@EdwardinTX - thanks to your video I was able to save $200 - $300 + on the repair of my pool pump. I ordered the exact same capacitor and it arrived the next day, and it only took me about 15 minutes to remove the existing one and put the new one in. My capacitor was toast and that was the only issue. The best feeling in the world was when I flipped the switch and the pump started running again. Felt great to save all of that money. Thank you!

Thanks for the tips bro. I couldn’t get my hand in far enough to feel the impeller so I stuck a screwdriver inside and poked around and thanks to God my pump started! Yes the sound of glory was heard! Just an FYI my pump is the Pentair Variable Speed 342001
Great video! Thanks. Have the exact same motor and this morning, on the 10th anniversary after installation, it just stopped running. Was shopping for new motor, $300+ dollars and saw this video. Pulled the capacitor, checked it per the video and it was bad. Ordered the $8.00 capacitor from Amazon.
Great job it is always good to be a handyman and since texas has tornadoes,hurricanes and other crazy weather what would be the home insurance if the price of the property was about 300k
EdwardInTX also, I suggest you to use hammer only when opening the lid, when you’re closing, just hand-tight it. It also says in the manual to not over-tighten. But you don’t need to use hammer at all. You just give it a couple of strokes, and it comes off easily. Make a video about that
the leslie pool service quoted me $1500 on a new god damn pump cause the thing died but they refused to check the electrical parts only did a volt check going to the pump
What made u think it was the capacitor, and how long do they last on average? My intelliflo was having problem priming, and I let it set a few days then went to troubleshoot it. The pump turned on, but u couldn't get it to run, and the display numerals were very light

Yes, pump basket needs the open hole oriented toward the input pipe.

Thanks! You're looking about $1,700-3,000 a year on that kind of house, so 1%/yr. Geico quotes would be a great starting point.

Yeah, the basket is in the wrong position. That way you’re blocking your line. Hole in the basket must be aligned with the suction hole.

Gee. I would hope it is a simple capacitor replacement than a choked up motor. Did you check for continuity like in this video?
Does it make any difference which wire goes to a terminal? They're not marked. I have a brown wire and a black wire .

I think yours uses a longer capacitor. My recommendation is to open it first to check, then order. That's what I ended up doing.

Pump didnt start at all for me. Also testing the capacitor with a meter and it failed continuity test
Does it hum or is it silent if it's the capacitor
Silent may be capacitor. Hum may be a stuck impeller OR capacitor

You put basket in wrong. Hole in strainer goes towards pump inlet not to pump side
You put the pump basket the wrong way in. The hole is supposed to align with the intact pipe. Great work otherwise.

Dude, first thing you basket is in backwards on pump. You shouldn't need a mallet to open or close lid!
