You are so generous, with your knowledge, insight, and you help so many. Me included. I am just learning, but I so appreciate it. Not sure if I would ever use this, but I know you would be the reference if I forget this... so thank you. You have offered other information, that I just so appreciate.
Very helpful Julia, thank you ❤ I am practicing working on 12x12 as I hope to submit my work in the future...as soon as I can make the size adjustment lol🎉
Thanks, Julia! I do the same thing when I photograph my works for when I teach art to kids. I would like to know about photographing the larger work, though...but I see you have a photographer do that. In art school, I was told to photograph the work outside in the sunlight, but I do not find that the best idea. :)
Thank you for sharing this information so helpful. I’m thinking about submitting my work to your square foot show but having hard time figuring out which category to apply for. My work is organic abstract with lots of texture and i don’t see anything like that being offered and I don’t if it’s right art for the collectors.
I see several free image size apps, including the one you use Julia. I’m wondering if you or anyone knows the difference between and which would be best to try.
The question that I have is the resolution size of the actual image? Will 300 dpi be acceptable or do you need it I higher resolution? Thank you so much for the wonderful video it really helps to understand your requirements. 👍
@@janetm8902 thank you so much for your comment! It seems 300 dpi is acceptable. Which is easy to do with my phone. Lol, I just want to make sure I follow all of the rules so my work has a chance to be accepted into the online show.
@@juliaveenstraartist thank you so very much for your response! I do have another question, since this will be my first submission, do I have to have a "reel" made on Instagram before I can enter? I am still learning the app and I really do not have the equipment yet to shoot a reel properly? I will because it is important to me but right now I have limited funds. Thank you again for your time.
Thanks Julia. I appreciate learning about your photo process. All the best with tomorrow's show.
Thanks so much!
Julia, you’re a treasure. Thank you.🎉
Wow, thank you!
You do have excellent advices and detailed instructions (artists, normally, are not technology astute). Thank you for sharing
lol! I so appreciate your comment. I am not super tetchy but I get by!
Julia... you're Awesome!! I've been trying to take photos all morning of my art. Great video!! Thanks :)

I agree, photographing outside is tricky, especially with large pieces! The glare can be bad.
Thank you for sharing, Julia!
You're welcome!

Great information especially about app Image size. I really want to participate in your show, but I broke my arm recently.
Sorry to hear that!❤

There are so many great ones out there! Find one you understand.

Interesting that questions before and after yours were answered. I would also be curious to know the answer...if you do get a response. I hope you do!
Generally 300 dpi is great!

Do you varnish your paintings before or after you take your photos?
I varnish before.
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Have you ever had a painting that you wanted to keep and not sell?
What if you only have a laptop?
You don’t have a phone?
I am an apple girl have all apples devices but even with the newest and greatest iPhone, the camera photos cannot compare to android. Its frustrating.
Why? If the android works for you?
@ I don’t have android but my adult children do. The photos it takes is spectacular. I don’t know why apple products still haven’t perfected this .. i
