Great work Jane! A fabulous compilation and history of our much loved breed. Thank you!
The research done here is greatly appreciated..Thank you
Well made video. Thank you.
I always heard of Airedales but I didn't have a clue as to what they looked like.
Help me understand: What is the urgency to kill off the otters?
It's not so much urgency than just hunting sports and its barbaric logic that thankfully has been banned for decades. It did greatly affect the otter population and they were wiped out in many areas of Britain but there are still otters although still not anywhere the amount there should be. Farmers always profess their 'love' of animals and the land but have no issues killing anything that might affect their profits and that didn't help the otters and many other natural habitats and their wildlife
We had one unfortunately for two months ago she passed away
Much as I like Airedales, a wonderful breed of dog that's capable of so much - you should not gloss over the big part that dogs (and the people who produced and trained them) played in the killing/extinction of so much of England's wildlife. Otters are a necessary part of the ecosystem, and now it has been found that England wiped out more of its wildlife than any other country in the EU. It can't ever be regained.
Otters are not that fearsome, and I can't imagine the horror of having them killed by dogs - same for water rats.
The book Wind In The Willows is a celebration of England's wildlife, Otter, Water Rat, Badger and Mole.
