Top notch build videos mate keep em coming, real handy for guys like me making it up as i go - also in the process of making an ally tray for an n80
Interested to know, did ya have any dramas with weld distortion?

Thanks man I’m glad to hear it’s helping people out and no not really man just make sure you tack it all good and weld everything seperate. Like weld a bit then go to the other side and stuff like that. Just be patient and let it cool down 🤙🏻

Nice work mate, very well done, what bolts did you use to bolt your guards & toolboxes onto the tray with?

Thanks mate appreciate the comment they are m10 stainless steel bolts and I used rivnuts pressed into the tray. And they are still going strong 💪🏻

Cheers mate, will have a look, I was going to use Tek screws, but that seems dodgey to me. 😂

Another wicked video bruh!! If you moved that last bit of c channel towards the back of the tray a little you would be able to weld on one of your mounting brackets that you made and be able to weld it to the flat side of the channel without any spacers. Love your work mate.

Hey mate really enjoyed the videos you did. There’s not allot of material around on building alloy trays so Thankyou for giving some really good content. I’m currently building an alloy tray as well for the hilux and I’m at the stage of the main rails going in and mounts. I’m just wondering if you had the dimensions still on how long you made the mounts and what measurement you set your main C channel rails at.
I’ve got roughly 305mm from outside edge of the tray to the main rail. Just wondering if you got close to the same ?

Yeah I have herd that aye maybe I got mine just in time 😂 it really depends on where you want your head board to sit for the hight man and that it governed off how high it is from the sheet to the window what I did was get a straight edge and ran it along the chassis mounts then measured up to the window. Then you just take away what it is from the headboard to bottom of tray and that will give you your hight. And as for the c channel width that depends on how wide you made your tray as well man. 🤙🏻 I hope this help out. Do you have c channel or rhs for your main rail ?
