The real success of Heartland was and still is the Amy and Ty love story. The dating in the season 18 trailer and the current episodes especially Amy's relationship with Nathan is simply the writers attempt to keep the storyline interesting, and not boring.Assuming Ty doesn't return the writers will conclude the series with Amy unable to accept another(not just because Ty can't be replaced} because of her continuing strong love and feelings for Ty. She will conclude that her peace and happiness is with her as a single mother raising Lindy in the manner Ty would have wanted. In my opinion, because we had 14 years of this remarkable love story, whereby the viewers got to intimately know Ty, it makes it nearly impossible to erase him from the viewers minds and on a larger scale future Heartland seasons. It's a testament toTy's impact on the series, in that he still remains the topic of much fan discussion and love even though he has been missing for over 4 years.
Once again, nobody's erasing Ty! Graham decided to leave the show and everybody on the production moved on, as they should, Graham is not coming back. And just because Ty died doesn't mean Amy needs to go on raising her daughter alone and that can't be happy with someone else.
I agree with you 100% and if you bring up ty everyone jumps all over you. Also why does everyone like Nathan he's a vindictive jerk! He's the one who started everything! From the billboard to him getting heartland beef off the shelves. Now he's out for revenge after Lou mistakenly said something about his dad! He also went around town talking crap on heartland! I'd rather her be with someone else anyone else. I really hate Nathan and I am so tired of Amy putting him first and making Lou look like the bad guy! Lou is trying to save heartland and her family! Even at the end she went to his house for dinner instead of being with her daughter! Thank you for saying what you did I'm so sick and tired of people wanting Amy and Nathan together it makes me so mad!
@josephfratto I'm not against Amy finding true love again. It will be interesting to see how the writers develop the Amy/Nathan storyline. It seems like Lyndy is fond of Nathan. Ty will always be a part of Heartland.

NO TY NO HEARTLAND AMY be a mother to your daughter and keep the legacy of your mother and TY that's the only thing that's going to save this show from going under no stupid love interest it makes AMY look too cheap and we don't want to watch another soap opera crap be yourself family with your daughter And legacy with TY and your mother you can literally save Heartland yourself by taking on that mentality...!!!!!...!!!???
I agree with you and I honestly hate Nathan! He's a vindictive jerk out to destroy heartland from the beginning! Lou is trying to save heartland and her family and the only thing any cares about is him! I used to love the show I couldn't wait to see the new season I even started watching the show because of Amy and Ty's love story and now I sit with my arms folded! I just don't understand why people want them together he's a jerk!!

Nobody's talking about merging the businesses. I doubt that would happen even if Heartland and Pryce Beef do reconcile and Amy and Nathan get together.
I could have wrote this episode. You knew that Nathan would be the hero and make up with heartland and get back with Amy. Same old story lines. Boring!
I mean, it's a family show, Heartland and Pryce Beef would have reconciled eventually anyway and the feud has been going on for like two seasons now, it's time.
