What we need is lifts that dont just move up and down on a pulley, but are attached to the side of the lift core and can move from side to side as well as up and down. If multiple lifts can share the same core and overtake each other, it would make a hige difference to the usable floor area of skyscrapers and totally change the economics.
Graet video, can you make a video about designing high rise buildings depending on codes or by using the performance based desgin, because its seems unclear, and if it possible to have an example for khalifa tower how it was designed, what is the design steps for it. Thanks ❤️
Hello sir….Aside getting a degree or masters degree in a university, where else can I get learn more about structural dynamics. Your recommendation will be greatly appreciated, Thank you
If the question is how tall can we go, then do we even know? We can make columns larger, we can taper buildings so the footprint at the bottom is larger, some locations have strong enough strata under the building so that larger foundations are feasible. Does the deflection limit become the maximum acceleration due to wind instead of strictly a function of height? Burj Khalifa has taken advantage of a lot of different things to push the limit by quite a bit, but could it be scaled up 50%? 100%. I think it could be scaled up by 100% and it would just be a matter of cost. Could it be scaled up 200%? I don't know the answer to that question.

That's a really good idea
Great videos as always and thanks for sharing.

Outrigger concept is very interesting.

hey Brendan, where did you get your structural engineering qualifications?
Hi Timoy, Monash university in Australia

Thanks for watching and the support
Interesting subject, the height of buildings erected over the last two decades has exceeded what seemed physically possible.
