
@@KnightsGarage Did you see MPGs go down after this? I can’t imagine it had any measurable impact, vs the performance or safety gains (enough for engineers to go the route they did). I would have guessed the computer compensated for any delta in operating temps and adjusted fuel output accordingly.
@@whiskey392 I experience no difference in MPG. Higher engine temperatures are purely for lower omissions to meet EPA standards. If you’re worried about omissions then you shouldn’t have a high-performance car. I'm debating on doing either a 160 t stat or a 180 t stat on my 5.7 R/T...these FL summers aren't no joke
I feel your pain on that one!
Personally I would do the 180 over the 160. I just feel like the 160 isn’t hot enough for an engine. But that’s just personal preference
I started a conversation about this on my Challenger forum. Ended up being talked out of it.
