On August 11, 2024, we explored the charming city of Gjirokastër, known for its well-preserved Ottoman architecture and cobblestone streets.
The highlight of our visit was the Gjirokastër Fortress, a massive structure that has stood for centuries, offering a glimpse into Albania's rich history. The fortress, perched high on a hill, provides stunning panoramic views of the city and the Drino Valley.
The Old Town of Gjirokastër, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a labyrinth of narrow streets and historic homes, many of which are decorated with distinctive slate roofs. Walking through the Old Town feels like stepping back in time, with its traditional houses and vibrant local culture.
